Thank you. I love that in today's world we can learn how to do anything right.
6 years on and this is still helping people! My daughters hair was getting dry and frizzy from the chlorine and we had no idea how to protect it with a swim cap. I couldn't figure it out myself (I'm a dad with short hair). So thanks for helping out all the dads!
this was the best tutorial ever!!!! I have hip length hair and they all went so nicely with this.. first i thought what i wrong with her why is she letting her hair down? then i tried and it worked perfectly fine!! there was no bumpy area for water to enter at the nape of my neck which usually use to happen when i use to put my hair in a bun!! THANKKKK YOU!!!
Glad you liked it! Please share because we know there are a lot of others that have the same issue.
I have hip length hair too so today I will try it ❤
I just look like i'm in some intense pain whenever i put on a swimming cap
Clearly Clover most do...they are not really a comfortable thing 😉
@@USMastersSwimming Me too. with covid. my dwindling precious hair is getting long long and needs a cap protection
@@USMastersSwimming Maybe the olympics should allow larger swimming caps, eh?
@@AvangionQ I agree
just helped my daughter feel confident for her first swim class in a new school, thank you!!! 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽
Starting swimming tomorrow and, wearing a swim cap is my biggest concern 😅
Thank you for this tutorial!
Thank you so much! I’m 10 years old and don’t know how to swim, I’m going to learn with my class on Thursday and I got worried because my hair wouldn’t fit in the cap :). This definitely works!
me too
I have long platinum blonde and im tired of shying away from pools 💕 This tutorial and my cap have been a real life saver!
Thanks for this tutorial. Doing my 1st indoor pool swim and wearing a cap for the 1st time with my very long hair. I feel confident to put the cap on now.
Happy to help! Welcome to the pool. Let us know if you have any questions.
Thanks so much! Very helpful. I have also been wetting my hair and adding a pre-conditioner (acqua Guard) and it has helped a ton. My hair has been tangle free and I have long, tangle prone hair so that has been a plus. LOL - your comment about the cone head was cute.
I'm a guy who grew my hair out so nice to have this when I never needed this tutorial before lol
Thanks so much! Really helped me do it first time where other vids I had so many more problems! Thought I'd be stuck swimming with long hair in my way forever! Thank you again!
I'm starting water polo in 2 days and was struggling with the cap. Thank you, this was very helpful
Well I did it. 3 1/2 years of swimming and I finally learned how to put on my own cap. Yay!
Very helpful! Never really struggled with putting a cap on until I grew my hair out to my shoulders. This helps out a lot
Happy to help!
@@USMastersSwimming Do all competitive gymnasts wear a tight swim cap often?
I had been struggling with wearing the cap for a long time but your video saved me
We are so happy to hear our video helped!
I am glad this is helping people and I think you are great at doing it, and it looks normal and even good at the end! I have such a hard time getting used to the cap(i have sensory issues), and I am currently wearing it while working from home, just to get used to it. I always have it when I arrive at the pool but I end up braiding my hair and not wearing it. I want to protect my hair from the pool 3 times a week! I'm inspire to not give up ;)
i have a swimming lesson at school tomorrow, and i didn't know how to put a swim cap on before i watched this. tysm! :)
•pink lilac• hope you had a great lesson!
this helped SO MUCH!!
Great to hear it!
Thank you so much! I have been swimming for a month or two now but just got so mad about the swimcap, but this video made it so easy!
You are very welcome! Glad to have you at the pool.
Great video. Thank you for posting!
U make it look so easy
This helped so much thank 's
Merci ! Je vais tenter cette technique
Ça fonctionne (et ça me fait moins mal qu'avec un chignon/queur de cheval) mais le bonnet glisse
What does she mean by getting your hair wet before putting the cap on for protection? I'm starting to swim to try and get healthy. So I bought a swim cap to not expose my hair to chlorine everyday? Idk if that's actually a thing either lol. Tia! Any tips help :)
Misha Willie you can wet your hair in the showers first or fill your cap up in the sink - if you wanna get it wet first. Just a preference, if it works okay for you without then awesome keep doing what you’re doing...
Wow, what a technique!
Do all competitive gymnasts wear a tight swim cap often?
This was remarkably helpful
This is a nice. Thank you! ☺️
What pre-swim hair conditioner would you suggest? 🙏🏻 I have trouble with that, cause even if I wet my hair, it’s not enough.
We are patners with www.sbrsportsinc.com/index.html and recco their TRISWIM products. Or try a conditioner with little to no smell as you can taste it in the water after you put it on before your cap...so keep that in mind.
Extremely helpful 👍🏽👍🏽
thank you very helpfull
Thanks for amazing tip
Thank you!
Very helpful! Thank you and can you tell us what type of cap that is? Lycra? What is the material?
Carol, the cap used in the video is latex. This also works with silicone and we imagine lycra but we have not tested it.
@@USMastersSwimming Thank you so much. It’s always nice to get advice and recommendations from an expert :).
I put my hair in a ponytail
.
My hair is too short to put it up in an actual pony tail, and my hair is too long to put in a swim cap normally so i do this way.
Tysm for this 💓
AWESOME. Thanks!
Man, she should win a wizard’s prize for this. Incredibly impressed!
Thanks for the tutorial, now I don’t have to struggle for half an hour before I put one on!
Does it help prevent the water from getting inside of the cap? I really want to swim but afraid of dealing with wet hair everytime, since my hair is very unmanageable.
Some water will get under the cap, but your hair won't be drenched.
Mine always seems to slip off after a while, am I doing something wrong? I pull it down as far as I can but I always end up ditching it and swimming with hair in my face 😓
Probably not...maybe the cap is too big for you, try a kids one. No one will know the difference and it might provide a more snug fit...
Great! I ALWAYS soak my hair in fresh water BEFORE I put on my swim hat to protect my hair from chlorine etc.
Great to hear. Make sure to use a chlorine removing shampoo and conditioner after you swim too!
thank you to teaching me
Hi, thanks for the tutorial. Today I wore swimming cap before watching your tutorial. I don't have very long hair as yours but bleached hairs I have. So, I tied my hair and made a little bunny back of my head then put on the cap, but my hair was all wet afterwards.
Is it because of I tied my hair? Isn't it supposed to be all dry afterwards, or did I misunderstood the function of the cap? Thanks
Hi, thanks for reaching out regarding your follow-up on our "How to Put on a Swim Cap" video. So, your hair will still get wet under a swim cap, but it won't get tangled. A swim cap helps with a barrier against the chemicals in the pool. If you don't have a lot of hair, using a tie is completely fine. I would recommend spraying your hair with some leave-in conditioner before putting on the cap if you have treated hair. Also, make sure to use try-out TRISWIM shampoo and conditioner to help get the pool chemicals like Chlorine out of your hair after you are done swimming. That way, your hair won't turn green or orange after you swim.
@@USMastersSwimming Thank you very much for this well detailed and informative response in such a short time. Have a nice day, best regards.
She makes it sound so easy
Do all competitive gymnasts wear a tight swim cap often?
Thanks a bunch! I'm on swim team and when I compete and practice It took me forever to put my swim cap on, I didn't want to cut my hair short so..THANKSSSS!
Glad to hear it helped!
@@mastersswimmingevents YAY!
I have long thick curly hair and I’ll try this out next time I go swimming, not sure it will work though
Do all competitive gymnasts wear a tight swim cap often?
Hay thanks
I was told my ears have to be inside but I do that and my ear keeps folding like in half what do I do ???? And i have baby hairs in the back that don’t go in
Having your ears in or out is a personal choice. If you do put them under the cap, put the entire cap on first and then pull the cap away from your head right where your ear is with one hand and push your entire ear against your head with the other hand. Then, gently let the cap squeeze against your head again. For Silicone and Latex caps, the above method should work. If you use, Lycra or another fabric, your ears will probably keep bending.
Baby hairs are not going to always fit so let them hang and don't worry too much about it :)
What can I say? A lifesaver
Do all competitive gymnasts wear a tight swim cap often?
“Shove the hair under the cap” 😭 I end up ripping my hair out
Veryyyyy helpfulllllll♥ ty
Thank you
Edit: thankfully I can’t swim yet but my hair would still get damaged just from touching pool water (fair hair). So swim cap is helpful
Thanks . It's nice
😩my hair still gets wet ! I thought the cap protect the hair from getting wet
A swim cap helps your hair from getting tangled and drenched, it will however get a little wet.
When I wear hear cap l have a headache is there anything else to protect my hair in the swimming pool
Hi, there are extra-large silicon caps on the market for people who have a lot of hair. Have you tried those yet?
@@USMastersSwimming I’m not try this before but I will try this thank you honey 😘😘
@@howaydaabdeen2001 You are very welcome!
what do i do if I have bangs?
What are the conditioners?
hi , where did you get that swim cap, thank you..
Hi, you can buy the swim cap on this link; www.swimoutlet.com/collections/u-s-masters-swimming?rfsn=5448326.95a74f
Wow, it looked so easy when I tried to put on my swim cap that I looked like an alien.
Cone head is actually fine. it just looks a bit weird. won't affect fluid dynamics 😂
🤣🤣
How to keep it from sliding back
Hi, thank you for reaching out. The best method to keeping the cap from sliding back/off is to pull it down on your forhead when you put it on. Another thing to consider is not having anything grease on your hir before placing the cap on your head. Hope these two tips help!
Do all competitive gymnasts wear a tight swim cap often?
Hi, Competitive swimmers all wear swim caps for racing at elite events. Not sure about gymnasts; that's a whole other sport.
@@USMastersSwimming but don’t all competitive gymnasts swim very hard a lot?
@@mylesthomasandfriends838 No, gymnasts compete in gymnastics and don't swim very often. Swimmers, triathletes, open water swimmers, syncro-swimmers, and water polo players do swim very often.
@@USMastersSwimming why don’t all competitive gymnasts swim very hard often?
@@USMastersSwimming can’t all competitive gymnasts at least swim very well?
I Never, EVER place my hair dry into my swim cap...the cap will ruin your hair AND so will the chemicals!!! Get your hair wet girls... when my hair is wet it’s much easier to place it in my cap!
Thanks for that! I just watched the video. In reading thru the comments, I was wondering if it is harder to put on the cap with wet hair. Plus I didn't know/consider about the cap and chemicals affecting hair.
That's an okay way but it would get really tangled if the whole time you're just "shoving it in there". A better way would be to have a ponytail flipped over your head and put it on that way, or just do a bun and pull it over
Why not just put it in a ponytail/bun first? At least that’s what I do. Trying to shove hair in results in unnecessary effort, creating tangles a breakage too.
Hmmm or put your hair in a ponytail and then
Tamara tried and it didn’t work too well
Ya I still cant
Not only I have very long hair, but also thick, I had to buy a special cap because there's no way for me to put them in a normal one😅
What cap did you buy?? My hair is really thick and past my shoulders but grows like a weed....I need a cap but don't know what to buy
Welcome summer 💓💓💓💓💓💓💓. ومين عندها شاليه ؟؟؟ اناااا 🕺
Does this damage your hair??
Chlorine can damage your hair in extended use. However, if you get your hair wet before swimming, use a pre-swim conditioner or cover it in a cap, that will greatly help. We have not seen this technique damage hair at all. Happy swimming!
That looked really uncomfortable. Maybe a larger swim cap might be a better idea?
Why do you need a cap?
Blue Skies and so that the weight of your hair doesn't drags you back while you are swimming :)
Blue Skies less drag in the water, so it's easier to swim faster. If I didn't wear a cap, it would probably add four or five seconds on to my time, which is A LOT
Keeps your hair out of your eyes and off your face. If you have very long hair, it causes a lot of trouble out of a cap.
ALSO to not have the pool filled with shed hair everywhere!! gross!
Blue Skies every second counts 0.1 can make a difference
Hey
how do people look good with their swimming caps on😭😭
My 'Long Hair Cap' is so fucking tight!!! Do I just need to stretch it out overtime???
Or you could put your hair in a bun then put the cap on
Gabby Delacruz thin hair doesn’t stay in buns too well even for a bit
you're gonna look like a conehead!
Hair gets wet at the nape because of the bumby bun
Why does this women stress me out so much? Lol great videos tho. I’m gonna try this out with dry hair.
The camera position changes so often it stresses the viewer
🥰
a beautiful woman never mindswim cap dollbaby
Man this definitely won't work with box braids
Maybe don't wear a cap...?
@@USMastersSwimming I was trying to find a video so I could protect my hair from the water.
Are you ment to put it over ears or not
Most swimmers cover their ears. But, if it is uncomfortable for you, you can leave them out.
You make it look so simple. 🤕
@ 0:24 Whip it. Whip it good.
...into shape, shape it up, get it straight, go forward, move ahead - - dang this song is the perfect anthem for Joe!
Easier said then done😩
Wearing a swimming cap is more difficult than swimming
Hope this video helped!
My mom thinks those caps are to keep your hair dry XD
Grandma
So u dont took like a cone head
It should be focused to both sexes, not only females. But good tutorial.
Well if you have a guy who has long hair they can do the same thing..
Tie your hair maybe....
...put it in a bun first and then put the cap on.
That is another way to do it!
If u have nails it will eventually pull a hole in the cap. This is not the proper way to do it. Sorry
Micki hopson cut the nails .. ain’t hygienic for swimming
Stupid swim cap!!!!
