Seriously I would house some horseshoe crabs and farm them for blue blood, a cup of this stuff could pay my rent. One thing that makes this harvesting offspring unpractical is the time it takes for the eggs to mature into an adult to mate again, it takes a whooping 10 years, thats like 1/8 the life span of a human. However not sure how long it takes for the eggs to mature for which blood could be extracted, I have heard it takes 2 years until blood could be used.
Those horseshoe crabs are bled until they die, or near-death. This is not ok. A synthetic alternative was already invented and has since been approved as an equivalent to the blood horseshoe crabs. We don't need to bleed them anymore.

@@stefanroeder87 The crab blood is being harvested by pharmaceutical companies . From what I have read the blood cells are very good at detecting pathogens in vaccines i.e. the COVID-19 vaccines. Expire means they die. The ones that are released are the ones used for the eggs and sperm. Bringing the blood donors back to health not feasible as they can raise more crabs cheaply,

If it's not because these horseshoe crabs need around 10 years of age to reach adulthood we probably see something like a shrimp farm long ago. Well unless you start your business now and breed it every month or so for 10 years am sure you're gonna be a rich man from doing horseshoe crab farm.

While I’m against harvesting blood from horseshoe crabs, watching the little larvae swim was cute.
