    Awesome bikes - and from a great era. The 90s were the 'golden period' for the sport. And I say that as a fan of the current scene.....

    What a pleasure to see someone who's head was turned by a Klein in the early 90's leading up to this stunning and rare collection. Whereas the most collectible years are those he explained (early 1990's), I rode Klein's from the 1995-1996 era and felt they were right at the pinnacle of Gary Klein's design ingenuity. Kept my Pulse II and Team Attitude both of which I still ride today. Thanks for sharing.

    I noticed that nearly all of them are using Flite saddles which was the standard for mtb and road during that wonderful time. They were my butt’s favorite.
    Really enjoy these retro videos. Thx

    My indelible Klein moment happened around 1989 in Whistler, BC. It was the summertime and there was a pretty important mountain bike race happening. A lot of the big brands were there. And then this woman (I think it was Missy Giove) shows up with the most gorgeous bike I had ever seen. A Klein in a snow white paint job with pink highlights. Her team mate had one too. They kind of had a stormtrooper vibe about them. The tube diameters where insane (back then anyway). Massive headtubes with custom headsets. I just could believe how far they where pushing bike design. It made me excited for what might come next. That was Klein!

    Here in Seattle ,early 90s Klein and Cannodale , Fat Chance , bridge stone, yeti , specialized, trek , Rodriguez stuff was the norm ...I had Cannodale love at first then road Klein's ...kids, marriage ,work and I kept the last bike since 98' ... attitude race (made in Chehalis Wa. USA) I converted to a drop 700cm 35mm tires, disc front , cantilever rear with extensions on the post ... standard compact gear. . . Stolen Christmas day 2020 . aaarrgghhh ...but the big used shop near had the frame for 50 bucks . . . I'm doing a hoo Koo e Koo Frankenbuild to ride the muck season out. But your collection has me wanting a Klein again. . . I had the years wrong with the buy out , because mine said made in Chehalis but maybe it was a lie ...I kept it because of that . Chehalis is not 2hrs driving in good traffic from Seattle.

    Wholly crap those are nice! I worked in a very large bike shop during that exact time and we carried all the high end bikes including Klein. The most popular brands at my shop were Fat Chance or Independent since they were local builders. Loved a lot of the parts manufacturers of the time including Cook Brothers Ringle Sycros Chris King etc etc.

      EXCUSE ME? Trek had NOTHING to do with these amazing bikes. This was ALL Chehalis, WA* KLEIN, dammit! Trek RUINED Klein and then shut it down. Sorry, Trek deserves ZERO credit for the creativity, innovation, uniqueness and beauty of these dream bikes. (Can you tell from my tone a slight distaste for Trek?!!!)

    So this is where they are hoarded lol. I had the original Attitude and wow did it improve my racing results back in early 90s. Now I'd love to hang one on the wall beside my Carrera team road bike (I also raced this bike back then, as an amateur). I see the 1990 Atti going for $5k today despite the drop in resales of vintage bikes. Maybe I will settle for a Pinnacle or other less pricey one to decorate with. And ride it once in a while if I can find one large enough.

    OMG, what a collection!
    Wow, all the really good stuff! Thank you for sharing. So much Klein goodness.
    And the Yeti and the Yo Eddie didn't go unnoticed either. Wow, they're so perfect.
    I still have my Klein "It Could Change Your Priorities!" poster! I didn't see one on his wall! (It predates his collection by almost 10 years, so it isn't really a fit anyway.)
    PS What Trek did to Klein (and Bontrager and Fisher, and...) was BLASPHEMY! Shame on Trek. If you need just ONE reason to hate Trek, that's it.

    • @masoodpathan9897
      @masoodpathan9897 2 года назад +1

      The Treks have a Bontrager RSL one piece handlebar now. I would say they took Fisher and Klein technology and put it into their Trek Procaliber now. I disagree. 29ers roll better and the 27.5 has best of both worlds. They also have integrated internal frame cable routing like these bikes in the video today. Times just changed. Someone had to keep it all going. Trek did so...

    That's an impressive collection, when I look at it quick. But in fact, some of the paintjobs are repaints. This makes the collection less impressive to me. Because it's not much more as to buy some old Kleins and to let make a quick repaint into all the colours what the owner wants. It's just a very quick way, to get what someone wants for its money. To me it is far away from a "real Klein collection". ... Exept all the originals, like the Sea and Sky Attitude, the Gator Adroit or the Rain Forest Adroit.
    But I agree that is still an impressive view to see all these Kleins and of course, respect to the owner, that he invests so much money for the repaints. For sure, he is not less a Klein fan as all the others, who don't spend this much money for their Kleins or who like the original pintjobs more as the repaints.
    Every Klein fan is a kind of special, everyone in its own personal way. :-)
    The following Kleins look like repaints to me:
    - Attitude Gator (MC1 with MC2 Decals) ... Even if he says that it's original paint, to me it looks like a repaint.
    - Adroit Moonrise MC1 ... To me it looks too much orange and too less pink.
    - Adroit Storm MC1... For some reason it looks a bit like a paintjob from Etoe to me.
    - Attitude Nightstorm MC2 ... It also looks like Etoe to me. (At MC2 weren't painted screws in the frame.)
    What do the others think? Do you also see repaints and which one?

    • @dudeonbike800
      @dudeonbike800 2 года назад +2

      I take no issue with repainting them. It's paint. They were painted new in Chehalis, so why does it matter? I see what you're saying, but I'd much rather see a beauty like a Klein properly restored and coated with a beautiful new paintjob to showcase the amazing talent that went into those bikes. Let the beauty shine, I say!
      And the rebuttal makes no sense to me - why leave a Klein with damaged, scratched, oxidized paint and corrosion be? Serves no purpose, other than to "prove" it was used (and abused)?
