Imho it’s because he’s not attractive. The world is that shallow when it comes to things like this. I honestly believe that’s why they don’t want him to be a head coach. You’re not going to get that push of you’re not somewhat attractive. It’s sad imo.
Not sure it's Sam's looks, though Sam doesn't present well in front of the media. None of that should matter as long as he can coach. I'm a lifelong Lakers fan and if Sam was on the other team, he scared me. He always hit big shots, organized the offense and defense, always made the right play.

Unfortunately looks matter. In addition, there’s probably something else going on that we don’t know. Sam is definitely long overdue for a coaching opportunity. I hope he gets it soon, if not with the Lakers, perhaps some place else.
We've been hearing this Sam Cassell talk for what, 10+ years now? This reminds me of Bienenmy in the NFL. Maybe he doesn't interview well, but there's a clear consensus that he's not considered HC material in the league. Assistants shouldn't get a shot because they "deserve it." They should get a shot because that team thinks he can be the next great HC, and if a team thought that he'd already have a HC job.

He did what was best for him. The Lakers aren't the same organization since Dr. Buss passed.
At this point why not just get one of the players from the (2000 - 2002 Lakers Championship Teams) and have one of those former players be the next Head Coach of the Lakers. Just hire somebody already L.A Lakers. Lol 😂
