Such a direct and simple video, looking forward to your Japan/Tokyo vlog. I'm also solo traveling to Japan as a first time visitor and my first international flight and it's been a dream to visit Japan and cant believe I'm just 2 weeks to accomplish this dream. Not gonna lie I'm both excited and nervous but honestly I'm looking forward to discover myself and as you said what I'm capable to do by myself. I also agree in the safety part of informing people of your itinerary and travel plan we never know what can happen and it's better to have someone know where we are.
excited for you to experience Japan for yourself! - this might be a repost since my comment disappeared, sorry - I couldn't recommend Japan enough especially for solo travel. wishing you a fantastic trip - have fun & stay safe 🙏
@LaraA55 Yes !! You can walk alone in Japan at night 🌙 ✨️ I'm Japanese who's been living in L.A. for 36 years + now !! I'm originally from Tokyo . But,I love Kyoto the best ! It's one of the safest country if not the safest ,I do believe we are tge safest !!! 👍👍💜🥁🐉🎤🎶💕💞
@@spark_6710 🤗🌷 I loved Kyoto so much. The Golden Temple mesmerised me. I also got to meet 2 real life Geisha's in 2006. I was with my penpal of 22 years, stayed with her family in Osaka. It was such a memorable time for me.
As a Canadian living in Japan...you're safer here than in Canada, and Japanese go way beyond to help but only if you ask for help. Second, about the Suica, since you're a) a tourist b) staying mainly in Tokyo, consider the Tokyo and Toei metro (subway) 72 hour pass for tourist at around 1500 yen. It's a better value then pay per ride if you ride the subway more than 3 times a day. You can buy this at any major stations' subway office but you will need your passport (and you should also always have it with you as a japanese legal requirement + don't want to miss out on tax free shopping). For JR, in the Tokyo city center, the machines where you buy the tickets have a Tokunai pass which is a day pass for JR lines for 750 yen per day.
Oh wow so excited for you! Loving the tips you have given. Love the idea of the additional bag saving purchasing another luggage. Can’t wait for the next vlogs ❤
Wow I’ve been searching for videos on solo trips to Japan and how ppl would pack light (avoiding check in baggage - which is not easy especially with Japan). Your video came out at the right time, thanks for sharing!
Great travel tips! Saving this for when I get the chance to check Japan off my bucket list. Thought I was going to be living there for a while a few years back when I was living in the Philippines, but plans changed and we just ended up coming back to the states. Can't wait to watch your vlogs from your trip! Sending you an abundance of positive vibes and blessed experiences during your travels. Stay safe. 🙌🏾👀🍿🥝
that's understandable - I nearly wanted to live there while I visited 😂 I can't recommend Japan enough, hopefully you can visit some day! sending you all the positive vibes back 🫶🫶 thanks for watching!
I enjoyed these tips, Celine! Your videos always inspire people to get out of their comfort zone. BTW, I like that mug beside you, too. I will have to try and get the exact same one for me. 😀
If you ever have more time, get an JR pass and train it to Kyoto and Hiroshima-visiting the latter (beautiful city BTW) having been one of the most solemn experiences of my life. Safe travels 💜
I love this ! I travelled to England on my own when I was 27, best experience of my life ! My tip would be that if you are planning to use your bank debit card, let your bank know in advance as some banks could see international transactions as “dodgy” and may put a hold on your card. Have fun in Japan lovely !❤
I swear, we must be the same person in different fonts because I'm also going on a solo trip to Japan next year and this couldn't come at a better time!!
I'm not even going to act like I can relate 😂. You are so fearless, adventurous and I'm constantly in awe of you .Pardon me, but I have to run. I have a Tokyo travel vlog to watch right now. See you there! P.o.p.
That's super nice !! Enjoy Kyoto !! My most favourite city in Japan !! Although, I am from Tokyo originally. I've been living in the States most of my life & a real Ling time in L.A.! 👍👍💜🥁🐉🎤🎶🇯🇵💕💞

I'll mention some info in the next vlogs but basically, my flight was the only direct option available from Calgary, so that made it simple. my hotel was based on price/availability in Shibuya or Shinjuku - that's where I preferred so I could closer to the main attractions I wanted to see
I can’t wait to see your vlog of your trip. I’m a African-Japanese Born American and haven’t visited Japan. My father is from Osaka. It’s a long story, but I might vlog my solo trip. I can’t seem to get anyone to go with me.😂
I highly recommend high fashion clothes to visit Japan if you can !! We,Japanese wear nice outfits to do grocery shopping even ! Lol. It doesn't have to be high end or expensive brands ,but very fashionable outfits to blend in. Suits or nice pants or one piece to visit hotels & clasdy restaurants. If you wanna do a budget friendly trip to Japan ,now is the time !! Lol. I recommend to eat at Japanese traditional pubs " Izakaya" everywhere & restaurants/ cafes underground ,usually connected to train stations or inside of department stores. Or any restaurants in department stores. Soba noodle restaurants are usually very affordable in a casual atmosphere. Or, family restaurants. Stay at self catering accommodations or outskirt area of Tokyo. Business hotels are very, very clean/ affordable & come w lots of amenities in Japan including fridges & slippers & toiletries !! Usually under $50/night ! Capsule hotels are very clean ,too ! Everything/ everywhere is million times cleaner tgan U.S./ U.K.&most of European countries. Lol.💜🥁🐉🎤🎶🇯🇵💕💞
I saw a vlog where a solo traveling woman bought and wore a fake wedding band so if sketchy people asked if she was alone, she would lie and said her husband is getting his hair cut down the street and people backed off lol
@Celinelikedion Hello Celine, oh wow, you visited my second fav country in the world apart from Canada🤗. I have traveled on my own to Canada, USA, Japan and South Korea. I stayed in Osaka, 2006 with my penpal of 22 years. We also traveled to Kyoto, where I met real life Geishas. I did feel very safe in Japan👍. Your tips are on point, especially about the apps and group tours as I still keep in touch with some people from the tours. I haven't been to Tokyo but I would love to visit the Ghibli musem. I have heard that food and shopping are now so cheap in Japan. Can't wait to see your vlogs.😁
hey Lara! glad you enjoyed the video 🫶 I must agree, Japan is one of my favourites too! I wish I could've visited Kyoto and Osaka too, it's on my list for next time. South Korea is also on my list, I've heard many great things! and yes, the currency exchange rate works in our favour at the moment, so the costs were very reasonable. looking forward to sharing more, thanks for stopping by 💗🥹
from my experience, I've taken several flights and only had my luggage weighed once. it was slightly overweight but the staff said it was fine. I think it will ultimately depend on the person you're dealing with at the gate, so I would be prepared to take something out if necessary, but it hasn't been an issue thus far!
I'm going to Vancouver for 3 weeks and not even bringing any clothes (as i had a storage locker there) and im trying to pack only a small suitcase this time but I'm not even sure it will all fit lol. Most stuff is my cat's stuff who's coming too (portable litter box, litter (for one night at the airport hotel in Montréal), food, bigger backpack carrier for the train, leash, etc... including his toothbrush cuz he gets gingivitis and i have to brush his teeth everyday) 😅
let me know if you have any tips for travelling alone! 💞 can’t wait to share more from the trip 🤭
