    Since I rarely tow with more than a small trailer and since we receive 8 meters (yes, meters) of snow per winter in my neighborhood of Eastern Quebec, I still want to go with the Tremor. But in your situation, your call only makes sense.

    Yah I was tempted by the tremor, but not having the 4k tow package was a deal killer for me. I just ordered the XLT AWD lux with 4k tow and 360. I just ordered a lift and some bigger tires. I don't do much off-roading, but I need the better clearance and tires for snowy winters here in Alaska!

    Very logical and practical reasoning went into your decision. Yes, the Tremor package is pretty appealing on the outside and mechanically, but the interior to many seems like a bit of a downgrade, and the mechanical limitations on payload and towing is a dealbreaker for many more people.

      You paid $7500 markup? I know im 8 months later but I just bought a Tremor at MSRP. I'm within an hour of you. FYI, I do love my XLT Tremor AND the upgrades you made to yours. I wanted the Tremors locking difs. And so for they work great. Best situation would be if they offered the locker on the non Tremor to keep the 4k towing. I still have a RAM 2500 for trailer towing so It's not an issue for me. Great job on the video.

  • @MrNathan07

  • @timdaoust4284
    @timdaoust4284 Год назад +6

    If the tremor has the same engine and transmission as the fx4,why can it only tow half as much? That's a huge difference!

    • @themaverickhntr
      @themaverickhntr  Год назад +5

      Same engine and transmission BUT NOT THE SAME radiator or transmission fluid cooler. With the newer front end on the Tremor (better approach angle for off-roading) there is not room to fit the cooling components associated with the 4K Towing package available on the FX4 and standard AWD Mavericks. Also, because the Tremor has somewhat softer suspension springs designed for off-road use, they are not as well suited to towing heavy loads. So, combine those two physical limitations, and that's why Ford caps the tow rating of the Tremor at 2,000 pounds.

      Compared to what? An F-150? Your Subaru? A Tacoma? I'll admit the Maverick looks tiny by today's pickup standards, but when you get the spec sheet out and start comparing dimensions it's actually not as small as you think. And it's certainly not small compared to the original Ranger or Chevy S-10 pickup. But yes, it's definitely small compared to all the other trucks available today.

    • @themaverickhntr
      @themaverickhntr  Год назад +1

      Agreed! Perhaps in a future model year they will figure out how to combine all the necessary components for you to get a Tremor and 4K towing capability.

    • @jerryhallett2937
      @jerryhallett2937 Год назад +3

      I feel like the only thing stopping the tremor from pulling 4K is the tall softer more off-road suspension. If you load that much on the back end it would make the truck squat to much causing the front end to come up. Which isn’t safe especially at any highway speed. I really think a simple fix to get 4K towing capability or atleast close is too add airbags inside the rear coil springs. If you hook up a trailer and the truck squats, air up the rear to compensate. Then the truck is level again plus the tremor has thicker CV axles and a transmission cooler which only help in towing situations.

    • @jerryhallett2937
      @jerryhallett2937 Год назад +2

    • @themaverickhntr
      @themaverickhntr  Год назад

      Ride is a bit more stiff than stock, but still very nimble. I lost 4-5 mpg in fuel economy. For me, it's still a no-brainer, as I need the added clearance for what I want to use the truck for, and a bigger truck won't fit in my garage. A lifted Maverick is right-sized for me.

    Neither trim is suitable for towing safely! 4K lbs is nothing and maybe nothing more than an open little flatbed trailer with a lawnmower on it. If you towed a small travel trailer with gear in it, fresh water, gray water and black water on board, plus your gear and two people in the truck, you’re going to push the truck around and be unsafe, no doubt about it. You’d need at least a Ranger or larger. That being said, this is a great little truck for around the house, mild two track trails and plenty for many people’s needs. Rock crawler no way, but it is not intended for that type of of use! Maverick Tremor, Lariat all the way for me! Nice job Ford and good review Sir👍🏻
