    A Filipino is someone who is well, someone who's parents are Filipino or one parent is filipino. But most importantly, a Filipino is someone who is proud of his/her Filipino background and culture. Mabuhay ang Pilipinas! 🇵🇭

    These videos have been great so far!
    One thing that would be good to consider is how diverse and multicultural Filipinos are, with the Philippines having more than 100 ethnolinguistic groups. Often, what I see being portrayed as Filipino culture is Tagalog, despite the fact that the majority of Filipinos are not Tagalog.
    I think that having this acknowledgement will make other groups feel included and represented as well.

      Thank you! I was born in the US and raised in a Cebuano-speaking household ...both of my parents speak it but never taught it to me or my siblings. Fil-Am culture feels very Tagalog-centric which I can't really relate to so it's almost as if we non-Tagalogs are a "minority within a minority".

      they arlready did report on why some filipino KIDS dont know tagalog, in philippine news like GMA and ABSCBN, some schools dont teach it as well and focus on teahcing english more, plus the internet and media being more accessible with younger gen and their gadgets, influence by western media movies music etc, thinking its more 'cool' to speak english and tagalog not necessary, plans to live and work abroad, etc.
      "multicultural" = brazil, usa, england, etc. not philippines as of right now.

      yeah my mom didn't really learn to speak Tagalog until moving to Manila. Ilocanos use to only speak basic Carabao Tagalog.

      @jennyhateseverything Месяц назад

      But they can speak and understand at least one regional Filipino language lmao, at least make an effort to learn it instead of begging to be accepted. Doesn’t need to be Tagalog, you can be a Bisaya, Ilocano, Hiligaynon. Filipino Americans need to stop making excuses. If you want to represent the Philippines learn Filipino, those white guys can do it why can’t you.

    I understand that if one is born in the Philippines, they are Filipino regardless immigration status. I was born there and adopted, and though I'm a US citizen, I am considered "foreign" by the US government.Whereas the ones half, full or otherwise, are whatever they are where they were born. The "Holy Trinity" of being Filipino, as I understand it is: 1) Born IN the Philippines, 2) a Catholic connection, 3) some Tagalog/other Filipino language proficiency.

    Hey hi. Do you know Arthur Villanueva? He wrote a pretty cool comment on RUclips two days ago. He said that he's born in the Philippines, but he's watching youtube from California USA. He says he has an abundance of reasons why he must go back and live his remaining years in the Philippines. Pretty cool, huh?
    How can you be more legit than that? This is why I love Filipinos are so much so much. Filipinos are so REAL and never have anything to prove to anyone, right? they are truly independent and don't just rely on the USA to move forward. They only talk like the truth has to be said. They're certainly not liar, and hypocrite. Hell no!
