Do you have a favorite brand you buy over others? Let me know below this comment. I had a really nice Sony TV back in Australia, i wish i could have brought it my luggage to Moscow. It's in my parents place now. Russell.
All my youth I preferred German household appliances - Miele, Siemens. Braun. Unfortunately, Siemens and Braun moved production to China and the quality of the equipment became unstable. I am happy that I managed to buy a washing machine for Miele before the sanctions... Now I most often choose household appliances and smartphones manufactured by Samsung. South Korea keeps a balance between high quality and prices.
Greetings from Louisiana USA. Appreciate the information you show us. I am happy to see Russia has a lot of products and food. As for America I see a lot of shelves are bare and the food shelves and product shelves are getting low and lower each month that passes. I love the Russian people. They are very high class. Beautiful language. Thank you for all your great information. Keep going with your videos and keeping us informed. Much appreciated.
Thanks for watching! One point of difference is the amount of locally made goods vs. imported items like back in Australia for instance. We have very little manufacturing in Australia. Easier to get it from China if you're willing to wait. Russell.
Interesting comment about the shelves being empty. I'm out in Bulgaria, and the shelves are overflowing with products. The prices have gone up ... some by 80%. Shopping at the big German Kauflands store helps .... beer and vodka have gone up but you can still get 2 litres of beer for 1-89Leva ..... and its fabulous beer !
I was borne in Russia, but was growing and studying and now live in Britain. I often hear from Russians, that sanctions imposed by americans influencing europe to do the same - actually did some good for Russian economy. So, thank you! And we who now live in europe suffer as a result. Well done, america!
Hi Russell! In Eldorado shop you can see in life and to touch things which you can buy later online. Usually online is cheaper and you can read the feedbacks about most of items before you order them
в Эльдорадо часто бывают специальные предложения. если не кидаться сразу, то можно купить выгоднее чем в интернете. плюсы маркетов - это ОЧНАЯ гарантия и решение проблем на месте, а не по интернету с отправкой.
Russel, very important moment to your videos - all prices in Russia including all taxes. You pay the price which you see on the goods, you do not need add taxes, it is already in the price you see 👍🏼 Good videos. You are first blogger, who shows real life in Russia to your American subs 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Oh yeah, i disliked shopping in america with the additional taxes at the counter. Why would they price items like that? It’s misleading as stuff looks cheap at first and it consumes extra time to calculate.
It's a pleasure to see a foreigner in my country! In Russia you can find not only Эльдорадо. There is also МВидео (MVideo) and DNS. DNS in my opinion is Best electronic shop in Russia Because more products, more shops (even in my city it's 3, 150K population), and you can by accessories to computer! For me it's very important.
I really like DNS, the one in this same mall is very small. There is a bigger one though in Salaris mall, which i should make a video in. I like it also for the computer parts and accessories. Hopefully they will be ok with me filming in there. Russell.

@@TravellingwithRussell In the M-video, I recently bought a phone for my daughter. The phone itself cost 9,000 rubles (about 150 dollars or euros for today). There were bonuses of 5000 rubles for the last purchase in this store. So I paid less than half. I also took a case for him for 600 rubles (about $ 10). And I wanted to make a plate or protective glass on the screen. Attention! A plate (not even glass) was offered to me for 1,990 rubles (about $ 33)!!! @@luciferjohnson8495 The fact is that the Eldorado store where they filmed the review is an overpriced store. In stores such as Eldorado and Mvidio, household appliances are bought by people with an upper-middle income, or pensioners (buy on credit), who are not aware of the availability of online stores with lower prices. The main part of people buy household appliances and phones in online stores (the difference in price sometimes reaches 50%). @@luciferjohnson8495 I agree with you, iPhones are very popular, but mostly among people with incomes above the average. Thanks for the info! Really big difference then. Thanks for pointing out how your pricing is. a bit off topic i was watching the Northern Ireland Snooker championships on TV here today. Russell.
Actually, prices haven’t changed seriously in rubles, but currency rate has changed. So in early february it was cheaper in dollars, but pretty same in rubles. It was like 330 usd or 320 euro.
And then you need to compare the purchasing power (PPP) in addition to just the raw device price, how much is €249-279 out of your salary. (Hint: Avg Irish income = $6210/month, to russia avg income = $967/month, you can find the stats many places), then that is pocket change for an Irish person, but a huge expense for a russian income. So many people keep forgetting PPP, and just look at what something with their salary in a different country, would cost them).
@@michaelnjensen and then you need to make proper comparations, 6210 per month is for a professional! the basic income in Ireland is 1200. you should compare Doctors to Doctors- Teachers to Teachers- Cashiers to Cashiers and so for.

For example there is a village near Salaris called Salarevo and around this village there are several gardeners' non-commercial partnerships (called SNT in Russia). During the day most of them open for walks. Plenty of interesting houses here, most of them used as holiday houses (dacha).
Hi Russ, Thank you. You could have been posting this from pretty much anywhere in the Western world. Interesting to see no DJI drones, usually in the camera area, perhaps not that popular in Russia. Some price's didn't look that far away from the Good guy's, JBs , or Retrovison store's in Perth. Perhaps comparing similar brand's may show big price variations. Stay safe as always Perth WA

Good brand btw and it's the middle level price, neither cheap nor expensive. Gorenje stoves are among best ones, better than most of more expensive brands
Electronics are expense in Russia! Adam mentioned that prices increased about 50% which about what I noticed during the tour. Prices where about 50% to 100% higher, especially for name brand goods found here in the USA. I do know that off brands made in China and India that are not found in the USA are much more popular and cheaper in foreign countries. Russian are paying very high prices for Apple and Samsung goods.
Thanks for pointing that out. Cheer, I apricate your comments. I guess i don't go into these kinds of stores that much to know the differences. I would only go in if we need something or need to replace something. Russell.
Of course! Logistics is disrupted, the Western government prohibits many companies from working in Russia, the goods are transported by "parallel import" - through other countries, which raises the price of the goods.
Not completely true, people who "know stuff" don't shop at such large expensive offline stores, personaly i bought Samsung S21+ model 2 months ago for about 600$ in Russia.
As a Russian, wanna say that it is true. But it is true if we purchase it in original stores. For example, if I go and buy MacBook Pro 14 2021 in store it will cost me ~3500$. Then, if I purchase it as a parallel imports from other people in Russian sites like Avito I could pay ~2000$. The difference is insane

17:20 "+50% since February" is definitely price gouging, at least in part and for lots of sortament. The trick is that sanctioned goods are available through "parallel import" via third party countries like Turkey, Kazakhstan etc., and the rest of the goods has little to no reasons for price hike whatsoever as Rouble has strengthened for months + delivery costs dropped as Russia now has some surplus of transport fuels and electricity (exactly goods that stopped to be exported from this and adjacent regions to countries like Finland, for instance).

The kettles were interesting. I always thought that a British thing mostly! Almost nobody has them in the US. We use our stove to boil water.
Kettles are the world thing. The US is exception in this regard.
Because most of the world drinks not just coffee but tea also, they need kettles for that. And because a 120V kettle is 2 times slower then a 240V kettle also.
It's the legacy of the British Empire tea embargo on the US in the past plus low wattage in a standard American outlet.
