    In a strange way, this accident demonstrates what phenomenal machines these LMP1 cars are. They are extraordinary other-worldly pieces of machinery that dice with disaster every time they are travelling at warp-factor 9 and shoot past "mere" Ferrari 458s and Porsche 911s. It's only on the rare occassions it goes wrong in a BIG way like this that you truely see just how much kinetic energy is going on in these amazing cars.

    • @patrickpelletier6315
      @patrickpelletier6315 7 лет назад +60

      those are hard hits but these cars shred themselves apart on impact and that's what you want when you're the driver. because it dissipates the energy. this was undoubtedly a massive crash though

    Such an emotional moment of Porsche Team. Looking back I was shocked to read the news and read Mark's biography in after he had a crash, he got a lot of messages including from Seb his former trammate. It showed how a lot of people concerned and cared about him. Mark said that he couldn't remember clearly why it happened when Timo asked him.

After something like this they should just red flag clean thoroughly and let everyone use a set of tires normally held back by the FIA people will drive over these sharp carbon parts. A good crash is part why people watch no more driver's dying though you don't want a tire to just give way on the straight and kill spectators or the driver.
