redwood original 1.5 years! Within 1 year I was running out of power. I have decided to wait for the 2016 version which comes equipped with slipper clutch, so that will be 2 years on EX300
I've watched loads of your videos and really like your style of reviews. After lots of umming and arring and going on a bunch of test rides I just got myself a new ninja 650. Keep up your great work your one of the best! I'm fed up watching 'professional' reviewers who get invited to special launch days, dined, get put in hotels and 2 days of ego massaging before letting them ride on beautiful roads. I prefer honest reviews like yours :)
Good review, Cager. I've had my eye on this bike for about 1 month now for my next upgrade. You've just helped confirm the things which make this attractive to me.
Thanks CagerOnTwoWheels you helped me make the decision to buy my Ninja 1000 with your informative comments and humour, you made me laugh with delight. Australian roads are fun to ride and am so glad I bought my Ninja, thank you :)
Tried this bike yesterday. I actually liked that I had to countersteer more than usual, gives it a nice feeling to ride and made me feel more in control. If it's too light it feels flimsy to me. BTW I also bought it. ;)
First time I have come across your videos... Loved it. you're a larrakin. The 'heaviness' in the cornering is due to kawasaki putting a 190/50 on the rear. Changing to a 190/55 makes the whole bike much more nimble, feel lighter, and reduces the amount of effort in countersteering.
Great review mate! You can really here the natural excitement of the ride in your voice. Yes, it's not scripted, but I think that helps the legitimacy of the review itself. I'm pretty keen on test riding one of these too. Nice work!
This review convinced me to buy my Kawasaki 1000 ABS - very similar bike. Love your reaction to the acceleration when you hit the highway. Thanks heaps!
Your Kawa-dealers suck. Mine just asked me how long I would need and handed me the keys over. Even though he never saw me before. And I brought it back with a big fat grin on my face. Like a german magazine said: The SX is a "Supersport-Tourer". Fun, fun, fun and fun combined with good comfort. Btw I know what you mean with that heavy and light feeling. The SX is very agile and stable at the same time. You need to work a bit to get it in the corner but then it feels like it's on rails. I think it's because of the rear tire but I liked it that way. PS: Nice video, good job.
Love this bike, bought mine (2012 model) last year and wasn’t too sure at first, due to the weight / seat height (I’m 5’7” and can’t quite flat foot it.) My Suzuki M1800 weights 360 MGS but feels more secure on flat feet. But now its second nature (one foot flat better than two on the toes) and I’ve grown to love everything else, the riding position, smooth fuel delivery, and it handles just great on the twisties (I’m comparing it to the cruiser!) Got more speed than I’m likely to need which is why I went for this instead of the ZZR which has HEAPS more than I need. Touring, commuting, or more intense riding, it does it all. I’ll probably rack up a lot of miles on this and I already know what to do when it hits 35k... go for the 2017 model
Brother/ you have NO idea how badass this bike really is. I take it out in the twisties (with the bags!) and I'm on the heels of gixxer 1000's, Ducatis, any liter bike you care to name. By the way, the wind screen is raised and lowered by pressing a lever under the right side dash. Pretty much can only do when at a stop but if you have long arms like me you can press the lever with your left hand and push up with your left elbow... lol. If you're just lowering it then just press with left hand and it'll drop down. You have to get used to it.
Test rode this today and have to say I agreed with pretty much everything you said about the bike. Coming from a Daytona 675, I was concerned about the weight, but while it does require more conscious effort, I wouldn't describe it as heavy but rather "planted"... Very re-assuring and confidence inspiring in the sweeping bends.
Hi Cager great review of the bike found it very helpful. I currently have a Honda NC750X and am considering trading up to the Z1000sx but i am also looking at the CBF1000 which one would you recommend?
Cager.. of all the bikes you have tried so far... if you where about to change yours for a new one or simply getting anode bike... what would you buy for yourself??? i have been viewing your videos for a couple of months now... very enjoyable and useful. i have owned a Harley Davidson Iron 883 2013, a Yamaha Vstar 1100 2007 and currently i do have a 2007 Vstrom DL650 (best one of the bunch by a lot)
VFR is a great bike that has an actual soul. It's very front heavy. For that matter it's just plain heavy. You climb on and you feel like the final jigsaw puzzle piece. Meaning you feel like you're part of the bike. I had a 2006. Recommend Pirelli Angel GT' s. Much better grip and easier turn-ins. Great mileage tire too. I averaged 11,000 miles per set.
Another great spontaneous and unscripted review by someone who is genuinely interested in bikes. Totally thumbs up! I think though I would prefer the Kawasaki versys 1000 2015 onwards.
That's a shame that they don't let you take the bike longer. I'm in Boston Mass. USA and dealers around here rarely let you test drive the bike you want to buy so I must rely on riders like you to give me insight. Even if I do test ride it I still rely on videos such as yours. Especially yours because you are real world as opposed to other testers who are expert racers (and they are never happy unless the bike is capable of 200 MPH). Love your vids..
Are you going to do a review of the GSR750? I am really interested and would like to hear your opinions on it. Love the channel by the way. Greetings from the UK.
Interesting that you mention advertising, since I did buy a Honda CB500x based on your very thorough review - and enthusiastic reaction. Not good news for your local shop, since I didn't buy it there. But good news for Honda certainly. So you are reaching the public.
Hey mate just quick.I'm just gonna pass my.test.to get.my.full license I'm 5ft8 would recommend it as.first bike? I heard it's not breath taking at low revs also considering.my height would.I be able.to put my.both feet on the road? Thanks
loved the review, nice to hear when you really enjoy the ride. I rode this bike once myself and I guess I had a big smile all the time I rode it.....the power just keeps coming and coming and seems almost endless. I ride a vfr 800 vtec myself but this will be the next bike on my list ;-)
Robert Aitken My next bike also. Currently got a 2017 Ninja 650 absolutely adore it but love the look of the Z1000sx. Just insurance is a bit steep for me at the moment.
Hey Cager love your reaction to riding this beast of a bike, i've got a ninja 300 had it a few years and almost saved up to buy an er6f but after seeing this i'm contemplating putting my money down as a deposit for a Z1000SX instead :) bit of a jump though from my 300....not sure....
Yeah, nice bike, though I kinda feel like it's a bit like they took a sport bike, tried to make it a 'touring bike' by putting some OEM hard cases on it...but I feel like not much else, maybe some suspension adjustment?
Love your videos man. I know what you mean about the heavy steering, I test rode a Ninja 1000 today, very heavy. Mind you, my daily ride is a hyosung 250 lol.
Hahaha me too. A year ago I saw his review and now I own one and without any regrets, what a nice bike. The only thing I do not like is the seat, it sucks. But that can be fixed with a Sargent seat. I always rode a Honda VFR which I loved very much, but this engine really is something else...Hope you will enjoy yours as I do mine. Many save miles ;-)

I'm staying with my Vstrom 1000 until next year, then going for the sport tourer but now you have me adding a 3rd option, the bike looks great, almost enjoyed the ride as much as you Ha 😀👍
Pretty sure at 33 seconds into your clip you can distinctively see the ABS on the left front break rotor, I cant make my ninja 1000 skid out with ABS in OZ. My advice for the indicators is DONT drop your bike, and please read manual for windscreen adjustment. I appreciate your comments but please don't DISS Team Green without proper knowledge and research . Regards crazy Chris. Thank you for your post
just saw the entire review, and i must say, it is kind of annoying when you say: "Does this have... uhh... I Don't Know!". You should prepare yourself a little more prior the testdrive, do some research, so you dont have to go "I dont konw".

Lol. Ofc this bike does have ABS. I own this bike, it does have it without any additional price and you can see it on 0:36 that the breaks do have an abs ring!
Sportsbikes have a different Rake and Trail setup, its natural to feel like its unwilling or heavy to turn before you get totally used to body weight transfer on one.
I'm shure there are plenty of other videos for you on the web.. I find it facinating that you want to shut this guy up...... I like to cruise around the countryside on my V-strom 1000, I have ridden since 1982, and I find Cagers videos amusing and helpful. I too see his limited experience, but he never tried to hide that fact. Lighten up and enjoy !
Considering this is a 20 minute review and you made a Portugese language review after this I assume you must have had this bike for about an hour or so. When I go into a bike dealership to ask for a test drive they'll tell me to be back in half an hour. 30 minutes! I don't understand how they think I can form a decent opinion on a bike in only 30 minutes, that's only barely enough to take it for a spin around the dealership and back. No time to go look up some twisty paths, no time to head for a motorway and give it some beans and certainly no time to get a feel for what it must be like to ride it for longer periods of time. You're very lucky to have a dealership nearby that is willing to lend you a bike for a couple of hours, whereas I often get a flat-refusal to take a bike out because I have no intention of buying. :
According to various graphs and flowcharts the bike produces 15 torque more than the ZX-10 across the rev range all the way up to 8k, at which point the ZX trounces the SX. Haven't had a chance to ride either so can't comment. Really, no ABS? Maybe it's different in the EU but in US market it is standard equipment.
How can a so called reviewer get an a bike for a review without studying basics (abs y/n, windshield adjustment, mirror adjustment, cluster display information...) prior riding! Common sense (such as owner manual) recommends getting familiar with the bike before riding it...anyway. I enjoyed your ride.
Not impressed with this review. I know you said that you were not given enough time by Kawasaki and it showed painfully well. I like your other videos because you are quite objective but here I think it was disappointing! Do it again :)
They are both sport touring bikes from Kawasaki and I for one wanted to know the difference having owned the Connie previously. Funny what pisses people off.
No Cager you can't test ride our bikes... said the stupidest dealer ever. 145k views and counting. I wonder if a couple of them bought this bike? Reckon so, huh?
I am upgrading from a Ninja 300 and I am definitely getting this bike. This review sealed the deal! Thanks pal.
redwood original 1.5 years! Within 1 year I was running out of power. I have decided to wait for the 2016 version which comes equipped with slipper clutch, so that will be 2 years on EX300
Good jump … ninja 650 is a very good bike but skip and go to z900 or ninja 1000

Great demonstration to give us a taste of bike's capabilities in all around traffic and city.
even with your rushed reviews I still greatly enjoy the information!
"We are going to give it some of the beans" loved it lol
Kawasaki should thank you. you've just convinced me to buy one..

Cager, how would you compare it to honda vfr800f?
Hello Cager,
Z1000SX feels heavier because of her 190 rear tyre, i think.
Its the profile. Needs a 55 profile
Great bike, I own one now, I love it.
Robert Aitken My next bike also. Currently got a 2017 Ninja 650 absolutely adore it but love the look of the Z1000sx. Just insurance is a bit steep for me at the moment.
For English being your second language, you speak very well!
Nice one Cager, great one. Question mate, can you make a test with the smaller brother as well(Z800)? Thanks! :) All the best, happy new year mate! :)
Cager, hello, could you pls tell me about gsxs1000 and z1000sx, which one do you preffer

I watched the whole video, you've got an entertaining way about you. "Don't pull out on me, don't pull out on me.......that's what she said" lol.
cager can you make a review on the yamaha bolt when it's available in your country? i think you may love it , fantastic design as usual from yamaha
I really like your style, man, greetings from neighbouring Spain.
Just test rode the 2017 version and i agree with all your points too. Although i had ABS 😀
Great fun review . Loved you opening it up
"Dont pull out on me, thats what she said"
Hahahahaha great review, love the channel
Cager. The bike feels heavy in the turns because of the short sport handlebars.
It is a great bike but first models need upgrades on seat, gear indicator, and two headlights ON on low beam.
Love your videos man. I know what you mean about the heavy steering, I test rode a Ninja 1000 today, very heavy. Mind you, my daily ride is a hyosung 250 lol.
I really like ur testrides. Is it possible that you make a review about the Kawasaki Versys 1000 2015? That would be great. Thx a lot and go on.
You have sold me this bike, I'm going to buy one.
I have one now, it's fantastic.
hello.ı am your fan from turkey.
my english is poor, sorry about that
may ı ask you something to camera and sound?
your cam voice is brilliant.so what cam do you use your tests. gopro? sony?
my speaker is garbage.there are so many noise.what can ı do about that?
thank you for your answers
Do you have the Versys 650 over there? I'd be interested to hear your thoughts on it.
Ah OK, that's a shame :/
Grande máquina ! Admiravelmente não é uma trail nem uma scooter como é apanágio do canal ! Mais máquinas destas, máquinas a sério menos aspiradores , PLEASE?!!!

It sounds like the power never ends.
Ok Cager NOW YOU KNOW why I luv my Honda Super Black bird so much it's EXACTLY like this totally awesome Kawasaki but it's a little faster. You can take A PASSENGER in comfort and TOUR on these bikes and you still have supersport litre bike performance ( or better !) I will NEVER ride anything else!
Slow or difficult steering on that bike apparently has a lot to do with tire pressure being low, and only slightly.
The Zed is a beast, i almost bought one (naked) then i appreciated my life and bought an R6 instead hahaha
just saw the entire review, and i must say, it is kind of annoying when you say: "Does this have... uhh... I Don't Know!". You should prepare yourself a little more prior the testdrive, do some research, so you dont have to go "I dont konw".

It's Funny xD
Finally!! New testdrive :)
I enjoy your vids. If this is a 2013 model then it is possible it did not have ABS, but ABS is now standard on the SX (a.k.a. "Ninja 1000" here in the US).
I just took another closer look at the brake hardware at about 0:30 or so. You can definitely see the ABS sensor ring through the wheel (it's that smaller slotted ring on the left side of the front wheel). So this bike actually DID have ABS. Maybe you turned it off accidentally while you were playing with the buttons?
It's a very cool toy but the controls aren't especially obvious.
Chris Craddock Correct - the Kawi in this video does have ABS and it's full time. Only the traction control can be turned off.
How hard is that luggages panel?is that puncture prof?if its not, does it quality equivalent to touratech luggages?
Great job with the time you had, nice bike indeed. I also noticed you kept it G rated, no cursing, let me say thanks, I do get so tired of hearing it, so I stop watching, I figure smart people, don't need to fill the videos with profanity. Thanks for a well done review ! yl
Se não estou enganado, rotunda de entrada em Sintra e depois seguiste para o lado de do Estoril ;)
Bela mota...
You mentioned the exhaust likely to blow on the panniers, how is it?
Cager, this is a beast.
A sweet one at low and mid rpm´s. ;-)
Lol. Ofc this bike does have ABS.
I own this bike, it does have it without any additional price and you can see it on 0:36 that the breaks do have an abs ring!
Ye maybe it is an extra... But this ring can only be the abs-ring and just the abs-electronic is missing :)
abs sensor´s wheel is wery easy to identify on the rim hub ;)
Fun and informative reviews. Keep it up.
Sold... I will get one. :) Nice review... been looking for a nicer review.
I really enjoy your videos
Passas todos os dias ás 8.00h pelos salesianos mas é sempre na NC :)
What microphone do you have cager ?
i'm on my 4th z1000sx got the 2019 mod before the single can came out ,the dials are not the best for reading better on the 2020 mod
Can't tell if the bike has ABS. I stopped there.

***** As a joke.
Hi cager! I'm from Brasil and I first watched you speaking english, now i can't stand you speaking portuguese. Great videos.

Cager which is nicer this or the Yamaha 1300 FJR?
I have the FJR 1300 and it's very very heavy bike. Unless you are always riding two up I would go for the Kawasaki.
you got to do R1 testdrive & review
CagerOnTwoWheels Indeed do the R6! review and yes im a yamaha fanboy hehe
keep up the great videos!
btw I'm Portuguese too
nice review
Is this available in the states?
I miss my Portugal!
Lord Grief Mc. Scumbag
It has ABS he just doesn't know it.
lovely :) but you have to get hands on the ZZR dude...it will blow your head off :D
Very nice bike. Windscreen looks shitty.
In Singapore the bike costs $35000 USD & no test ride 😜 be grateful my friends 🙏🏼
Got myself a blue one there n the bloody snow is back on 😡
qual é o nome do canal português?
awesome buddy
How can a so called reviewer get an a bike for a review without studying basics (abs y/n, windshield adjustment, mirror adjustment, cluster display information...) prior riding! Common sense (such as owner manual) recommends getting familiar with the bike before riding it...anyway. I enjoyed your ride.
Not impressed with this review. I know you said that you were not given enough time by Kawasaki and it showed painfully well. I like your other videos because you are quite objective but here I think it was disappointing! Do it again :)
Very nice!
"It's large and it's here between my legs.."
Test a ninja 300 please!! It would be amazing!!
Oh thats a pity
It's a little bit strange to compare this bike with the GTR, they are not in the same category. Really frustrating to be honest
No ABS?? Mama mia, what were they thinking?
@ 3:21 - LOL!!
