I came here and found this because I read that they played this tune as part of the Deep Cuts set at Solid Sound yesterday. Such a great song. Seeing them in Chautauqua next Friday for my 11th Wilco show.
It's so clear to me, that this song is a GIFT, from Wilco to ME, to US. How many of you have reached the end of your rope, and the only thing that has kept you hanging on, is MUSIC? When there is no where else to turn, when everyone has left you, betrayed you, judged you, broken your heart, and just plain stressed the LIFE out of you......This song, and WILCO will always be there for you. WILCO WILL LOVE YOU, BABY!!!
+Doeke Bekius Really? I so want to call bullshit on you but I don't know for sure and I heard you are not allowed to make stuff up on the internet. You got to admit the organ play has a very Beatles' sound to it. Not knocking on Wilco though, I love them and Jeff's Uncle Tupelo stuff ( Jay Farrar kicks ass as well).
@TotzthePlaid hmm, maybe I need to check out more of their stuff....thanks for reminding me of them...btw, THE band of the moment for me is Beach House...check em out, great music
This video makes me giggle. It seems like a cliche live video clip. I swear Jeff Tweedy's in on the sarcastic humour. Or I'm wrong. Great song. Great band!
@crazy8rgood I love Fleet Foxes. I saw them last year, front row, Massey Hall, one of the best shows in a long time for me, cant wait for their next album, they are crazy talented...who are MGMT? I dont get the acronym!
@angel1329us lol, that was 2 years ago. i love radiohead and wilco. I like dave matthews for his creativity, i do, but he is indeed not even near the level of radiohead or wilco. Excuse my poor english.
@crazy8rgood I love MGMT! But i think the top three bands are Radiohead, MGMT and Wilco. Grizzly bear is good and so is animal collective but i think wilco and radiohead are by far better bands.
@crazy8rgood I agree with most of those. Personally, I think Grizzly Bear are WAY overhyped, given that they're riding everyone's coattails when it comes to their style of music. But I can see why people would listen to them.
Can someone please explain me all the Dave Matthews-hating? Even if he's not your cup of tea, I just don't get what he had done, what made everbody here so angry.
@peacemonger1967 wilco and radiohead are the only ones who have consistently put out great albums while there seems to be a lot of bands that put out some good music but don't keep it up
Still trying to figure out wtf this song's purpose is. I suppose the groove is alright and the passion is top shelf ....but why did they write a song about Wilco. I dont know if it represents powerful ego or humility. Very confused. People go beserk when they play this live, I just kind of scratch my head. I guess maybe I am a crusty old fart but I would much rather lose my load to Monday, Pot Kettle Black, Casino Queen, Spiders etc. Thats one lovely Les Paul Jeff.
THE MACHINE SENT ME

The best Beatle song I've heard in awhile.
+Tom Higgins It's actually a Neil Young song..

For me, the top 3 great bands in the world today are: Radiohead, Arcade Fire and Wilco. Discuss...
11 years later this holds up

Nels @ 2:20, youre in the wrong band for those antics bro
+angel1329us +1
You're missing the Frames in there... Arcade Fire are great, but the Frames have more fantastic albums than they do.
TotzthePlaid 😁😁😁😁😁
