I gotta say, this is the best demo of this mixer on RUclips. I had to sit through so many useless so-called "demos" where the mixer was not as all demonstrated. Thank you for a great, very thorough and informative presentation. YOU sold me on this more than the videos pitching this mixer!
+u47tube thank you very much for your kind words. I am glad to be in assistance. Wish I still had the same time and silence to make more videos. Please check my newer videos, I just did two reviews of one of the KORG metronomes and there are few which I will upload next days, reviewing my newest drumming practice pad. Would be very thankful if you also subscribe. Thanks!
“Prepare for invasion!”. Best words I have heard for a long time. Thanks for the demo of some of the effects. I bought this model and I await its arrival, so I am glad I found your review to hear some of the effects ahead of time.
I had my 1202fx last nov 2013 and only now I've watched your very useful demo… my only comment is your fingers covering what you are touching… (smile). If you could provide another demo like this, lot of us would be very happy. thank you.
Thank you. However really no need for more detailed tutorial. This mixer is super-simple. Also you can always download the user manual from the official website to check details. This is what I do when I don't have the product but I want to see how it works.
"Are you ready to die? We come in peace." Never heard those 2 sentences back to back before. Ha ha. Love it!! Great video, informative with a bit of humour. Thanks!
Glad you liked! I know, I try to be a bit creative, so I try to insert here and there some jokes. :) By the way "We come in peace" is a quote from the DOS game "Star Control II" (you can find a free remake for Linux called "The Ur-Quan Masters") - there is a race of crystal-like creatures, whose collective consciousness is broken and all they do is they repeat this (then they shoot your spaceship). Highly recommend the game, if you never tried it.
Hi, since I decided to buy a 1202fx for my home sound system I've been looking for a real demo on this mixer model, but none came with so accurate info like yours, specially regarding the effects. Congratulations!! Very useful video...
Glad you liked and glad to help. So yes, the sound from the MAIN OUT of the mixer goes into the Presonus. The presonus is an audio interface, it converts the analog sound to digital signal so I can record it on the computer with good quality. I explain this in the video. But for more details, click my name to go on my channel, click "Reviews, Tutorials" playlist and click to watch "Recording audio on your computer" videos. I explain this in detail there. Hope that helps!
These are still very useful. The effects are excellent and its much cheaper to get one of these than to pay hundreds for multiple mic preamps on an USB interface. I use mine to bring together backing tracks, looper, 4 mics and camera audio then mix and line out to a focusrite solo in it a Surface Pro. Great for recording on the move or at gigs.
Hi, So your speakers you can plug on few places, depending where you want it: 1) MAIN OUT 2) CTRL ROOM OUT - In your case I doubt you would need two outputs, so put them on the MAIN OUT. Your laptop could go on one of the channels. Actually on two of the channels. So get a cable which splits (splitter) the signal from your laptop. So from the small jack on your laptop, to two 1/4" jacks. You can plug these on channel 1 and 2 to use the EQ. Regards!
@Renee Droulet, thank you! Well with this mixer what you want to do is not really possible. I would recommend you BOSS VE-5 or VE-20 - they can do pitch correcting. TCHelicon also had similar products but I am not familiar with them.
I used to DJ years ago and I had a really good Mackie mixer but I stopped Deejaying and sold off my equipment, big mistake, now I want to make a music room and I need a mixer again and this seems to have everything I need, and for a good price. Thanks for the demo!
Hi, can you combine 2 effects and edit how wet and dry the are, for example, can I have the reverb and delay effect on simultaneously and change how dry and wet they are individually ?
Thank you! Well it's a 12-channel mixer. You can connect anything. To be more precise - you can connect 12 things :) So let's say as I am talking with mic on channel 1, you can connect your mp3 player with mono jack on channel 2, or you can connect it stereo on channels 5 and 6. You can use the other channels as well. Only limit is whatever effect you choose applies to all channels. The only different thing you can control is how much the effect applies to the diff.channels, the pan and volume.
Nice review. I wanna to ask Do this mixer store the last effect that is set after i turn it off and and then power it on again? for example if i turn it off on the effect no. 99 and then i plug the wire and power it on again, Do the effect is still no. 99 or it will be changed?
Good question. As far as I know, the headphones out mimics the master out, so if you play something on the other channels, then yes, but how to record only the vocal, no idea
Thank you for you demo, it is one of the very few demos on this mixer. Would it be possible to do a more practical day to day demo of the use of the mixer. The effects are interesting BUT I think most probably used little. It would be good to see the use of the slider and control room outputs, that particular section and facilities of the mixer. Even more awesome would be a mix minus set up. That is the one aspect that really confuses people. More tutorials would be awesome.
"Prepare to die... We come in peace." hahaha. Thanks so much for this video, got a Volca Sample to go with my Minilogue and realized too late that I need a mixer! This one is almost too good to be true for the price. Thank you for the demonstration.
Hi and excuse my late reply. Glad to help and thank you for your comment. To be honest, maybe you did not need the mixer. Not sure. Because the concept of the small KORG gadgets (Volca, Kaossilator, Monotron etc) is that they always have a line-in input, so you can chain them together! I do not have any Volca, but I have the very first Monotron, Mini Kaoss Pad 2S and Kaossilator 2 (the small one) (you can actually check my videos - I made some funny house sets and a trance set). So even on the KORG promo videos, they show, that they designed these to be chained together, so you won't need a mixer. Still - as I said, I do not have a Volca and no Minilogue, so I am not familiar, however you might want to take a look at your Volca inputs. Probably Volca ddoes have a line-in...? Actually no need - I just did it for you - Volca sample does have a small jack for line-in, right next to the MIDI port. But still - a mixer is always a good idea. This one in the very least, gives you more effects. Regards, Stray F
PS: Why you don't post any music videos? Just checked your channel. Was curious what you created with your Minilogue and Volca. Post something mate! Regards, Stray F
1) I totally agree here - for best quality of effects and most important - for better effect control, a user should add external effect processors of his choice. However, for a starting point, they provided a nice effect palette. But speaking of better quality in general most people I guess would go for Allen & Heath if you ask them. So it's the entry level we are talking here. And for an entry level the Xenyxes are cool. ...........
Very good demonstration! However, I think that these effects are something like toys, just for a kid to have fun... I think a BEHRINGER Xenyx 802 would be a much better choice, it costs half the price. I know it has no effects, but you can link it to a better external effect module, and control it in the same way. Integrated effects rarely are good in cheap mixers. Try to link this mixer to a ZOOM G1 pedal effect, I made this setup and it's wonderful, also because you can personalize effects!
firstly thanks to your discussion I already purchased QX1002usb and i want to ask : 1-My unit became very hot during operation and unfortunately it does not contain a fan Is this normal?what about ur unit is it the same?is it dangerous?what is the solution? 2- the difference between QX1002usb effect processor and ur one 3-the difference of quality between my interface and ur one thanks in advance :)
I just got the same mixer..wondering whether you know whether I can use my 5.1 home theatre speakers as the main out? What speakers do u recommend for the main out?
Hey STRAYFERAL!!! this video was definitely a great presentation for the 1202 FX it was a great help in me understanding the board!! ...I also have the Presonus interface looks like you have it connected to the main outs on the board....WHAT DOES THAT DO? I would appreciate the help on that thanks
Hope you're still in tune with this mixer (2012 video Lol). I love the video as it encouraged me never to fear mixers ever again. Thank you for this. Anyways, I am new to Cubase (old cakewalk user) here. I wanted to record dry vocals but Cubase sounded wet and strange when its Mon-switch is on. So, I thought to dust-up this mixer I bought few years because I don't know how to use EQ of the Cubase and avoid the strange wetness.. My thought is to have: MIc XLR to (>) mixer, Mixer FX send to > Steingbert UR242 interface (windows 10 with Cubase Pro 10) > PC USB. Question is, how to listen to Cubase's recording in the mixer and not having sound of the PC (that may find its way back to the mixer for monitoring) without it being re-recorded with my mic takes? MIxer can provide me higher heaphone levels unlike UR242 and Cubase. Thanks and sorry for the long text.
Apologies for the late reply. I had some problems with RUclips. So to your question - unfortunately there is no real way. With a better mixer - maybe. But the way I see it - no way to listen to your PC output, trough the mixer. However, this is a model without audio interface, so you need an audio interface anyway, which will provide an output for you which you can listen to. But better get a better mixer for your need.
Hi Bill and apologies for the late reply, but had RUclips problems. Yes, whichever effect you applied on the audio signal will be recorded on your recording (will sound trough the master output and the monitor output)
Everybody to the left left left left left left left Move it to the right right right right right right right Great song. You're PAN rest just reminds me if that :D
strayferal awesome thanks! Also would you know how to rememedy another issue I'm having? My desktop/mp3 that I hooked up are being outputted through my mic. This leads to others in Skype or discord being able to hear everything including themselves.
I am not sure I understand the situation. Please explain in more detail. So you have some mp3 player, connected to the mixer but the mp3 output comes out of your mic, instead of the speakers/headphones?
strayferal so I have a mic in line 1, PC in line 5/6, and an echo dot (smart speaker) in like 7/8. What's basically is happening is that someone on Skype can hear the audio from my PC, the music, and themselves. I'd only want them to be able to hear me speaking to them.
aha, well can't help here. So you cannot officially have everything with volumes risen and say only this should go to the output. You have 2 options. 1) lower the volume to the min (mute) everything which you don't want them to hear OR 2) redirect the mic all the way to the LEFT, redirect (pan) everything else all the way to the RIGHT and then simply disconnect the jack of the master output RIGHT - you will have everything playing on the headphones, but they could listen only to you on the mic. No other ideas. Maybe you could do something else but I don't know...
thanks. very helpful. in live application would one use the main out for front of house and control room for monitor? are the contol room out clean sounding? thanks
BTW, I have an interface uac 202 and still don't know how to correctly use it. Can you demo on such connections for recording, connecting to laptop, etc?
good morning,im just starting to create sound set up,and i use mixer xynex1202,i have 2 actice speakers to be connected to main out,i just want to ask what the use of control room out,can i connect another set of active speakers or having actice speakers in the main out is enough to have a good sound?can i connect my projector with this mixer?where to be connected and what connectors? thank you very much.
How would I connect the mixer to an audio interface, then a computer/laptop? I'm going to get a mixer and microphones for drum recording, and I just can't seem to find ANY answers on what I would think is a pretty common and answerable question! LOL! I'm going to get this mixer, and a Behringer U-Control UCA222 interface. You seem to just have the cables in the main output jacks of the mixer... Don't I need to put anything into input? Basically, can I have the 'for dummies' explanation of how to mixer -> audio interface -> laptop?
what of one mic needs phantom power and the other mic doesn't , with 2 mics plugged in will the Phantom power on destroy the mic that doesn't need phantom power
i want to use this mixer in my music room room for my band practise and i will connect keyboard and mics so will i have to connect power amplifier with this mixer or it will direct connect to the normal speakers and will work good?
i have a doubt. how to use fx send. how to make it work. in other mixers there are aux return & fx send. here only fx send. please explain me how connect or use fx send here
To be honest I've never used effect processor with this mixer. I remember the manual was explaining something about it. Not sure but I think it was about using only one effect processor for the whole mixer. Not like separate effect processor on each chanel - this is available on the expensive models.
I realize this question is 6 years old, but on many Behringer mixers there is not a dedicated return jack for external effects. You have to use one of the 1/4” stereo channels as the effects return.
Hi! Great video! Im trying to take the high's out of my voice and lower the pitch a full key..is it possible? thank you and congrats on your newborn :)
Unfortunatelly not. One effect for all channels. But you control to which channels and how much of the effect to each channel. Sorry the late reply as well.
Can anyone tell me if I could connect CD player to channel 1 (via XLR)? Also channel 1-4 are Mono, will I get sound if I connect a stero device to the Mono inputs?
Thanks! Glad to be in assistance. I was thinking the same, but got this mixer because price difference was like 5-10$ so was no brainer. And you get some effects which you can always use on something.
hopefully you can help me. I gut this mixer today. and i have a problem that my friends cant understand me because its clipping with the fx. i dont know how i should fix it :(
So first rule - if sound is clipping (which is if the sound level LEDs hit the red which is marked "CLIP"), just slide the master volume slider (the one on the right) a bit lower, until the sound volumes hit max the yellow LEDs. Second - if the sound level is not clipping, but they can't understand you still, maybe the effect depth is too much - so turn counterclockwise a little bit the red knob on the channel where is your microphone is plugged in. If this don't help, turn a bit counterclockwise the red knob on the right, the one which says "fx to main". If this still does not help and they cannot understand you - just choose a different effect. Probably you selected some modulation effect which does not suit you, so choose a reverb or delay for example - try different effects, turn left and right the red knobs, see how it sounds to you. Good luck!
the problem is. i turned everythink of. its not clipping in the master volume led´s. the clip led is on next to the fx number. i dont know how tu turn it of. every red fx knob is turned to the left. And the red light is still on
Hi. 1) Mixers don't have fans because the fan might do some noise I guess. My mixer also gets hot it's normal. Don't worry. Don't put many things around it - leave some place so air can go around. 2) I don't know. 3) I don't know :) I don't have yours.
It's very easy. 1) you must connect your mixer to your laptop (or a recorder) to record your sound. 2) you use your cam to record the video 3) you use some video-editing program to combine the two. if you don't know how to record sound into your computer, watch my video "How to record sound" (click my name, then it's in "Reviews tutorials" playlist. Be sure to watch all the 2 parts.
+Johnathan Rodriguez with the help of a sound interface. This model does not have USB port. However there is another model, pretty much the same, with USB port, so you could look at it. Thanks
Thank you very much! No. You cannot. See there are only 4 XLR inputs - so only 4 microphones can be plugged. As for guitars I am not sure, but there are only 4 mono-channels - the same where are the microphones. So I guess this makes only 4 guitars. Or 1 guitar, 3 mics OR 2 mics and 2 guitars and so on. The other channels are stereo. But as I said I don't know anything about guitars. If you want more mics and guitars get a mixer with more channels. Regards!
I know, but back then (please check the date the video got published) I had no better ways to do it. Now I got different tripods, but back then I had none. Thanks for watching!
Would be very thankful if you also subscribe. Thanks!
“Prepare for invasion!”. Best words I have heard for a long time. Thanks for the demo of some of the effects. I bought this model and I await its arrival, so I am glad I found your review to hear some of the effects ahead of time.

Glad you liked! One of the best demo I have ever seen on effects, tons of thanks!!
how do you turn off the Fx?
Thanks for posting. I learned a bit. You're right about the power indicator, I've covered mine with plasticine.
Glad to be in assistance. Yes, it blinds you. Horrible thing.

Thank you so much for your review. I'm very happy with my 1202, and I'm just figuring it out.

5:43 "Ok this is annoying..." classic moment in this video!!
I know. This video was not scripted, so I just improvised :)
Really great video. I just wanted to ask if you can play a connected mp3 player at the same time and with effects as the channel your are talking on?
Nice review.
I wanna to ask Do this mixer store the last effect that is set after i turn it off and and then power it on again? for example if i turn it off on the effect no. 99 and then i plug the wire and power it on again, Do the effect is still no. 99 or it will be changed?
Thank you strayferal!
For mi it's very good information,
How many Delay(echo) efects it have only 54 or more?
Thank's
good overview - I bought one today, so I am now ready to go, thanks. ps - watched Part1 also..
Glad to be in assistance Bob. Enjoy!
So, what is the answer to the question below from kilikamusic? Can you assign different fxs to different channels?
I just answered him too. Unfortunately now. One effect to all channels, you control which ones and how much of the effect is applied.
Hpw can u feed music through the ear phones so you can sing on mic with music
Good question. As far as I know, the headphones out mimics the master out, so if you play something on the other channels, then yes, but how to record only the vocal, no idea

I just got the same mixer..wondering whether you know whether I can use my 5.1 home theatre speakers as the main out? What speakers do u recommend for the main out?
Is this good for recording at home... N how it can be plz put the video of how to connect it to desktop n take inputs for audio recording in DAW's
+surya mogali I already did such video. Please check here: ruclips.net/video/tVA6Nbqagng/видео.html
thank you stayferal😊
Hi
Thanks a lot for the video.
Can you please tell me if i can plug active speakers directly in the main out? Do i need an amplifier for that?
thanks, your demo made me a believer
Thanks Thomas. Glad to be in assistance.
Hey STRAYFERAL!!! this video was definitely a great presentation for the 1202 FX it was a great help in me understanding the board!! ...I also have the Presonus interface looks like you have it connected to the main outs on the board....WHAT DOES THAT DO? I would appreciate the help on that thanks
thanks !! I just got one and this was very helpful to understand the controls.
Glad to be in assistance.
How do you control what channel gets sent to the 1/4" FX output? Is it the same dial that sends the channel to the on-board effects?
Yes, use the red FX knob on each channel that you want to send to the FX send output
Is it possible to turn up the 75th effect or it's maxed out ? There's way to much natural voice to sound "dark"
I think it could. I remember I didn't turned the efffect depth all the way, as you won't understand what I am talking.
Hope you're still in tune with this mixer (2012 video Lol).
I love the video as it encouraged me never to fear mixers ever again. Thank you for this.

Hi, which sound card do you mean? The sound card on the computer or the audio interface I have?
Focusrite 6i6
hello can you record out of this mixer through line out fx please let me know? kind regards william c adlam in leek staffordshire in uk

@@strayferal crowd control from W&W i think
is there anyway i can get the FX to work without having my regular voice partly there?
Yes, there is a knob "FX SEND" - turn this to the max. It basically is the FX depth.
strayferal awesome thanks! Also would you know how to rememedy another issue I'm having? My desktop/mp3 that I hooked up are being outputted through my mic. This leads to others in Skype or discord being able to hear everything including themselves.

thanks. very helpful. in live application would one use the main out for front of house and control room for monitor? are the contol room out clean sounding? thanks
BTW, I have an interface uac 202 and still don't know how to correctly use it. Can you demo on such connections for recording, connecting to laptop, etc?
I already did a video called "How to record sound with your computer". Please just check my other videos and you will see.
If I plug this to an interface will it record to 1 channel? Or to the 12 seperate channels of the mixer?
hi, how are you? a question: can you set up the delay's tempo? or is always in the same preset tempo? cheers
+Jero mantis hi Jero, I'm fine and you? And thanks for the question. No, you can't set the tempo. It's a very basic but useful board.
Can you use an effect for one channel and another effect for another channel?
+patricksudbury No, unfortunately.
...where can i connect the guitar cord? Thanks
I am not a guitar guy and I am not familiar. But I think channels 1-4 are for guitars too. Please check the manual.
good morning,im just starting to create sound set up,and i use mixer xynex1202,i have 2 actice speakers to be connected to main out,i just want to ask what the use of control room out,can i connect another set of active speakers or having actice speakers in the main out is enough to have a good sound?can i connect my projector with this mixer?where to be connected and what connectors?
thank you very much.
I use the control outs to separate speakers as a monitor mix.
Basically, can I have the 'for dummies' explanation of how to mixer -> audio interface -> laptop?
whats the good effects for professional vocal sounds?
You have some reverbs and delays. Will do the job for live. For studio however choose another mixer.
strayferal specific reverbs and delays??
Depends on your song and what do you want to achieve. Just try some. There is no recipe.
ok man
can I use it with Numark Mixtrack Quad for virtual dj
Honestly I am not familiar with Virtual Dj. But you could ask in your local Dj equipment retailer.
what of one mic needs phantom power and the other mic doesn't , with 2 mics plugged in will the Phantom power on destroy the mic that doesn't need phantom power
How do you capture your voice form the mixer to your computer without interphase
mic in
i want to use this mixer in my music room room for my band practise and i will connect keyboard and mics so will i have to connect power amplifier with this mixer or it will direct connect to the normal speakers and will work good?
I use 5" active speakers and it works fine.
How did you get the sound from the mixer onto the camera? I want to record videos using the sound off my mixer. Thank You.
i have a doubt. how to use fx send. how to make it work. in other mixers there are aux return & fx send. here only fx send. please explain me how connect or use fx send here
To be honest I've never used effect processor with this mixer.
How do you record a video using the sound off your mixer. I want to record using mine. Thank You.
No problem Danny. I just answered your other question and I replied there how to do that. It's easy.
great demo, Thank you!
How can I put depth or echo?
Thank you Kevin! I'll see what I can do. However now I rarely do videos as my newborn takes almost all our time...
is this a good thing to record drums/ guitar and bass with?
Can I use 2 of these together (at the same time?) (chain linked) ?
+Neb Floyd Yes. You can do that with pretty much any mixer
My effects is not working , how to solve??
Hi! Great video! Im trying to take the high's out of my voice and lower the pitch a full key..is it possible? thank you and congrats on your newborn :)
how to connect to amplifier
Connect the master OUT L and Master OUT R to amplifier. Thanks for watching!
Unfortunatelly not. One effect for all channels. But you control to which channels and how much of the effect to each channel. Sorry the late reply as well.
so this mixer is preferred for live vocals only ? Im looking for a preamp but for home studio recording, vocals ofcourse.
JustHshow™ There is a USB version available as well which will be able to run straight into your computer.
Can anyone tell me if I could connect CD player to channel 1 (via XLR)? Also channel 1-4 are Mono, will I get sound if I connect a stero device to the Mono inputs?
Oh and thanks for the comment.
Good demo! However, I think I will go for the 1202 non-FX since the FX part won't be needed.
Thanks! Glad to be in assistance. I was thinking the same, but got this mixer because price difference was like 5-10$ so was no brainer. And you get some effects which you can always use on something.
I have the same model 1202fx but effects are not working can anyone help please??
how do one turn the mixer off?
+Theophilus Coakley by unplugging the power cord. Unfortunately.
Glad to help Cale.
thanks for ur quick response
LOL! congrats for the demonstration.
Thank you! Glad to be in assistance.
what speakers do you use
Alex Ingarfill KRK Rokit 5
hopefully you can help me.
And the red light is still on
if you want i can send you a picture of my mixer
Turn all red knobs to 12 o clock. See if this helps.
i did it but the same problem
Apex 850. It cost only $30 and I got it only for voice effects. For quality vocal recording, consider something else I guess.
Hi.
1) Mixers don't have fans because the fan might do some noise I guess. My mixer also gets hot it's normal. Don't worry. Don't put many things around it - leave some place so air can go around.
2) I don't know.
3) I don't know :) I don't have yours.
a small desktop or clip-on fan can keep things cool
It's very easy. 1) you must connect your mixer to your laptop (or a recorder) to record your sound. 2) you use your cam to record the video 3) you use some video-editing program to combine the two. if you don't know how to record sound into your computer, watch my video "How to record sound" (click my name, then it's in "Reviews tutorials" playlist. Be sure to watch all the 2 parts.
excellent brother
gracias por probar los efectos amigo
Thanks Rob, glad to help.
How can i plug this on my laptop ??
Regards!
what is your mic ???
very helpful and thanks for the great effort. :)
Glad to be in assistance.
The two color white and red it's for lap top
Thank you very much! Glad to help.
strayferal i don't fx on xenyx mixer 1202 mate thanks
You simply turn the effect knob counter-clockwise to the end.
Your hand is in the way to see and the unit should be turned!
I know, but back then (please check the date the video got published) I had no better ways to do it. Now I got different tripods, but back then I had none. Thanks for watching!
This helped me a lot thank you, it was also pretty funny :D
Glad to help :) And thank you!
Thank you for this!!! Very helpful. ^_^ UP for you bro!
my xenyx 1202 doesn't have xenys effects on my mixer thanks william c adlam in leek staffordshire in uk
You likely have the Xenyx 1202USB model, not the 1202FX model.
Where can you plug in an electric guitar? Which channel i mean
any channel with a 1/4 input jack if I am not incorrect
Brilliant overview. Very useful, thanks.
Thank you! Glad to be in assistance!
Yes, as far as I remember. Because I never turn the dial actually so it remembers my last preset.
