Making a sampled hip hop beat out of records with Maschine and Teenage engineering OP-1
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 24 сен 2016
- Another one of those edited beatmaking video. This is me, chopping a drumbreak and a soul sample, adding some bass and some cuts.
There is no talking on this one so keep up with the process and please holla at me if you like me to explain stuff more in my upcoming videos.
I know the baseline sounds out of tune as I record it... I then layered that bass sound with a sub and lowered the "attack" of the bass you hear me play on the OP-1. I think it sounds a bit out of tune anyways but... thats life i guess.
Any suggestions, questions or whatever? Please leave a comment below.

Coffee, man. Coffee will always be a very important part of the process.
Vid is shot really, really well. Love listening to the different records as you sample them, too. I don't feel like we get a lot of insight, in general, into how to make this particular style of hip-hop is made, but your vids change that. Learning a lot, thanks dude!
Jeremy Leaird-Koch thanks man! A part of me actually wants to get a real camera soon, im pretty limited over here. What camera do you use?
I feel like this kind of sampling actually is a dying artform so Im really glad if anyone is learning something from my videos :)
You know I always love your videos man!
Accurate Beats "dying art form" - It's funny, I have a producer friend who thought there were way too many people doing it around the Bay Area, California. His opinion was that it was stale, right as I was really getting super into it. I'm going to go ahead and disagree with him, that this form of sampling and beat creation should never get stale, because the opportunities it offers are so rich for sample manipulation and sonic diversity. I will always have a spot in my heart for it.
As for cameras, I use a couple Canon DSLRs. An entry level Nikon or Canon with a "nifty fifty" (50mm f1.8) or a kit lens could probably get you very far!
Jeremy Leaird-Koch well... a lot of people sample stuff in alot of dirfferent
Jeremy Leaird-Koch well, a lot of people sample stuff in a lot of different ways and Im all for that! I do think this type of classic, sample driven hiphop is dying though. Much new hiphop these days is sonically more or less like EDM to my ears... Im not saying thats necessarily always a bad thing but I really enjoy making this kind of music and I think it still has a place in hiphop.
The instrumental hiphop scene thats growing strong right now is also sample based to a large degree but the people in that crowd tends to hate on the "old school" boombap...
Everything should always continue to evolve but I also think some of the classic, funky hiphop records made on MPC's in the early 90's deserves the same legacy status as a classic rock track.
Sorry for the slight off-topic rant!
Accurate Beats Not off-topic at all, great to hear your opinions on the subject!
sick stuff bro... I just clicked a random beat making video and discover some guy sampling Brook Benton... Who is my grandfather btw. you really did the record justice. Respect
hellobrookb oh thank you!
He really is your granddad? Thats crazy!
Thanks for commenting man, I really appreciate that!
Accurate Beats no doubt... But yessir my dad's dad. I like to think he passed on a bit of his talent to me 😎
@@hellobrookb ya'll should make a tune! Really nice work on the beat, man. Inspiring. I been looking for a new setup... I been checking the studio out for a while now. This just sealed the deal..
would be more than sick if grandson could put some dope lyrics on that beat
Wait a minute. Is your dad Roy by any chance?
FOUR YEARS LATER AND THIS IS STILL SO GOOD
Still good even after 10 years😂quality is quality!
2023 everyday better
So refreshing to not hear "ITS YA BOI" at the beginning of a beat making video
Haha! I know what mean! :))
Than You!
Or Yo Yo Yo!
YO WHAT UP RUclips ITS YA BOI FRESH BEATZ WITH ANOTHER VIDEO
yeah seems like accurate stays true to original hip-hop culture and not this new bullshit
Thanks a lot for watching my videos! I hit 100.000 views on my channel the other day, that feels awsome. Thanks again! Please dont be afraid to hit me up with suggestions, questions and such...
Thanks again!
can you do one on how you make a beat on ableton?
Sorry but I dont have or use Ableton at all. If I used it, I'd make a video on it. Sorry. Thanks for watching

Just what i thought 😃
i just was saying the same thing...and that is an awesome compliment to any beatmaker!!!!
Late night watch, but now I want to get into sampling. Thanks for the inspiration
I've been a faithful producer for 8 years now and it's great to see someone still implementing the art of samples in their music. It lets me know that that aspect of hip hop is still relevant
You have The Most cozy hardware-musical-performance-channel I've seen so far.
Keep it up, we like what you share with us.
You're awesome.^^
Thanks a lot! I love the word "cozy" :)
Appreciate the support!
I just watched a bunch of crappy videos, trying to learn something or two, and finally, finally I found a video worth liking.
Perfect video to watch on a lazy sunday afternoon. And that coffee cup, so cool dude.
Thank you, knowing that there are producers like you around the world make me feel better.
Keep up the great work. Teaching others is always amazing. Subbed up to your channel.
Thats what i call HIP HOP ROOTSSSSS!!!
I'm here by accident really, I just bought a Maschine MK3 and I'm learning about it watching videos. Watching this has been the equivalent of someone telling me there is this thing called the Internet and 'these are the things you can do with it'.....you've just opened my eyes to a whole new way to make music, absolutely brilliant! I am aware of course about sampling but you've just packaged it up so well that for the first time in my life...(I'm 48) I actually get what it's about and how it can be used. It's the best non-tutorial tutorial I've seen. You've just touched someones life here, thank you, now, where are all my 'old' records......
aye mane, thas music for you. there's no age in it really, I'm 15 and makin soul sampled beats, there's folks out there who are 60+ and still makin killer tracks!
it's been 3 weeks since yo last comment, how have you felt the device up until now? I'd love to listen to sum you made on it
This just really brightened my day! Especially the vocal at the end! Got me!
Dope beat and Video Bro! Really good work!

Killed it with "Thats life I guess" 😂
Amazing to watch it being done. Art.
I love how you work. The different steps you've done for the final result. Thanks to teach us ;)

Thank you!
I’m working on so much stuff right now.. The channel, the album, T-shirt’s, slipmats.
There will be T-shirt’s though. Some with the “Accurate” logo and hopefully one other design as well.

god this is exact video is what got me into production in the first place. now I'm in my senior year in hs and just reliked the video so it's at the top of my like list so I can return to it more often!
in the time since I first saw this video I got a maschine mikro, an sp404 and have been producing just chill music for me to study to, and wow has it just given me something to love doing. thank you so so much accurate for practically shaping my high school life LMAO
wouldn't have it any other way:D
If you "reliked" the video it means you deleted your first Like and didn't add another Like.
This is art !
Thanks!

Your amazing. I love the minimal set up you got going. Less is more. I try to stay minimal in gear and focus more on the digital tools. It's nice to see a crate digger still cooking up them dope tracks. Good looking homey.
Much love to you.
