We took a vow in summertime
Now we find ourselves in late December

Will be the perfect time
For their great surrender
But they don’t remember
Anger wants a voice
Voices wanna sing
Singers harmonize
Til' they can’t hear anything
I thought that I was free
from all that questioning
But every time a problem ends
, another one begins
Chorus:
And the stone walls of Harmony Hall
bear witness
Anybody with a worried mind
Could never forgive the sight
Of wicked snakes
Inside a place
You thought was dignified
I don’t wanna live like this
, but I don’t wanna die
Within the halls of power lies
A nervous heart that beats like a young pretender’s
Beneath these velvet gloves I hide
The shameful, crooked hands
of a moneylender
Cos' I still remember
Anger wants a voice
Voices wanna sing
Singers harmonize
Til they can’t hear anything
I thought that I was free
From all that questioning
But every time a problem ends

And the stone walls of Harmony Hall
Bear witness

So, going through some stuff and I hear, “I don’t wanna live like this, but I don’t wanna die”. For some reason it made me a little bit happier…
Nostalgia. I remember my mother going to another country for a few weeks for an important thing and me, my sisters and father stayed at home. My best friend picked us up for school and we chatted a lot during that time. I remember back then my father played this song a lot in the car as he picked us up from school. Those days were amazing, I miss it :(
Love the Dead influence! What a great inspiration for a new band!
I've listened to this song an ungodly amount of times
One of the greatest bands in the last 20 year for me defonin my top 5
The layers on this video are incredible. Forget the Paul Simon comparisons, there's big time Peter Gabriel vibes here.
Ryan Bogert More Grateful Dead.
@@aherrmie I was thinking more sledgehammer video. But I can see the dead shining through too
Very 80's Paul Simon style. Love it
MKECBS1 i thought it was just me but this totally has paul simon vibes
Me too!
Ezra Koenig has always had Paul Simon vibes - great lyric writing and ridiculously catchy music. First time I noticed that was when I first heard Cape Cod Kwassa Kwassa and it reminded me of Paul Simon's Graceland album.
Actually, I would call it early 90s Brit pop influence (Blur, etc.)
@@mcktbfl exactly what I thought!!
This song is about absolutely everything. Tragic.
Loving this song. The guitar lick. The whole song. Thank you, Vamp Wknd. So glad you're back.
Yes! As soon as I heard that picking in the beginning I was hooked. Otherworldly fingering.
The first time i heard this song was in a gas station, and i vowed to never forget the name..the other times i heard this song i immediately thought “harmony hall” and now its kinda my fav song
Just watched "Still: A Michael J. Fox Movie". I'm touched. The song tops off the movie perfectly! Thumbs up! :)
