I hope the budgie has another budgie partner. It wants to groom the pigeon, but they dont know their language. Budgies live in big groups in nature. They are very sociable. Every parrot needs the same breed partner.
Owned many Budgies. They are often very nervous and quiet birds when young. But when they're finally used to being around you, my goodness, they become overly excited in seeing you. They want to be as close to your face as possible. They want to see the inside of your nostrils, nibble your hair, and call after you (like a lost child) when you walk away.
The fact he or she will just sit there by choice and not go bat 💩 crazy, flying around constantly instead blows my mind. Let alone everything else. Is this the norm for budgies or is yours like that one off kid that should be teaching the teachers instead?

We have 2 awesome beautiful cats and 2amazing adorable smart potty trained rescued bearded dragons. And miserable trolls lol are the last thing I want to deal with in my happy home

The way the pigeon is so much bigger but backs onto the edge of the chair to get away is so funny. The budgie also starts mimicking the pigeons movements to make it more comfortable! They're both very sweet

I love pigeons and morning doves. They're loyal to their mates, very smart, amazing flyers...beautiful. We humans need to stop and see all the beautiful wildlife we share space with...and protect them when we can.
Fun fact: pigeons are fully domesticated like dogs and cats are, while parrots like this budgie are not domesticated at all. The city pigeons you see actually used to be pets a long time ago, but we essentially abandoned them to fend for themselves. That's why it's perfectly legal to take one off the streets and make it your pet, as it's the same as adopting a stray dog or cat.

You can, however, feed pigeons and interact with them provided you're not encouraging them to be a nuisance and foul the area. A lot of businesses will put up special guards against pigeons and other birds for numerous reasons but it's fine if it's your own land and they're not doing any harm. My grandfather had an entire flock of local pigeons so used to him that one once followed him inside like a dog to walk about for a bit. He was very fond of them, owing to the fact that they did so much for soldiers like him during the war carrying messages and often under life-threatening conditions, and people used to consider them very highly. Then, some twat started calling them rats with wings, the name stuck, and people thought of them as disease carriers instead of useful companions (and tasty!). I would discourage feeding seagulls however as they're a threat to small dogs and children. They've been known to attack babies and even adults to get food.

When a budgie doesn't have one of its own species to pair up with, but another bird of roughly similar size is available, it can try to court the bird even though they're different species. I hope you're careful with them interacting like that, it looks like the pigeon was annoyed and went to peck at him to back off and with its longer straight bill it could harm the budgie if it catches him in the eye.

Then, you have the *Praying Mantis* - behaves in a humanoid manner, it looks at you and tracks you. It is freaky regardless being a lesser insect - theoretically. Same as a jumping spider, their behaviors are just more approachable or beyond its purpose; it's curiosity. Compared to a huge senseless spider.
Our budgies are too scared of our barn swallow to try to talk to him. He’s a bit of a loner but when he flies around they are flat out scared. I guess he is black and kinda hawk shaped. But he’s half the size of them. Birds are so fascinating.

I think when birds groom together they are showing affection. I noticed it with all different birds. My birds will stand on me or close by and groom but don't want me to touch them. It's sweet.
This is adorable. I too have a pigeon who has 3 budgie buddies. "Pidgee" has been with me about 15 years. She is very smart and alert. Notices everything. The budgies sing and play a lot so the whole group has company. I have them in 2 cages, side by side. Thanks so much for this unusual video!!!! USA 😊
