I am still quite new to the piano and know very little about synchopated rhythms. This video has made things a lot clearer to me and the tuition is delivered in a friendly, non-preachy manner.
My friend, I would very much like you to do your breakdown of the circle of 5ths, and the way you use it for practice and perhaps improvisation. You are a fine communicator, and your take on a few subjects have bested others. Good vibes too.
2:28 Dm7 - G7 voicings 4:00 Easy mode playthrough with Dm7 - G7 progression 4:31 Add some very tasty Jamiroquai-style bass funk to the same progression 6:52 Leveled-up playthrough with funky bass
Thank you, Great video. I would like to hear more on jamming. Tips on following the chord sequence, especially when it is more complex? How to recover if one loses track of the sequence? More in general about the chemistry between instruments. Maybe some explicit and implicit rules. Also how to mix in different lead playing.
Great video. I would love to see a breakdown of that funky blues falling lick that you played when you were demonstrating the clav sound. Is there a video for that?
Great video here, I love the practical approach. Could you explain why you picked the D blues scale, when the chords where the ii and V of C major? Thank you 😊
Great question, a few people have asked similar via email. I think of the blues scale like a 'one size fits all'. I could have used the D blues scale, G blues scale or the C blues scale (or to be honest any other blues scale.... but that's a video for another time!). It's a really melodic, bluesy sound that can fit in so many contexts - there isn't necessarily a 'correct choice'. For me, the D blues scale felt good here - I hope that helps!
Another great one Adam - it would be great if you could link this in to how to play “ I Wish” by Mr Wonder ( same groove) but E Flat min 7 to A flat 7 (?). Would love to play but just struggled with how too !
Dm7, you have re-arrange to ACDF in the right. To reduce movement, I can see the G7, you have the A note stay in the right hand. Seems that you are adding the add2 or add9 in the G7 chord as well? Since the G7 itself doesn't include A note. G note is omitted and passed to the left hand ? 😮 Wow! I seldom think of add2 in a 7 th chord. That's interesting! Make it so full. 😃 You have given me inspiration again. Thanks so much!!

Great ideas, thanks so much Tim!
Groove 2 reminded me "I wish" by Stevie Wonder. i started internally singing to it. I had to check it out just after. 🙂Thanks for the video !
And in Groove 3, the RH was reminiscent of "Superstition" by you know who!

There isn't currently - but great idea!
The GOAT!! Cheers Coach :)
Some great ideas. Also with keeping the basslines simple you stay out of the bass players way 👍
Great video here, I love the practical approach.

Yes that's exactly it - you could think of it as G9 (that would technically be the correct chord symbol, but add2 also works!)
Ellllooooo guvnah two winks as good as a nudge to a blind bat ey?
PS 2:29 is jamiroquai, no complaints
Want to hear something awesome jamming, check out some live Grateful Dead from the late 70s.
Great lessons but your PDFs are not delivered by email.
Should be working - sorry if you’re having issues. Send an email to support@thekeyscoach.com and we’ll sort it out.
You young whipper snappers complaining about mail not being fast. Back in my day we had to wait a whole month for the pony express to ride into town.
@@raykane2063 Turning 70 this year, but I don't remember the pony express. You must be really old. LOL
@@thekeyscoach I tried another email address and that one worked. Maybe there you have a problem with yahoo.mail.
Glad you got it Andrew - let me know if you have any issues going forward.
Woodchopping = Supertramp!!😂
