🥒 ABOUT BEFRS:
Hey, I’m Sonny! I’m from the US but I’ve been living in Asia for 10 years and started making food and travel videos to document my experiences. I travel to different parts of the world, hunting down and documenting the most unique food each country has to offer.
If you see any factual food errors in my videos, please feel free to politely let me know in the comments. I'm a huge fan of trying different, interesting foods in each country. My show is from a Western point of view, but more importantly, MY point of view. It is not meant to offend any person or culture.

Hey Sonny, thanks for taking the time to tell the indigenous story wherever you are. It's very respectful, appropriate and appreciated.
I watch your show more to learn about different cultures than the food, that's a byproduct😊
A sincere thank you from Canada!
Omg. Sunny just slurped the fresh blood. I am not the brave to do that.
Thank you Sonny!
According to the Bible you are forbidden to consume blood. BT
I love how he always refrains from nasty grimaces or remarks when something doesn't taste great, massive sign of respect!
Unlike Gordon Ramsay
@@jeremyschoen8819Gordon Ramsay isn't like that when he's doing stuff like this. I guess you haven't seen his show Uncharted before
It's simply called being mature.
Shouldn't be special in 2023 but it is😊
Just sarcasm, which doesn’t cross language barriers so it isn’t offensive.
I have some fried dogshit patties for you to try it’s traditional for my people to eat with vomit purée. If you grimace while eating you’re disrespectful! 🤣 I’ll never understand this shit
The goat's stomach doesn't cure headaches, it just makes people never complain about them afterwards.
How do you know ?
@@dominiccarter5070 would you complain if you knew you had to smell that. It totally makes sense. I think they know.
Lol
😂
@@Debbie_Bcool 100% success rate 😂
Sonny must be one of the most charming people on the planet to be able to bring his sense of humor into so many different cultures.
The way they all cracked up at the end with the three testicle joke gave me life. We're all the same
Hey sunnay!!!!
Hey sunny side.BEFRS.
Yes true
Learning about my native country from Sonny. ❤ I’ve lived half of my life abroad, but I was born and raised in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. I knew about the Hamar people and their famous hairstyle, but I had no idea about their diet, traditions, and nomadic past, and the impact of environmental changes in their lifestyle. Thank you, Sonny!
As an ethiopian living in addis the things sonny is doing and the way he is being respectful is amazing. I don't think I would react the same way he did with blood and every thing else. Thank you for coming to my diverse country and putting us on the map.
Me too
The Ethiopian Hamar lady that goes to the market with Sonny is very beautiful and exudes model qualities to her. 😍💯 She looks like marble art when quitely sitting.
Yesss I said the same thing
You are correct
She also has a badass to it. I love her me time getaways😅😅😅❤
Mommy was hot and chic. Loved her funk. 😏
WOW... You never offend the tribal people! Thanks for sharing their culture with us.
Hard to offend people who are not indoctrinated into nonesense...aka North American culture....
@@user-tr4pm4cq8sSonny is North American. Don't watch him if you hate North Americans lol
@@user-tr4pm4cq8sYou're saying that as if the French language wasn't considered the language of a civilized person, or that Fudal Japan didn't behead someone for disrespecting the wrong person, or that England didn't call Naitive American tribes "savages" because they were different. Most North Americans ancestors came from Europe hun, the world isn't nice, that's not just one culture's fault
@@user-tr4pm4cq8s true, most north americans have fragile feelings, they will be offended easily
It's barbaric and weird. But yh...thanks😂
I can honestly say I personally think Sonny is the most funniest and charismatic vlogger out there. He can fit himself in anywhere. He truly uses his film making skills and pushes the content to the upper echelon.
I don't know how often Sonny's wife joins in his trips but it's so sweet to know they're together.
many people don't realize how we're only a generation or two away from most traditional lifestyles. When my great grandma was alive and younger these guys were still nomadic and doing things their own way. It is similar for many cultures out there. It's just crazy how recent the transition was, for better or for worse.
Thank you sonny for coming to our country and showing us love. I appreciate how respectful and interactive you are with the tribe. You made me realize how much I need to explore and discover my own country.
Might be the best food/culture guide we have. Appreciate this Channel's determination on bridging us towards other countries and cultures.
The Hamar tribe was my favorite. I am preparing many paintings of them currently
Thank you!
Respectable that you can keep your composure and be respectful of their culture
This man is such a LEGEND ❤
He is so respectful of the tribe. That’s so great to see!
This is amazing!!!! I hope all African countries have good government and protect the different tribal communities big or small. Africa is so diversified and beautiful in its own way!!!!! World really need to protect them.
They really need to stop coming to the UK on small boats from France!
@@leechy91you really need to stop being racist!
@@leechy91omo valley tribes don’t do that. They mostly stay in the Omo Valley. In the ethiopian diaspora you might find the more modern tribes like amhara, oromo, gambella, Afar, tigrinya, & etc. that’s just based off of what I’ve seen
@leechy91 where would tribes living like this find money to go to the UK? 😂😂
You make us experience things that we can't do on a daily. Thanks Sonny 🙏
He used the "it's corn" line but quickly realized no one there will get it ..😅
I think this is the best food show on the planet… probably!… and his sense of humor, respect and humbleness…. Mr. he’ll’s kitchen, take note!!!
The food channel became an Anthropology channel. WElldone documenting these experiences
You are the only person who deserves to do this sort of show. You understand people of all sort. Your stomach 🙌🏿
Man Sonny has a platinum stomach
😂💯
Much respect to this man❤
his sense of humor is what makes this show most entertaining
Ethiopia seems like such an amazing place, from the people and customs to the beautiful land and animals❤
All places are
This is not Ethiopia and have nothing to do with Ethiopia
i think it is ethiopia@@theassassin9326
The story and lifestyle of the Hamar people is always fascinating to me ❤
This episode makes me appreciate what little my family and I have. Thank you for sharing.
I swear! For years i thought i was some kinda foodie that was down to try anything!!! I HAVE NEVER EVER EVER BEEN SO WRONG IN MY LIFE!!!!
Thanks Sonny - another amazing video. You've perfected the art of eating raw animal parts with respect and good humour!
The tradition of bull jumping is also found in Spain today, as well as Ancient Greece, though archeologists aren't sure what the purpose of it was. Interesting to see that this tradition is also continued in Africa! We have more in common than we think!
Appreciate your hard work and dedication and that of your team. Keep it up!
Got the chance to visit this tribe and others and made it to that market, where I found the most amazing people I have ever meet, yes they have their own traditions and culture but they are amazing souls
Wish you and Zimmern would have a show together. Still paying for travel channel, just in case he comes back. Found you from JRE. Good stuff
And I was asked why you always wore the headband. “He sweats a lot”? Trademark
My mother who is from the Oromo tribe used to smoke the milk pail with olive branches and season the cow’s milk with fresh rue. It had a unique blend of that smokiness and the rue that I will never forget the rest of my days.
Been waiting for this episode. ❤❤❤❤

Beautiful culture and I love the way you interact ❤
Loved your show like always 🇿🇦
Africa my Africa !!! Wonderful Africa. Thank Sonny for another wonderful and educative video. I will travel to Ethiopia next year to experience this.
I just came back from Omo Valley and spent time with all these tribes. I really enjoyed my time with the Hamer tribe. My interaction with them were some of my favorite memories in Ethiopia... the kids, the beautiful jewelry (I purchased a few necklaces off them at the Hamer market, they are very unique!), drinking shoforo (coffee shell tea) with them and watching them create their beautiful beaded wear. I was also shocked to see a Hamer man whip his young son for loosing the live stock that day. The bull jumping ceremony was a dream of mines to witness. It was interesting to see the women get whipped in support of the jumper. Their hair and necklace can also tell their status which is fascinating. I was also speechless when I heard how many hours they can walk to get to their destinations. I'm surprised to see the young women covered in this video as many of them walk around with their upper body exposed but noticed the married women today are wearing shirts tucked high. Love the Hamer tribe and so happy to see you take on it! Love seeing your adventures in Ethiopia!
lol. We'd whoop our sons in most of America for losing the livestock.
Respect All Culture and tradition Specially the Food 👍🥳

Your tour guide is really nice so chilled and you are crazy in a good way 😁
Love your humor, but I lo ve the respect you show to other cultures. Looking forward to the new channel. Going to sub now. Much love from Rhode Island. Terry ❤❤
It's amazing how beautiful the people are living in such rough conditions! their skin is perfect!
Their condition is not rough to them it's their way of life they may think your living conditions are rough because they aren't used to it.
they have sand and dirt blowing in the wind many months out of the year, and extreme heat... I live in texas, so yeah... bout the same! LOL
Sunny you a great, it is awesome to see more into cultures like this.
You are amazing!
So awesome to see more into cultures like this. They make so much out of so little, and they still have fun even though life is rough. Some of them have cellphones but they aren't hooked on them. I'm sure they enjoyed showing Sonny how they do things and they liked looking at his reaction, as if waiting for him to chicken out. Awesome video Sonny and crew!
Bloody interesting
As with everything you guys do Sonnyy, awesome!
Living up to your name,.. BEST EVER FOOD SHOW

They look so cool, the outfits the hair everything I love it all ❤ we get to experience the beauty of Africa through your lenses thanks you so much!
This is the best ever food review show!!
I would be surprised if you didn't come down with tape worm, parasite or stomach bug. Ethiopia have very diverse food culture and the people are adapted to the different kind of bugs and know how to deal with it.

Beautiful culture .. Thanks sharing this to people Sonny..
It's amazing how much you teach me about my own country!
Say what you want but I've found the simplicity of their food has really helped me. The more I return to simple dishes with meat, vegetables, and thongs like rice/potatoes, the more my stomach/digestive issues seem to go away.
videos like these makes me feel so small. So much of the world is yet to be explored. Amazing
nice way to start my day
