    The Witcher 2, an example of a game that looks *so much more* better as a final product than the E3 presentation.

    The Witcher did to me, what only Baldur's Gate and Deus Ex have done to me. So that makes 3 games now :p
    Can't wait for number 2, so far it looks really impressive. I hope this time more people will appreciate these series, cause the first one is a bit underrated imo.

    Dying platform? PC isn't that platform that requires 100s of millions in cash injections to stay relevant.
    What do console gamers boast about? Halo, Killzone, Alan Wake, Heavy Rain, Uncharted, Gears of War etc. 1st party funded titles, the lot of them. If Sony/Microsoft weren't pouring money into their platforms, these games either wouldn't exist; or would be cross platform.
    How does throwing money around to stay popular prove PC is dying and consoles are doing great?

    @hoodfigga33 Cool, thanks. yeah, I've been leaning towards getting the 360 because either way I'll have to be patient and save if I want a gaming PC. I still have to play the first Witcher, which I purchased on Steam, but it doesn't run on my laptop, so I'll have to find an alternative...If I haven't played the game by the release of Witcher 2, maybe I'll watch a playthrough of it on youtube or something, lol.

  • @JBhag21
    @JBhag21 14 лет назад

    I really hope this comes out on consoles as well. I'm looking to buy a gaming PC, but that may take a while. PS3 PLEASE! So, should I get the new 360 or focus my funds on getting a good PC? (Keep in mind, I've never owned a 360; it would be my first one).

  • @Daxter609

    @aaronconlin It's not been stated official for console, their is a chance if there crap hardware doesn't cripple the game(main reason why the The witcher 1 didn't come to console, the outcome was pretty bad so they cancelled it). I don't know how they'll do it with The Witcher 2 since they claimed all these features like imports of data from the first one, much larger maps(console RAM is too small minimum requirements for this game is 1gb of RAM). The PC pretty much let them make it their way.

  • @Daxter609
    @Daxter609 13 лет назад

    @AdoreYouInAshXI I agree I'm tired of people making up that "replayability" bullshit for shooters simply because they offer multiplayer. Most mainstream Shooters these days are barely innovative. I remember when shooters like Arma, Red orchestra, Counterstrike, FarCry, Golden Eye, Crysis, Half-life 2, Battlefield 1942 and Portal they actually took it up a notch and raised standards for Shooters meanwhile everyone was out buying the latest half assed CoD. I miss good single player games :(

    @jasanimans As someone who plays games extensively on both consoles and PC, I can safely say that it really depends on your intended audience. Hardcore pc RPG's like the Witcher, Witcher 2, other CRPG's and other PC only games have certain technical nuances, play styles and levels of complexity that, quite frankly, wouldn't sell well on consoles. Games that shift their prioritized audience from PC to console tend to do so only with excessive streamlining (i.e. Dragon Age to Dragon Age 2).

    @abram730 yea i see so much advertisement on that shogun 2 game, im gonna have to check that out soon. at the moment though im probably going to have my hands tied up with witcher 2 tomorrow and then LA Noire, *smiles* its such a great year for PC gaming, and only going to get better....Skyrim, Battlefield 3, COD MW3, Max Payne 3, Hunted: Demons Forge, Deus Ex Human Revolution, RAGE, Mass Effect 3, and sometime maybe even Metal Gear Solid Rising I hear will make it to PC, not sure when though XD

  • @unleasheth
    @unleasheth 13 лет назад

    @abram730 true that, i saw some of them and the prices were way over my head lols, i had to look for a long time before i found my 5870 2Gb card at the price i was willing to pay for it, but yea i was sure eye balling the 3-4Gb cards. Way i see it, the majority of people are still running 1Gb cards and coming off with decent performance so surely ill be able to keep up for a while with this card. wife graduates in august from radiology school and probably will get a new card soon after that

  • @13lackfriday
    @13lackfriday 13 лет назад

    @swiftflowingfreedom the mutliplayer for splinter cell was a co-op campaign totally self-contained and just as good, if not better, than the singleplayer bc of the coordination and additional team tactics required. If you want to experience the full storyline of the game, which I'm sure is longer than 10 hrs, get a friend and play through it and THEN come back and piss and moan about multiplayer dragging down storywriting and innovative gameplay.

  • @unleasheth
    @unleasheth 13 лет назад

    @ST34LTH1 that have 2 gpus on the same card, they have issues as well. pick some of the newer games out today and watch videos on youtube about people having trouble with their sli and crossfire setups on the newer games--its ridiculous. I'll more than likely always stick to just one Gpu, one vid card, the way it was originally meant to be...now, that said, I wouldnt mind having a dual CPU motherboard :) thats where you would see a better performance gain and it would be far more worth it :)

  • @unleasheth
    @unleasheth 13 лет назад

    @ST34LTH1 but honestly your graphics card wont be bad for a very long time, and when it does, i wouldnt bother with a second one. ive never been a big fan of dual vid cards cause statistically the performance jump isnt all that much, and the biggest issue is they always have probs with most games that require some kind of patch or work around. I dont know why but its like developers arent making games to support crossfire or sli like they should be. and i feel the same way about the X2 vid cards

  • @unleasheth
    @unleasheth 13 лет назад

    @ST34LTH1 broad variety of hardware and it just works better....take crysis 1 for example, it killed pc's across the board, didnt matter how good of one you had. but over the last few years, people are taking what i call the "COD approach" to gaming cause any and every call of duty i ever played either on PC or console always looked good no matter what hardware you had, they made the game to look good as is. :)

  • @unleasheth
    @unleasheth 13 лет назад

    @ST34LTH1 so yup i hear ya, im loving the heck out of games now too, i waited a while to do an upgrade but so glad i did, out of all the pc's i built in the past, now was the best time, and this time i am enjoying it the most cause i finally put together something i actually wanted and it works the right way just as i wanted it to finally....in the past games were rigged up too powerful and hardware could barely keep up. but these days games are more optimized right out of the box for a more

    @ST34LTH1 Too true. I know people who have no respect for story driven games. Story driven games are key to a great game in my opinion, it gives you something to go by memory on. I'll always remember Geralt of Rivia before I remember Captain Price in COD. This isn't to say all those classics from SNES and such aren't good because some of them don't have story driven content, like Street Fighter 2, but you get what i mean. People still wonder why I would buy Collectors for The Witcher 2.

  • @unleasheth
    @unleasheth 13 лет назад

    @ST34LTH1 even then, i still dont think i ever beat the game. it had the perfect combination of how you should have to level up each and every little attribute, and you could put on individual armor pieces HOW YOU CHOSE to do so, instead of having to go with pre made sets that must be worn as a whole, like on oblivion. dont get me wrong oblivion was good, but you hard core simulation rpg guys know what im talkin about, it had nothing on morrowind. and morrowind isnt the most hardcore either

  • @unleasheth
    @unleasheth 13 лет назад

    @ST34LTH1 as long as pc lives and as long as atleast a handful of good gaming companies stay up, then we dont have to worry. witcher 1 was awesome but i tell you now, elder scrolls 3 morrowind was the very best rpg ive ever played in my life. and even witcher and all that cant compare to it. only game im really really lookin forward to of course is skyrim. but morrowind was a masterpiece, if you played it fairly, without mods or cheats, it would take months to beat it if you did everything, and

    PC is a dying platform? What the fuck are they smoking? PC isn't as unique as it used to be but it still is the best platform. FPS games are better on it, you get better and more intuitive controls on it, you get better graphics on it, you get modding on it, and you get no damn auto aim bullshit like on consoles. Consoles are good and fun but there is no reason to stop developing for PC. So i'll play my 360, PS3, and PC. But PC is still my choice for most games that are cross platform.

    @AdoreYouInAshXI The quality and number of art assets is going up much faster than the size of development teams and the quality of their tools.
    In multiplayer you see the same content tens to hundreds of times; and that's OK because your friends and enemies are interesting, real people; it's much easier to make a satisfying multiplayer game. The remaining single-player games have to be shallow and have mass-market appeal to justify the hundreds of man-years it takes to make them.

  • @Cheta87BRE

    @chrispellis Maaaan that is not the point ,It would be like Blizzard make Diablo 3 that is like Baldur's gate ,that is exactly what they did here ,they took Dragon Age 1 throw out a lot of stuff made second part that is only Dragon Age cause the title says so,its totally different game ,Dragon Age 2 is not bad game it's bad that they changed the concept ,take dragon age 2 change the title and its a great game ,the similar thing happened to Fallout ....

    @fmoa I have a feeling they DO want a deal, with Microsoft especially. They have a job available, in which they describe what the applicant for the job has to have: Xbox 360 experience is a must, and at least one or two games released commercially, experience with the Xbox Development Kit (XBK) and a lot of stuff like that. And then: "(PS3 experience would be a plus!!"). Like, they are hoping for a deal with MS, but if they can't get it but still do it for consoles they will also do a PS3 -port.

  • @panamakira
    @panamakira 13 лет назад

    ughh~ I know all you hardcore Witcher fans want PC exclusive, why? I have no idea but I at least hope they release it for consoles. I really don't have a problem if a good game can be accessible to gamers in both mediums. If they can't handle these kinds of RPG, then too bad for them. I had no problem playing Dragon Age in PC and 360. I don't see why the Witcher can earn some more commercial success and still be a good game in any platform.

  • @BoyanDimitrov
    @BoyanDimitrov 13 лет назад

    @rccwilliams lol really? A dying genre on a dying platform? Yeah maybe not as popular as it should be because most simple-minded idiots prefer playing shooters cause it takes up less space on their limitted intelectual capacity but it's not and never will be a dying genre. Dragon Age: Origins was voted by many as game of 2009. It's people like you that limit gaming and turn it into this commercial joke.

  • @DScherer09
    @DScherer09 14 лет назад

    @Kyorisu Yea, you can build a rig capable of handling games for that price, but it won't be top of the line. To buy all top-end parts is expensive. Don't feed bullshit. Check newegg, tigerdirect, any parts suipplier. SSD's are useless, they build less heat and load faster. Graphics cards are self-explanatory, the better the card the better the game will look. Can you build a good gaming machine on a budget? Yes. Can you build a top end one for under a grand? No, you can't.

  • @Eternal-CMO
    @Eternal-CMO 14 лет назад

    Well for one, I play FPS games online for console primarily because I know more people that do so. Other than that, the controls seem more readily available than say playing with a keyboard for all the various commands (some times I even use my PS3 controller with an emulator on PC for certain games), and the Six-axis 3 is icing on the cake; nothing beats the visceral feel of it when games use it well.
    I haven't seriously played a shooter on PC since the original FEAR so not used to it anymore.

  • @Eternal-CMO
    @Eternal-CMO 14 лет назад

    I think what could be meant by that is there are very few developers left out there devoted solely to PC, but you could say the same about console.
    Personally, I play both: Mainly console for action-oriented games, 1st-person shooters, exclusives of course, etc.; and for PC I tend to play RTS and games like Diablo with the isometric view as well as more traditional RPGs, or even games not found on PS3 (though that platform is definitely gaining now).

  • @Eternal-CMO
    @Eternal-CMO 14 лет назад

    Eh, check out exclusive games to the PS3 like Uncharted 2, Killzone 2 (the exclusive looks even better), GoW 3, Heavy Rain and Castlevania: LoS (though that wasn't an exclusive). You'll get a general idea of the potential that console has yet to master. Remember, next-gen consoles are a very early inception; which is why it astonishes me how people can already be discussing future platforms when the current ones are not only sufficient, they have so much more potential.

  • @AdoreYouInAshXI
    @AdoreYouInAshXI 13 лет назад

    @bcta302 You obviously haven't ever played The Witcher or Dragon Age origins on PC if you think a controller is better than a mouse and keyboard setup for those games.
    It's dumb to blame the fact that there arent any more good RPGs because of PC gaming. 99% of games these days are designed around console anyway, unfortunatly.

    Game though, very consolized. Feels like Fable. For better or worse?, thats up to the player... I like it better than Witcher 1, but its no Ultima 7. Good game underneath the current plethora of bugs.

    @abram730 but even if i wait, which i probably will, i still feel like this rig wont let me down, if at a worst case scenario, ill turn down the graphics which doesnt bother me quiet as much now as it used to. if i can run optimal quality setting in the CCC for ATI panel then Im happy for the most part, but alot of times I will usually try and push past it if possible

    pleaseeeeeeee be as good as the Witcher 1. only thing i dont like so far (from what ive seen) is the signs..they look kinda weak..in the original the aard sign was seriously badass, this looks kinda powder puff, i know its low level but even so. i dont really like the fire effects much either..look kinda unrealistic compared to the witcher 1

    @beaker4251 Heh I should clarify that I think The Witcher 2 looks like a ton of fun and I'll be playing it. I think I like Fallout so much because I'm an FPS player at heart and Fallout just combined everything I love together.

  • @Hydrott
    @Hydrott 13 лет назад

    @SAW31197 Half those titles are perfect proof why RPGs are a ''dying genre''. RPGs never were supposed to be mindless buttonmashers where the focus is watching cutscenes, they always had much, much more going for them. Over the years rpgs had evolved into games that give you depth, exploration, customization, crafting, dialogue trees etc.

  • @TheJaffz

    imo i play an rpg for the combat and story on equal levels.. which is why i prefered DAO to The Witcher :) i kinda felt tht the combat was pretty jagged and slow in the first one and i know you cant really compare the combat systems between the two but hopefully this one can change my view on it all :) still DA2 is my prefered choice.

    Actually, I'd have to say that Dragon Age ripped off the Witcher first, what with slavery, racism and discrimination against elves and dwarves, mature themes and so forth.
    Heck, the Wardens' ritual is so eerily similar to the Witchers' that I'm tempted to say they took 80% of their inspiration for the series straight from the Witcher.

  • @00BMar00
    @00BMar00 14 лет назад

    @pivenoka The first games combat was far from perfect, if you got swarmed by enemies it was often your death because you were unable to swing your sword. The fact that you also had a fast/heavy timing system was far from ideal either as you often had no control over how soon or late you would hit enemies really screwing a fight up for you.

  • @AdoreYouInAshXI

    Many developers are trying their hardest to cash in on dumb down RPGS - Dragon Age II, for example - but gamers are smart we know the difference between a good RPG and a RPG want to be. I am still mad Dragon Age 11 recycled 6 maps through out the whole campaign...that's so cheap.

  • @Idunhavanamez
    @Idunhavanamez 13 лет назад

    @ST34LTH1 Well then that's the developers fault, not the console. The console is just a tool that allows them to create amazing games. There are still game that requires 40+ hours to beat completelly such as Mass Effect, The Elder Scrolls, Final Fantasy series, Fallout, etc.

  • @GODakaDolc3
    @GODakaDolc3 13 лет назад

    Hardcore RPG's are definitely the greatest game's, more than satisfied that this is only on PC. Most dev's have lower'd standards in game's (short and sweet). Witcher 2 stands out to the extreme. It's great they havn't gone for the standard simple RPG.....hardcore FTW!!!!!

  • @metaitachi
    @metaitachi 13 лет назад

    @ST34LTH1 True to some degree but its not the 360 or ps3, its just the developers and the audience. You cant blame consoles, they are just hardware and a means to develop. And its mainly only shooter games that are short, open world games (red dead, mass effect, fallout) all take days to complete.

  • @unleasheth
    @unleasheth 13 лет назад

    @ST34LTH1 anyhow back to the real issue, i gave up on console a while back, and as long as people continue to buy pc hardware, then there MUST be a market for the games that run on it. which is good news. and i dont see a slow down in the hardware world :) which is likewise good.

    If anyone wants to make a great single player, story driven, RPG please go talk to Bethesda and play through Fallout: new Vegas or Fallout 3. That, is how you do a single player RPG. I've played through new vegas 3 separate times, I can't say that about any other single player game of any genre.

  • @chrispellis
    @chrispellis 13 лет назад

    @Cheta87BRE Um you can only hack and slash your way through Dragon Age 2 on easy mode. Any idiot can beat any RPG on easy. Point being, there is nothing wrong with Dragon Age 2. Try using pure hack and slash game play on hard or nightmare difficulty setting and you won't make it past the Deep Roads.

  • @Hydrott
    @Hydrott 13 лет назад

    Nowadays the demand for ''complexity'' in games is getting smaller (which is a key element of rpgs) thats why the genre is dying.
    For example Mass Effect 2 is being praised as the best rpg game out there and yet it lacks all the fundemental elements which made rpgs what they are today.

  • @fawakaka

    @SAW31197 Well there are some nice good games left in this genre, but you know as anyone els here that it is infact a dying genre. Look at them FPS games or MMO games or even Fighting games there are so many of them games if you compare it to the RPG's now a day's.

    @mrcheesewithlettuce @mrcheesewithlettuce If you love RPGs and multiplayer why not look into MMOs ? World of Warcraft is complete garbage , but EVE Online is the biggest and most complex game ever made. It also has a fantastic lore.

    @AndyzUtube the first one is from 2007, so it should work on your PC, try it out even if you have to sacrifice quality, but dont forget to save up for Witcher 2 cuz that one is goin to be heavy, i have to upgrade too :) good luck

    @GODakaDolc3 I totally agree, nothing beats a good RPG like The Witcher series. Only game you could compare it to is Gothic 1 & 2, shame they as you put it 'lowered their standards' for 3 & 4.
    Can't wait for TW2!

    In a way I'm glad this is on console, I have the first game but could never play it on my PC 'cause my graphics card sucks so I doubt I would be able to play this on either, at least this will give me a chance to play it.

    @hodir what the hell are you talking about? did you read that in an article somewhere? fallout 1 and 2 are far to dated to be interesting nowadays, and fallout 3 was one of the greatest games of the last decade.

    @HardWarUK just because you prefer other elements of the rpg experience doesnt make bioware rpgs less rpg...wide open area to roam around in for hours is just a way to fill the time and a substitute for real content and story

    Even though my PC is absolute fucking garbage I'm still going to have to get the first game. Never payed attention to it but I've seen all these comments about how it's the best game ever and I have to get it.

    @ChoughMedia seriously 12 million on world of warcraft alone and 30 million active user accounts for steam....thats 4 more million then xbox 360 consoles sold then factor in all the non steam games...........

    Wait, so is it coming out for the consoles? I thought they repeatedly said that it MIGHT and there was no definite on that. Not that it really goes for me, since I PC game. I can't wait to try this out, if my comp can run it!

    @Recolation Yeah Just built my friend a pc using a few parts from his old pc (HDD, CD drive, Case) and it only was a little over $200 and it can play anything and is better then most computers that cost 3X that

    Alien-ware charges you 500$ for just making it themselves, build your own PC and you save so much money. Don't let companies like alien-ware fool you into buying a PC that's 1000$ when it's actually worth 400$.

  • @Astaticembrace

    @zackhanscom Oooor....someone simply hasn't cared enough to look into parts best suited for their PC....you know, perhaps....and all that stuff.
    Console gaming was kicking ass way before Modern Warfare came into the picture...

  • @GhostsGraphics
    @GhostsGraphics 13 лет назад

    @jasanimans because the graphics are extremely demanding to the point where consoles dont come close to handling it, i think that they may make a downgraded port but by that time ill beat the game :)

    This is probably the only game (that I know of) that makes me jealous of PC gamer. Would love to have this on console because it looks soo good. Console RPG's are good but never as good as the PC ones imo

    @TheTurtlePawner ...they said in this video that they're using a 360 controller and that no console version exists, they simply implemented controller support on the PC version if people prefer that.

    so.. this will be something like Witcher in Stalker-open-like environment?
    ...
    ok.
    I'll buy this one. I loved 1-st witcher. RPG pricks suck - buuhuu, I don't like fights, buuu.. shut up.

    The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings and Assassin's Creed Brotherhood is going to be epic! Hopefully though the next Dragon Age Origins game need to look like this or better. Thumbs up if you agree!

    I've played Assassin's Creed on PC and platforming is not as good as it is on a controller!
    The fact is the keyboard takes away the awesomeness that mouse has!

    @TheForbiddenStep Why? You are jeoulus becouse we gonna get that game too? Its a shame for all the pc gamers, that you talk shit on other platforms. Get over it man, PC gaming is dead.

    The sequence with the orange protective spell reminds me alot of Mass Effect 2... where one of your Biotic characters had to hold up a barrier and was gradually getting weaker

    Though I can see why some people prefer mouse because it is a bit more pin-point accurate, but I really don't have any issues with that one console so it's a matter of preference really.

    @KaxiLaxi Why not? It's a good number for a PC game.
    And it shows that they know how to make a success out of a single player RPG in a time when MMORPG's are so proliferate.

    @Recolation You cannot get a top of the line PC for 600. High end CPU's alone are more than that. A top end PC, home built, will still run you a couple thousand dollars.
