I'm a 134 year old white man who lives in an abandoned lighthouse and for most of my life the only music I listened to were whale songs. Then I discovered Vampire Weekend. Music is universal
"I'm a loner, but I'm kind of a people person, too". Yeah, that really is good. Great song & video. The words are sad, but the music is uplifting. I'm 76, and I keep on playing this song over & over. I think this song appeals to all age groups.
This is one thing with the Vampire Weekend and almost all of their albums; I don't understand 90% of their songs but it always makes my heart warm inside. Like my heart gets it. My ears, never.
I have a hard time expressing myself but the love of my life showed me this song and now im trying to get her back. Whenever I feel down ill come back to listen to this to motivate me.
I'm 73 and have been playing this song on my 6 String Cherry Red Guild or my 12 string with my computer and Spotify or You Tube. Love the lyrics and Ronson hooked me with the guitar riff a la Van Morrison's Brown Eyed Girl. Love the Passover shots, wine glasses, Seder and Yarmulkes ....and hope that COVID-19 finally passes over all of us like the 10 Passover plagues. Can I get an Omain (Amen)? MO
This whole album has got to be one of the best records that I have heard in a while... Great stuff Vampire Weekend... This song takes me to my happy place, even though the lyrics are quite the contrary... ;)
I think the tremolo is the highlight of this song. It's such a perfect use of the effect, I sometimes keep this song on repeat just to experience it again.
Are they? They debuted at the number one spot on the US Billboard 200. They won Grammys for Best Alternative Music Album for two albums and they've released five albums with their latest debuting this year. Not to mention they're playing sold out concerts everywhere. I'd say they have a decent following.
They're perfectly underrated... Go talk about them to strangers.. When I went to their sold out shows this year, nobody knew who I was going to see@@TheBuefurd
For years, this song has always been so sunny to me... and now 4 years later, some of the lyrics just suddenly hit completely different, and the sadness and pain in there just bled through.... such a good song, such a good band.
I just love this song! I've had it on the playlist on our catering truck here in Los Angeles for 3 months and it just doesn't get old. Gotta be that twangy guitar and reverb!
Great song! I just started hearing this song on the local alt music radio station. The guitar sounds a lot like Johnny Marr's piece in 'This charming man' by the Smiths.
Aw man. I am the guy with the beards twin for sure. I hate people but always end up around them...or is it that they always seem to be around me!?! Haha. The way they brought the video together with that guy speaking at the very end almost gave me chills!! Love music and videos that make my soul reach!! Im so glad i opened my eyes to true life. Before...i would never listen to this. Expanding your spirit is EVERYTHING. Doors just open left and right when you start doing whats right for the spirit. Its insane and the greatest journey i ever endured. 🤗❤💪
Such beautiful looking people in this music video. Every single one of them looks beautiful in their own way. I love living in such a beautifully diverse world! 💕😍
FINALLY! A music video that matches the vibe of the song. I liked the visions I got in my head, but this is even better. Just in time for summer too! Thanks for another song in the soundtrack of my life!
this song is amazing - the only thing i dont understand is why the bass starts at 04:48 with the awesome Graceland sounding bass lick when the song already reached its end
Being away from festivals and concerts, ive not up with music. At okachobbee festival these guys were possibly the best band. Luckily i happened to walk over right after g Jones to the right stage.
Man this song reminds me of her so bad, this song really takes me back to that time, because this is the song that I shared with her and this is the song that I used to listen o all the time when I was with her
This song reminds me of good old summer days ...watching cartoon on TV... Eating ice cream .... Playing in sun in the garden .... making summer vacation projects.... Ah I miss those days...
Music is the universal and timeless language! I'd love to hear your thoughts on this band seeing as you have years of experience listening :) ruclips.net/user/results?search_query=ready+meridian+lights

Its a very good pop song, very few are made these days and this never became "a hit"
yeah you are right , I am 19 and i love this song
Congrats on doing something most 76 year olds are scared of, using the net
Age is just a number my friend, enjoy all the music you can
I’m 17 and I love this song
"Darlin' our disease is the same one as the trees, unaware that they've been livin' in a forest" is probably my favorite line off this album
Mine has to be “baby, I know death probably hasn’t happened yet, because I don’t remember living life before this”
What does that mean though?
"And I was told that war was how we landed on these shores, I just thought the drums of war beat louder warnings" hit me hard
@@aunthaumv3711 I think it means that we're all hurting, even the earth, but we are connected somewhat because of that

Wow, this is spot on.
Reminds me of what ladies accuse me of.....but I’m mostly a loner.....(cheating to be alone, set to good notes)
There will never be a band as perfect that fills me with joy as much as vampire weekend. Hope to see Ezra and his buds play live soon.
Yes dude, 2 years brought up to date from me to you........how is your life?
@@dudusmcrudus I’m not the one you’re talking to, but my life is pretty amazing. I have an amazing family, great friends, and it’s summer break.

Danced like crazy to this song under the rain. This life isn't so bad after all.

Amen brother,
Amen, good sir!
This song is EVERYTHING. Speaks to the depth of our existence, with brilliant guitar riffs and melody. Literally everything.
That last scene is both incredibly sad and hopeful. What a beautiful video.
It’s amazing how such a seemingly depressing song can put a giant smile on my face.
Underrated this band. They are formidably good. ❤
Ezra cried POWER when he sang "Baby, i know pain is as natural as the rain" 😌✊
fairy tail reference?
Nina Simone methinks

How has it already been 3 years? So crazy! This song brings back so many good memories and feelings of pure joy.
@Samuel Powell Lol I hope this is self-promotion. Solid track. Thanks for the rec!
Going on three years later and this album is still regularly played. It's Shins level ear worm/pop perfection.
Yeah I get this album in my random giant 1000 song deep Spotify starred playlist at least once a week.
2:00, 2:08 the few secs at these time stamps were used for the show UPLOAD from Amazon prime or Netflix.
This whole album has got to be one of the best records that I have heard in a while... Great stuff Vampire Weekend... This song takes me to my happy place, even though the lyrics are quite the contrary... ;)
I've just discovered this song and it makes me cry, it reminds me old 90's series credits, when I was a teenager...
They even dug up Tommy James' Crimson & Clover tremolo affect on the vocals at the 4:20 mark. I'm dancing away to this great tune!
I think the tremolo is the highlight of this song. It's such a perfect use of the effect, I sometimes keep this song on repeat just to experience it again.
Jesus, this might be my favorite Vampire Weekend song. I haven’t been able to stop listening to it.
One feels the heart of the songwriter and singer. Brilliant ready made classic.
Father of the Bride is a modern philosophical masterpiece. I can't think of an album in recent memory that has stirred such emotion in me.

Pretty incredible acting out of Kyle Field. That last sequence is just amazing. This is the video that kicks summer off.
one of the most melodious and meaningful songs I ever heard
Can’t get enough of this album
And the album sends love to you!!
Just awesome music.
That's what I call blessed music.
Simple but powerful at heart. 🌈✌️
saw their album on billboard 200, wasnt disappointed
Their 3rd straight number 1 album. Not bad for an indie band in a time where indie bands are dying out.
Now go back and listen to the other 3 albums... boom. New favorite band.

Love that Paul Simon vibe. Summer's here all right.
Also, I love the criticism in those lyrics. :-)
YES, thats exactly the artistic I think of when I hear this song!
This song seems like one of those super catchy indy songs that hipsters once loved but end up despising following its popularity.
This song deserve atleast 200 million views , come on guys 😍
We are all the same. Once we realize this fact... We can continue on as animals of love and compassion. This song makes me feel this way.
