I've got a '79 GMC C30 1 ton dump, but they took out the 454 and put in a 350 before I bought it. I was thinking of putting the Cummins I've got into it, but the cab is history. I'm surprised I haven't fallen through the floor on the freeway yet. Your truck is the one I've wanted to find, but they are rare.

Great find…granny gear works great for DNR trucks for roadside fire abatement, hotspots etc, as on some trucks the pump is independent of the drivetrain and you can pump and drive simultaneously…
I picked up a “retired” pump and water tank that I’ll use at my residence by the lake for personal fire protection. I did retire from my local fire department (30 years)
Do what you want for aesthetics, but without a dump bed, I’d at least put a “Tommy lift” on the back, and stake body the sides. Carry your gas torches, diesel refill tanks for equipment, refrigerators for the neighbors, etc…

Definitely put a stake bed on it - Beverly Hillbilly's style. And since it has a "granny gear".......add a rocker in the back for granny. :) I think it will make a great parade truck.
looks like a cool truck. Those govdeals are addicting. I am getting ready to do a nice 78 bronco swap with a 2000 excursion 7.3 diesel running gear. would love some pointers.

I would restore it as close to original as possible with tasteful modifications to make it into a semi capable 4wd truck
