Local law enforcement should have been able to get the weapon from him,and charge him with willful concealment,as a crime in and of itself!! The two weapons from his tRump Tower were turned over to New York authorities before he left Manhattan for Mar a Lago. He is getting preferential treatment because he is a former president.
Hunter lost his sister, his brother, his mother, and got a head injury in the accident. It's not surprising that he's not running his life very well.

The US Judiciary just does not wholly act in GOOD FAITH anymore ever since Citizens United. Maybe some of us have experienced it ourselves in state and federal courts (I damn sure have) - but there's too many crooked judges in USA - acting in BAD FAITH - since that accursed case.

I am a 66 year old woman who is terrified of the direction we are going in. I am grateful for the Meidas bros and what they have created. I'm in my 70's and I was shocked and dismayed at how Trump gets away with things but now I am feeling very saddened. The open corruption of Thomas and the unethical politics of Alito as well. Trump lost the popular vote but got in anyway. Same thing with Bush who lost the popular vote with Gore. It really does look like the big money ultraconservative power elite is actively trying to create fascism in America except in name. They'll insist their fascism is still democracy and people will self censor themselves after that.
I hope the corrupt supreme court stays out of it!

The most irritating aspect of all the cases is that this defendant is treated with special deference because he is a former president. He needs to be held to a higher standard of responsibility because he is a former president. Justice demands that as former president he knows right from wrong and needs to set an example to the public for respect of and obeying the law. To that protocol, the consequences of breaking the law need to set an example that no one is above the law. In other words, the sentences need to be the harshest according to previous behavior, level of contrition, and the crimes committed. Leniency sends the wrong example now and for the future. Not just for these types of crimes but for all crimes.

There is a huge amount of us out here who care deeply about. I served in the Marines to pay for the wonderful life I have here in the USA.

Michael, I am decedent from one of the first Federal Judges. Back then, they rode circuit. Doing so was dangerous. They faced highway men, Indians, blizzards and illness. No one wanted the job. They had to offer them lifetime appointments to get anyone to do the job. The average lifespan of a Federal Judge was only 2 to 2 1/2 years after appointment.
No disrespect to your family history. It's unclear what time your referring to 1800's, 1900's? I've never read or heard such a thing about, the reason for lifetime appointments was due to it being "dangerous". History shows the all people were faced diseases, weather, "outlaws." Construction jobs, farming, factory workers, miners, etc, cost many lives and injuries. I rather doubt being a federal judge was anymore dangerous. 🙄 And their salary was by far better than most.

It was BEYOND disheartening to hear that the judge said, at one time during the trial, when addressing 45, that he “didn’t want to put him in jail,” because he (45), is a former president, with the possibility of holding the office again! Either NOOOOO man is above the law or there are those who are! SADLY, many know the “truthfulness” of this statement. Nonetheless, It was hard to hear coming from a judge who is SUPPOSEDLY charged to UPHOLD THE LAW WITHOUT FEAR OR FAVOR. 😔
