  • Vulcan 900 with Cobra Speedster Slashdowns-before and after. Begins with stock exhaust, switches to Cobras at 1:40. Comparison at 3:55.
    Update: I sold this motorcycle in 2014. I will still try to answer questions about it or about the exhaust, so feel free to ask.

    Wish more people would put this sort of effort. Notice, no need for a lot of blah blah and blah blah. The sound says it all

    Thanks. I'm happy with the result. I hope the video helps somebody else decide if Cobras are right for them or not.

    I've gone back and forth about which pipes to get for my 2011 Vulcan , but I think you've sold me on these. Nice bike and nice video

    Awesome quality video. You just helped me make up my mind on whether or not to get these pipes. Bike looks and souds like a beauty. Thanks

    Thanks. I changed just the exhaust at first and added Cobra quiet core baffles a month or two later. I still haven't changed the intake or added a fuel processor. The bike runs a little rich right now based on changing the plugs a few weeks ago but I haven't had any problems.

    just looked at some vulcans and boulevards today...that cobra exhaust u have on the back pop sounds like a mustang cobra or a cammed Ls1... nice video...best sound in the video though is the baby saying by daddy....nothing like home....

  • @q2candoeasy
    @q2candoeasy  12 лет назад +6

    To squeeze out more power, you should change the exhaust, fuel processor, and intake. You can do any one by itself which is what I did. A fuel processor normally only lets you add fuel and since my bike was running a little rich I never added one.
    The numbers I've seen show that if only changing one thing, changing the intake will get you the most power but I still haven't done that yet. Anyway, you can change the exhaust without doing anything else but it helps if you do them together.

    Thanks. I spent a lot of time here trying to get an idea of what would sound good.
    I think my son likes bikes as much as I do. It didn't make it onto this version but a second camera caught him at the end saying, "Daddy, that was AWESOME!"

    I like a loud bike. But I plan on doing a lot of long distance riding with the girlfriend. Loud pipes on the highway after a while really suck... Honestly I think the Vulcan 900 has some of the best sounding stock exhaust other than a Harley.

    • @MrRuger1977
      @MrRuger1977 4 года назад +2

      I never find them that bad at the higher rpm, I travel all day on the highway with my Vance and Hines and they are fine, Not too loud. The stock exhaust sound is...Well its a stock exhaust sound and to each their own but I think its terrible.

    After this video I switched to the Quiet Core Baffles, part #9105Q. I have another video on here with them in. It's hard to tell a difference in the video because I don't get above 35mph but at cruising speed those baffles do make a big difference.
    I also noticed the bike running better with them. Decel popping was reduced and I didn't smell like gas everywhere I went. I haven't changed the intake or added a fuel processor yet but I have been considering it.

    Robb, that is a Memphis Shades batwing fairing. You can get them from most dealers or any of the big parts websites.
    The fairing itself, windshield, and mounting hardware are all separate parts when you get ready to order.

  • @q2candoeasy
    @q2candoeasy  13 лет назад +2

    @halun1952 Thank you, good sir. I switched to the Cobra quiet core baffles a month or so after I got the pipes. They quiet the pipes down a little but really reduce the decel popping. I plan on adding a BAK and fuel processor at some point but haven't done it yet.

  • @q2candoeasy
    @q2candoeasy  11 лет назад

    That's a Memphis Shades Batwing fairing. I got mine from Ron Ayers but you can buy it at pretty much any places that sells bike parts. Make sure you buy everything-the fairing, windshield, and mounting hardware are all separate pieces. All together it was around $400 and I added a tri-pouch that attaches to the windshield for another $90.

  • @q2candoeasy

    That is the stock seat but I've since switched to a Corbin Dual Tour. That one moves you back and down slightly. A Mustang will move you up/forward compared to the stock seat.

    Sounds great and I like the batwing fairing. I thought about the batwing on my 900 classic, but decided to go with ape hanger bars and plan to get a short windshield instead. I went with the Hard Krome DD 3" Big Straights on mine. I have a video on my channel

    Your video has helped me decide to purchase this exhaust. Coincidentally, I was reading reviews on the K&N filter on amazon, and I think you have a review there. Have you installed a fuel management system too, and is it necessary?

    • @q2candoeasy
      @q2candoeasy  8 лет назад +1

      +Derek Ashwood Thanks. Yes, I had the K&N filter for a while and wrote about it on Amazon. I didn't change the intake housing, just the filter element inside the stock air intake. I wasn't looking for any performance change, I just wanted to NOT have to worry about changing the air filter all the time. Never added a fuel processor, and didn't have any problems. If you change both intake and exhaust, the consensus is that you do need a processor. If you only change one, consensus is that you don't need a processor. Enjoy the new exhaust. Installation is pretty easy and can be done by one person with just a few basic tools.

      Yes and yes. I added some better baffles to keep them from being TOO loud, and the gears on this bike were noisy.

    • @q2candoeasy
      @q2candoeasy  8 лет назад

      +AdamTheCaptain In this video, I still had the Cobra standard baffles, but those really don't do anything. A few months after this video, I switched to the Cobra quiet core baffles. Still a nice sound, but it took the edge of the sound and quieted everything down some at highway speeds.

    These would be a lot nicer with the optional long/straight Baffles. All the tone....half the volume !

    • @q2candoeasy
      @q2candoeasy  3 года назад +1

      I have another video with the baffles in, but you can't really tell a difference at low speed. More importantly than taking the edge off, those baffles helped the bike run better. I recommend them to anybody who installs these pipes.

  • @carrysmith2008

    ..did u gain an better performance from the after market pipes?>i heard u loose engine back pressure,MPG,HP and the motor heats up more,

    • @q2candoeasy
      @q2candoeasy  8 лет назад +1

      I never had the bike on a dyno, so this is just based on how it felt, not concrete numbers:
      At first, it seemed to lose a little power and not run so great. I added the Cobra quiet core baffles and that made it much better. The bike didn't seem to struggle and felt like it ran a lot better after that.

      Never...NEVER attempt to tell me or any1 else how to dress. You quite show your own fears and inexperience but that is ALL! If I want to get a minor burn or 2 (usually takes 2 for my body/brain to adjust stance) it is absolutely my business and not even something you have authority to comment on...think all u want but shut it!!
