Thanks for this review, spent so long looking and reading about these bikes and decided to finally go ahead. I'm coming from a Triumph explorer 1200 xc to a 2016 z1000sx jus mainly as i wanted something less top heavy hopefully i am comfortable riding it.
Did your tigers gearbox explode too? Had the same bike as you, looking at this or a zzr14 but I’m a year round rider. Maintenance, insurance, ride ability is just better on the z1000sx
@@ra7238 the gears were typical triumph I had a sprint st 1050 before, the gearing is just clunky and not the smoothest. For me I wanted to get back the fun and smile factor and not have to deal with the weight of it. The z1000sx is the best bike I’ve ever had you’ll not regret it, the gears are smooth and the power delivery is excellent. If you have a look at some of my vids I’d only ridden the bike twice before we did a big trip to Hardknott pass and around the Lake District and I loved every second. Let me know how it goes.
I still cannot find anyting to replace the Kawasaki concours 1000 cc.... The last year 2006 in dark blue metallic.... I can't wait for a test ride to be over,, to get back on pure luxury and comfort.... A seat large enough for three people, comfortably and the ultimate wind control... The newer bikes are just way too small and are not sport touring bikes.... !!!
I have a 14 reg, owned for 1. 5 years, stocks windscreen provides no wind protection and I'm 177 cm, and the seat is very uncomfortable for a long ride, these 2 are the things would change to make it a perfect ride
Thanks for that Crohnie Biker, really useful information (as its on my shortlist). Especially the bit about the mirrors, as I have to manoeuvre through a side gate to get the bike to the front. Stay Safe, Cheers
This is ridiculous, I've just bought this actual bike today😮. Thought I'd pop on RUclips an this is one of the first reviews to come up 😂 I couldn't believe it when I saw the reg
That's an amazing coincidence, I did love that bike and I took great care of it while I was the owner. I did a trip yo Europe on it too . I miss it sometimes... Great engine. Had it still got the panniers on it and what's the millage now ?
@paulmackle1975 wow, it hasn't done much mileage since I part chopped it in for a KTM1190adventure at cmc clay cross. I then traded the ktm in for a cb500x and now I own a brand new honda nc750x with dct which I love . Hope you have many trouble free year's with it . Keep in touch 👍
Thanks for watching. The phone mount was from Ebay for mounting on your mirror stem bolt but I modified it with a piece of metal fixed on the sunscreen bolts and then sprayed black 👍
@@johnfagg7266 I love it John its lighter than the st and seems quicker although your through the gears quicker I preferred the St for that longer pull in the gears I love both bikes but if I had to chose one it'd be the z1000sx
I seem to remember the rear lasted really well i think about 7500miles Michelin Road 5. Obviously the front lasted even longer . I now have the KTM 1190 Adventure which is much harder on tires. Thanks for watching.
Thanks for watching, No they are not factory panniers I have a video of me making the frames at home in my shed to fit z1000sx .they worked very well 👍

Hi, How long can you use one set of tire?

@@Crohniebiker Thanks your answer
Where did you get the bracket for the cone holder to get it behind the screen
Hi thanks for watching, as I remember I made a bracket that fixed to the windshield screws and then just a cheap X mount from ebay .
@@Crohniebiker your a star great idea
Thanks for the reply
I’m picking one up next week can’t wait
You'll love it its a fantastic bike sometimes I wish I still had it .enjoy your new bike 🏍
Hi what's it like with pillion
It's not too bad ,it takes the extra weight fine and you don't notice any drop in performance. Thanks for watching.
Are those factory panniers?
