    Awesome video! I currently have about 20 dragon fruit cutting that I’m rooting. I usually expose about 1 inch of the cambium, let it dry, and put it in water with a little bit of liquid rooting hormone (just for the first week). The container is also on a 24/7 heating pad. The dried cambium also serves as a crutch for the cutting, so the roots aren’t touching the bottom of the container and getting crushed.
    I love making new dragon fruit cuttings! 😊

    Hey Richard your videos are so thorough! I currently have 12 cuttings that are producing this year despite being only a year old! I'm so excited to see how the fruits turn out. I will have white, red, purple and hybrid fruit of unknown/generic variety. I think I will even cross pollinate to see what the result is! Unfortunately I tried to graft the palora dozens of times to no avail... That's my next project. Without your inspiration I wouldn't be where I'm at so thank you!!!

    Love your videos.
    I have a couple a few questions.
    1. I just received my first plant. It has 3 shoots, about 5 inches each, all from the same root. Should I leave all 3 on the one root ball or only leave 1 and propagate the other 2?
    2. How big/long does a shoot/branch need to be before you can use it to propagate?
    3. Can you do multiple cuttings from one "branch/section" leaving the top to dry out. You would end up with a peice which would callous on both ends. Once calloused you could plant one end.
    4. How long does a cutting need to be proportional to the size of the cutting?
    Thanks in advance for your time and answers.

    This channel has been so interesting to watch. I just found it. I’ve been wanting to grow a dragon fruit plant indoors for a while, but haven’t really had the time to try it out. I live in an area where the store bought dragon fruit is terrible for every reason mentioned in your videos. ALOHA Richard, here in Maui dragon fruit plants grow like weeds everywhere, huge mounds and up to the top of trees like in my neighbor's yard wish I could send a picture, but they don't produce fruit very often, they must be self-sterile, so I have ordered a sugar dragon to help with that. The question has been asked below but not really answered and that is in your video E3 (1:50) you state that stem cut shoots need to be dried for a few days before planting but in this video (:48) and again (4:35) you state that it is best to just plant immediately after cutting? Please help us out! we all love your videos and if you are ever in Maui let me help you out with everything! Mahalo.

Every time u water, you are feeding the manure downward into the pot". She grows and sells lots of dragon fruit so that's what I'm doing. I think she said it will fruit in one year but the plants are cuttings from 3 yo plants. She also highly recommended once a month neem oil sprayed on the plants to prevent fungus but we live in a very humid area.

    Didn't realize that stem cuts can/should be planted immediately. Thank you for that. Other than possible ease of planting, any other benefit of a taperred cut versus flesh cut? Any potential detriment?

    • @GraftingDragonFruit
      @GraftingDragonFruit  2 года назад +1

      The taper cut that exposes the cambium helps stubborn cuttings that have hard time to root. The flesh cut is to help multiple a single branch as many time as much as the plant material supplies. My favorite is stem cut but it’s situational so use them as you need!
