What a beautiful car. Imagine driving it on the German Autobahn at 2 a.m. Empty highway, music from the cassette player, 160 km/h, hour after hour. It would be a dream. That's what a beautiful GT car can do.
Wow .. All our Yesterday’s …! I remember lusting after the Royale Coupe in the Halifax, Vauxhall showroom in 1975! I passed my driving test in a Vauxhall Viva and my father had the same car! Friend’s of my parents emigrated to South Africa and left 2.3 vauxhall victor for my father to sell. After a couple of weeks a car dealer turned up an offered £280.00 for a car that was worth £700.00 retail! I was offered the car for £280.00 and I snatched his hand off!! A Vauxhall victor was not the right image for a 19 year old, hence my visit to the vauxhall dealer who persuaded me to buy a silver Firenza, which was better than a Capri and not as common! Chapeau ANTHONY
Nice looking car! We never got these (or a Holden version in Australia) though Peter Brock's "Holden Dealer Team Special Vehicles" did consider importing some and built a prototype with a V8 Holden engine ("HDT Monza"). In the end, there was no coupe for the VB Commodore.
I did previously, write a lengthy comment about the big Vauxhall's/ opal's I owned in the late 80's to mid 90's) but just to reiterate my ultimate favourite was the opal Monza 3:0 E : Auto . With it's light green metallic paintwork and plush green velour seats. It was so comfy"and went like a absolute rocket!! The fuel gauge seemed to work in unison with the Speedo" especially when you put your foot down" LOL. ) Thanks for the brilliant broucher review..
Really nice video. The royale coupe does look nice but yes would have to be thr Monza because of the 3.0 engine. The car I would have chosen would be the cavalier 2.0 GL as for me it has everything you need and is also pretty quick and a 4 door saloon.
I wonder just how many of the large Vauxhall or Opel Coupes are still around today? Most of them I expect, would have rusted away. But, while just about everything gets a second life from some die hard fan, I have yet to spot one of these at a classic car show.
Monza was way cooler - can't say 'why' but they just were!! Bought one when they were cheap in the 90's - even as an old 'banger' it was superb - so wish I'd kept it.

Yes a wonderful car
Always loved the Monza/Royale, great looks, luxurious, a perfect GT

I think the facelift really suited the coupe.
My dad had a light metallic blue Royale. Think he had a 3.0S Capri before and an XR3i after.

Absolutely and your very welcome

I would certainly have been happy with a 2.0GL Cav

Must be quite rare today to find a good one

Wonderful
Would choose the Monza 3.0 E , manual . Could you even have the Royal , with 3.0e and manual , or only 2.8 auto ?
I believe you could get the 3.0 injection later on
