Had you ever heard of Go Global before?
Do you think you'll consider it?
I haven’t heard of it. Thanks so much for sharing. I love seeing new curriculum. I especially love literature based learning. ❤
Sounds really great!! Thanks for sharing. I really like curriculum that doesn’t add Biblical beliefs but just sticks to basic Bible. That’s what we love soooo much about The Good and the Beautiful. I love that it teaches morals and basic Bible about God, but no beliefs so each family can teach what they personally believe. ❤❤
Did you decide to give this one a try?
Wow! That’s amazing! Thank you so much for sharing. I think I’ve found my kindergarten curriculum.
It's so fun to see people sharing my excitement for this curriculum!
This actually sounds great!!!
I'd love to know if you end up using it or what you choose.
This is exactly what we had been searching for, thank you for sharing!!
So glad I was able to share! I'd love to hear updates as you use it. I'll keep posting as we use it too. If you have Instagram make sure to say hi.
This is exactly what I’ve been looking for! We are starting our homeschool journey this coming fall and I knew I wanted to do geography but hadn’t found one I loved yet. This is amazing! My soon to be 5-yr old wanted to learn about ocean animals and earth science this year too and I feel like we’d easily be able to combine those as well!
Oceans is week two! And for sure, you can find or add any of his interests. I wish I would have known about this when I was starting out, but I'm glad I at least get to use it now before all my kids are too old.
Thank you for sharing this awesome resource! We do Classical Conversations, and I think this will be perfect for us!
The flexibility of this will make it great to use with many styles! I'm so glad you find it exciting too.
Thank you! We will be using this curriculum this year this is exactly what we need.
Yay! I'm so excited for you. Keep in touch and let me know how it's going!
This looks amazing! I just ordered it! Thank you for sharing. I'm hoping to teach it at our co-op in the fall.
I'd be interested to know how it goes for the co-op. Glad you thought it looked as great and I did!
I do really like this curriculum.
I can't wait to see what you end up with this year.
This looks awesome! Thanks so much for sharing! How deeply does it dive into each country chosen from the continent (like one book? a study of that country? etc.)? I'm looking to do something like this for my son's kindergarten year, but I'd love to focus on countries as well as continents. :)
Yes, it goes a bit into countries, some more than others, kind of depends on how much is available for that country too. When we did Africa I did additional searching for more countries and lots don't have books for kids available. I think it's a very appropriate level for Kindergarten. For upper ages I love the Gather Round connecting continents! But I think those go too deep for kinder level.
You might also love Layers of Learning. It’s a ton of activities for history, geography, art, and science that you pick and choose (with book lists for all subjects). All the subjects sort of dovetail together. Or you can do them individually So if you were learning about caves that would be your science portion, for art you might do cave paintings, for geography you might learn where different caves are, for history you might learn about cave men. You choose what you learn and it’s a four year cycle if you want to do it that way. Or you can just pick and choose random things with it with other curriculum or just on its own. I truly believe everyone should own it in homeschool just for the ideas even if you don’t use the 4 year cycle. It’s like Pinterest laid all out for you on paper in order of history. It’s amazing! They also have writer’s workshop that is awesome too! And they have a really great podcast to listen to even if you aren’t using their curriculum.
Oooo I'm excited to look into this
@@bearhilladventures I think you’ll like it based on your picks from your channel.
There is a channel called Today’s Joy that has a ton about it. Also Layers of learning has a YT channel as well.
Do you have a link to the primary booklist that you mentioned is online? I was on the website but couldn’t find it. How much prep time was required? Were the supplies needed things that you could find around the house?
Yes, supplies are things you most likely have or can easily get. Prep time is minimal. You have to look ahead to reserve books from your library. Other than that you might want to do a quick look at the beginning of the week to see what's cooking up, but it's really open and go.
I think the book list is available through a link provided once you own the curriculum.
New subscriber here! Would you do a video review of Go Global now that it has been a year? I haven’t seen anyone actually do a review after using the whole program. Thanks!
Because my family has done a lot of studies around the world we ended up skipping sections we had recently studied. I can tell you we really enjoyed what we did do, especially for my 5/6 year old. I really liked the book list, a great variety of animals, land, life style, silly and educational. We did some creative crafts, and made some fun recipes. My kids still play with the world mat and some animal toys I bought at hobby lobby.
I have a friend with younger children, ages 4 and 6, who used it this year and has followed the laid it plan, and she is still raving about it. I hope that helped some.
It's a curriculum I would do again if I homeschool another child.
Do you think you could stretch this curriculum from k-6th grade?
Using it as a spine for your family subject/ time together can span quite a bit but no it won't offer enough to really consider it a curriculum for anything beyond 4th grade. 3rd and 4th took quite a bit of additional creativity to even make those work.
Have you checked out Gather Round? They have great unit studies for each continent that are appropriate for k-12!
Do you know if they ever do sales or have coupon codes?
No, I didn't think so. This is a small company, as in mother and daughter. The nice thing is you can be sure your money is going directly to support another homeschool family.
This curriculum looks so awesome! I have 4 boys k-6th grade
In your opion do you think pairing just the game from GO GLobal and connecting continents from Gather Round would work 🤔 I have only used the inventions and ideas unit so far and debating on sticking with Gather Round or Moving on to something more in depth. I appreciate your thoughts!
Oh my goodness. I missed this comment before. I'm so so sorry. I really like the connecting continents units, but did find some of the lessons to be overwhelming for my young children. I think if you are the kind of mom that likes to make things your own and can choose well what to do and what to pass on they could go together, but if your the mom that wants to do it all it would be to overwhelming. But I'm curious, what did you end up doing?
Do the lessons have to be done in any order?
You can switch up the order of the continents but you would probably want to keep that grouping together.
