I loved How last episode Laura gave Carl the episode for him and now it’s her turn more, because only in that way can we truly understand what happened, how and how it can possibly be prevented from happening to others

I have really enjoyed watching these last two episodes. My feelings are all over the place, I am excited for them but i also hurt for them as they have dealt not only with their own struggles but also the lack of relationship from others who should have been there for them, or at least said something to them.... As a youth pastor for the last 20 years this has caused me to ask the question, "Am i responding to other peoples hurts and issues with God in mind or am i not responding because I am being selfish"? People don't need any other reasons to hate the church and church leaders, there is already too much to find in that. I need to model what it looks like to love others well, operate in grace for them and be an advocate of the grace of God. I cant avoid operating in grace because its hard or it might have a different impact on me! Thats not the Gospel!

Honestly, I watched his interview that came out a while back and I didn’t feel he was taking full responsibility.
In this interview, I was hoping to see more of that which I did see some but in my opinion, there was still too much focus on Hillsong and the people they felt mishandled them during the situation. Full accountability is just taking full accountability and moving on. I wish there was more focus on what they are doing now moving forward to heal, and to glorify God. Time will tell and I do pray you stay on the narrow path. I understand it is a difficult one. In the end, I am rooting for all my Christian brothers and sisters.

I just wanted to thank you for this. Thank you for being so real. I went through this over 20 years ago as part of the worship team and it was with the worship leader. I was hauled into the ‘elders’ office (three men) and did bring my husband along with me after informing him of what transpired. No one spoke about this back then and no one from church reached out to me. I was abandoned. After trying to recover over ten years after the event, we separated and divorced. During the ten year period my life had transformed miraculously. However my husband was still haunted and wounded. The church remained silent during our pain. I left the church and God (so I thought). Fast forward 15 years later, I am walking with the Lord. I’m at church, but focused on God and not people. My husband and I remarried. Happy, humbled, and healed. God be with you both and your family.

You will look back in awe at how much beauty, transformation and healing that God will continue to bring in your life and the lives of others through your honesty. @EASH1 Accusation and condemnation are not the responsibilities of Christians because that is Satan's ministry. We should not seek to condemn those who have repented and turned away from their sins. Instead, we should follow the example of Jesus Christ and show compassion and understanding. As Christians, we should focus on helping others to grow in their faith and to overcome their challenges, rather than dwelling on their past mistakes.

In my opinion, the transparency of this discussion encourages self-aware individuals who are committed to personal growth to recognize that accountability and honesty are essential, not optional, qualities. To genuinely love God, one's spouse, and one's family requires a level of honesty that, over time, eliminates feelings of vulnerability.

And yet, they never talked about the mercy and grace of the Lord. He briefly mentioned falling into grace in the first episode in response to a headline. Other than that, there is no mention of God's work in them, mercy, redemption by grace, nothing. They fully attribute their healing and progress to therapy and their own work, which they are entitled to do. However, it is interesting from the Christian point of view, that person who spent years preaching the gospel, doesn't say I sinned and I turned to the Lord. Not saying that they took the wrong path. I believe that God uses therapy and all that to restore us. But do we give the glory to God or to the therapy/ourselves? Just a thought

I “stumbled” onto this (yeah right…) just before my first appointment with a new therapist. I believe in my soul that God used this to bring multiple puzzle pieces together for sexual trauma in childhood that I’ve avoided addressing. I’ve told myself all the other work I’ve done, centered around Codependency, forgiveness, self-awareness, emotional regulation, was enough to sort of cover anything from that childhood season.
    I was so wrong.
I was scared, ashamed, and was listening to lies I’d been telling myself since grade school.
Thank you both for this gift of openness and bravery.
Carl… you’re among greats still. King David, Moses, The Apostle Paul.. they didn’t sin in one off fashion either. God restored and did what He’s always been faithful to do because they handled their hearts through true repentance. My husband and I cherish your raw honesty, and healing looks damn good on you both.
Laura, badassery has a new face for its billboard… You’re so inspiring and down to earth. So so relatable, and I want to thank you for going against the flow and protecting your family while fighting for yourself. Your story helped me this morning.
Trauma changes the brain…So does healing🌿

This is just WOW!!😢. I see the humble new change in your relationship and Pastor Carl n Laura. This is unbelievable. Healing starts within. It is so refreshing to see you being so raw and authentic because we all as Christians will fail. No matter the title and this is such a blessing to watch and learn from your examples of restoration, true healing and honesty! Wow so honest it hurts. But this reminds me that even I who has struggled with addiction being in ministry and feeling like I’m the only one dealing with the constant cycles of recovery and no one ever understanding me or no one knows my secret. Yet this is so refreshing to know we are not alone. This can happen to anyone. Sometimes you gotta hit rock bottom to get to the top. Wow this is beautiful makes me cry. Im so happy to see your marriage restored and Laura your a great example of a woman of noble character Prob 31 all day! Continue to pray, fight for your love n marriage n family. This is unbelievably hard to talk bout these topics but oh so healing and Necessary. No secrets! I love this! This is going to bless millions of people. Don’t ever give up! God loves you guys so much. Love you guys. Glad your out of NYC. You guys are Awesome! Praying for y’all! Xoxo love u my family in Christ! Thanks for sharing and being sooo vulnerable. I needed this. This touches me personally. Love you dearly! Thankyou 🎉 I’m celebrating with y’all! From NJ I’m sending u all love!

Everything needs to be brought to the light and exposed if the church is ever going to heal from all the decades of abuse. I commend you both for being so real and raw. Rooting for y’all! You don’t have to be a pastor or be in ministry to have a good impact on peoples lives. ❤ Y’all are doing it the right way, and it’s honestly so refreshing to see and gives me hope! 🫶🏼

Thank you carl and Laura.. I have been a part of church for a large portion of my life and had no idea that this is something i really needed to hear. Talking about ministry break down, your perspective on church culture inside and outside of it is healing to my heart.
I dont ever listen to the RUclips people who talk negatively about this church or that preacher etc. It always feels like they have a self appointed mission and motive.
But you guys speak so soundly on some of the pitfalls that exist, and you do it from a place of love and understanding. I really appreciate that aspect.
I feel like i have had years of therapy handed to me on a platter. Its a blessing to me and will be a blessing to so many.
Keep doing what you're doing and im ao grateful that God is using you guys in such a profound way to bind up the wounds of some of his people / sheep.

The world thinks people in the church and people who follow Jesus are perfect. And it’s just not true. And so when they do come to our churches and get hurt by people, not God; they leave the church and their relationship with God all together.

Carl Lentz, you will absolutely preach the Word of God again and God’s people will hear, listen, and heal from those messages! Go back the Apostle Paul on his way on the road to Damascus and was knocked off of his horse and was blinded by the light to meet Jesus. He was absolutely transformed and brought the message of Jesus to many. In my infidelity earlier in my marriage, I was knocked off my high horse and blinded by the light to meet Jesus. I stand hear today 18 years later sober and enjoying my “2nd marriage” with the woman I married from my 1st marriage. The messages I preach today comes from a passionate place from a God of second and a thousand chances. I have many miles to go and have challenges to still face. You were built to last my brother and God is going to use you mightily and even better than before. You got this because God got you! 🙏🏽✝️❤️

So many will be encouraged to be brave, too, because of your courage. What can be said about this, but that you allowed God to be strong in your weakness. It's a beautiful thing!!

Ladies and gentlemen, I urge you to place your trust in the power of prayer. God has assured us that if we ask through prayer, He will answer. My own journey is a testament to this truth-transforming from financial struggle to earning $$$ every two weeks. If you're questioning whether God answers prayers, let my experience be a reminder that He does. Dedicate time to prayer, establish that sacred space, and be prepared for the change that is coming. Amen.

Inner healing is NOT easy but it’s the greatest journey one can take with themselves. I loved what you said about the “comeback”… there is no comeback because the old me is gone. What a profound statement. Everybody’s always trying to have a comeback when what we really need is a come up. Thank you both for sharing your wisdom. I’ve been rooting for you since day one.
