Loved some of the ideas in this video. Especially the one about experimenting with horizontal and vertical descenders :D it's so nice to see so many videos from you lately. You're starting 2016 off with a bang, that's for sure! :) Also, I wish I lived on Cool Beans Lane ;) lol that part had me cracking up more than it should have.
+OpenInkStand Art & Calligraphy lol well I think it's safe to say that you did better than most would in that situation :) it's always good for some humor to find its way into videos :) Keep up the great work! :)

Hi there I just started calligraphy 2 weeks ago and was an instant subscriber your Channel! I want to learn copperplat but all I have right now is a pilot metropolitan. What should I use to start learning copperplate?
+Piotr Monaco A Pilot Metropolitan is a fountain pen, and you won't be able to do copperplate with it. I did a beginners guide here which you may find useful: openinkstandblog.com/beginners-guide/
What nib are you using? And where did you get the holder? It looks like wood, is it??? I've been using a Brause EF66 in a plastic skinny holder (oblique) Not very comfortable.
Hi There! I love your videos! What kind of ink and nib are you using in this video? I used the "Iron Gall" over the holidays, but I found it rather lite. The ink in this video is nice and dark! Love it!
Ive been doing this on and off for over thirty years (more off than on)and I could not imagine being this good, however i do find that my writng is far better when using paper designed for water colour paintings than ordinary writing paper (and surprisingly it doesn't run or bleed) is this common and why
Coasterdude02149 excuse me if i don't put swirls and curves on all my letters, in my school we don't need that, and when i did it, my teachers told me to stop because no one could read it. i actually have been in calligraphy classes, hence the reason i am watching this video, i was just looking for something that would suit me
Your teacher said that because writing in school is formal, and teaching you how to be practical in a formal and professional setting. It is also helpful to the many people who read it because flourishes are distracting from the writing itself. This type of calligraphy is meant to be like what someone would embellish on a Title, but not to be put into a book to be read. I would say it is difficult to read for some people and not others if you are not used to these types of handwriting styles from not reading these certain types often.
i can't thank you enough

Thank you, I'll be ordering an oblique holder and a variety of nibs! Keep up the great work, they really help!
+Piotr Monaco Have fun!
Im going to an art store tomorrow and they have the Leonard's principle. Would this be ok to start with
What nib are you using? And where did you get the holder? It looks like wood, is it??? I've been using a Brause EF66 in a plastic skinny holder (oblique) Not very comfortable.
My penholder is made by Michael Sull. And yes the plastic holders are not very comfortable!
Hi There! I love your videos! What kind of ink and nib are you using in this video? I used the "Iron Gall" over the holidays, but I found it rather lite. The ink in this video is nice and dark! Love it!
+Joanna Dojillo I used sumi ink, it's very very black. Iron gall ink is good too but some do not get as black as sumi.
i've never tried calligraphy but your video inspired me to try. what pen are you using? and ink? please share what resources are best.
I have a beginners guide here: openinkstandblog.com/beginners-guide/

Different people have different preferences, if it works for you keep using it!!
how comes this sound ? its really satisfying
Could you please make a video about how to begin and how to get the flow.
Good idea!
What kind of nib is that?
Thank you, too!
Hello! Can you do a review of lamy joy calligraphy pens pretty please?
Unfortunately I don't have one :(
I'm curious, do you also do italic calligraphy, such as gothic or chancery?
I'm trying to learn!
Would love to know the nib you are using.
I used a combination of Leonardt Principal and Brause Rose for this video
Thanks

Copperplate calligraphy is the best.

to be honest, the calligraphy was barely legible
What was hard to read because it's perfectly legible to me. Too much computer...turn it off and learn the real way to write.
