- Vampire Weekend returned in 2019 after a long, long time away. Since 2013's Modern Vampires Of The City was released, the world has changed a lot. But here, on stage sound-checking at London's Islington Assemble Hall, Ezra Koenig and co show us that, with great music, comes great vibes. This Life is set to be the feel good hit of the summer, and it's pretty easy to see why; delicious guitar licks, one of Ezra's best vocal performances, and the word "California" bellowed again and again. Pure bliss.

Yoga Nandiwardhana And yet Ezra coined the best VW album so far. Don’t get me wrong, Rostam is and was great but he wasn’t the only genius in VW and I wouldn’t say the 4 people are replacing him. They’re a different band now.
Haut Strange it’s funny haha I agree with both of you: I believe they’ve evolved into a completely new band, but they kinda always do, you know? Reinventing their sound and what not. This new album is PURE! As a big fan of the trilogy, this new one I was subconsciously judging. But it’s so fucking great, I’m so curious as to what Rostam’s contributions were on it!

Great song, great album, but why does Chris Baio have a mic in front of him? I've literally never seen him participate in backing vocals.
He usually does backing vocals in Ya Hey and White Sky. And now we have to see if he replaces Rostam in the backing vocals of the other songs (?)
@@leonardowaldo3157 Thanks Leonardo, I checked out live versions of both and, your'e right, Chris does, um, "sing" backing. Well, he doesn't really sing, but noise does come out of his mouth. : ) Anyway, I love all the guys in VW and I sure do miss Rostam already. Looks like they have several new voices - both male and female - that will cover his parts when they play live.

It’s called a talk box. It hooks up to your guitar and you talk into the plastic piece and your voice makes the sounds of your guitar. Peter Frampton is probably most famous for using it in the 1970’s. Ezra has been using it in their live shows to sound more groovy and jam out.
