It’s not certain whether this song was done back when he was still an active member of the band but yes, he did say he would still collaborate with the band in the future. Either way, Rostam rules and it’s great that he’s still present in the new material, no matter when it was worked on. VW would not be what they are and wouldn’t have a signature sound without him.

This song is like waking up early in the morning. Sun peeking above the horizon, birds chirping and during the day, you meet all kinds of people. Good, evil, content, unrested, so many different elements, and they all work together to shape what day you will have, then at the end of the day, it's time to rest. The sun is going down and it is getting dark, Time to sleep.

For me, this song is about survival. I played it after one of my best friends died in 2019. I couldn't think of any other more fitting song because it perfectly encapsulated my thoughts. Part of me wanted to die without him, but part of me wanted to survive. I've discovered many snakes in my life, hiding in plain sight. It has sent me to a place of darkness but this song sheds light on that feeling. This song is cathartic. I was stunned when I first heard the lyrics. Anger does want a voice, and we battle our anger so it doesn't control us. We can't let it spiral out of control or morph into a chorus of angry voices in a mob. Problems are eternally cropping up. But in the end, after all of it, you have to choose to survive in this world. What an amazing song.

Raisa Bruner says: " "Harmony Hall" is sweet and nimble, a welcome return to form for a group that always seemed to float atop the currents of pop and rock. Ezra Koenig isn't necessarily joyous here: "I thought that I was free from all that questioning / But every time a problem ends another one begins" he laments. But his often-cryptic lyrics find balance with a tune that is buoyant with rich guitar and piano riffing that will make old-school fans happy. "

    LYRICS:
We took a vow in summertime
Now we find ourselves in late December
I believe that New Year’s Eve
    Will be the perfect time
    For their great surrender
    But they don’t remember
    Anger wants a voice
    Voices wanna sing
    Singers harmonize
    Til' they can’t hear anything
I thought that I was free
    from all that questioning
But every time a problem ends
    , another one begins

    Chorus:
And the stone walls of Harmony Hall
    bear witness
    Anybody with a worried mind
    Could never forgive the sight
    Of wicked snakes
    Inside a place
    You thought was dignified

I don’t wanna live like this
    , but I don’t wanna die

Within the halls of power lies
A nervous heart that beats like a young pretender’s
Beneath these velvet gloves I hide
    The shameful, crooked hands
    of a moneylender
    Cos' I still remember
    Anger wants a voice
    Voices wanna sing
    Singers harmonize
    Til they can’t hear anything
I thought that I was free
    From all that questioning
But every time a problem ends
    Another one begins

    Chorus:
And the stone walls of Harmony Hall
    Bear witness
    Anybody with a worried mind
    Could never forgive the sight
    Of wicked snakes
    Inside a place
    You thought was dignified

I don’t wanna live like this
