Boil the leaves in 5% Naoh solution (950g water+50gNaoh) about 20mins. When the leaves become soft, rinse off the chemicals with running water and brush out the mesophyll. Soak the skeletion in Sodium percarbonate solution for hours, then flush out the mesophyll residues. Finally, dye with water base paint. Hope it's helpful to you!

I use sodium hydroxide to etch the leaf and sodium percarbonate to bleach the skelton.
