So if I have my speakers connected to my audio interface, how do I still monitor the sound when I have to switch the io in reaper to the helix for this?
Awesome tutorial! I’d love to see one about getting your DAW to send midi signals to Helix to change snapshots at certain points while recording a track.
Yes, definitely very, very helpful. There’s so many tips & insights, and so much info packed into this, I’ll have to rewatch this a few more times. But my mind was just racing as I watched with things I could do and things I want to change in my own recording workflow, how I play and what I play, I had to literally pause, take notes and plan! And your playing, as usual, was really excellent & quite flawless. This is super cool, Jason. And so good of you to share this with us. Thanks.
Thanks so much Jason, after much mucking around and looking at other tutorials on this subject, I finally landed on yours and finally had a win!! Awesome work mate!
Hi Jason minute 22:00 when you make the insert on the guitar DI, you mention a Helix instance native. I cannot find it on my Cubase 10. Do I missing something ?
I don’t need this with Helix native or other plugins right? It’s only with hardware? Because if you turn off native, theres already a dry/di signal recorded.
Awesome video Jason, you have come to my rescue yet again! I have been trying to get the clean signal into my Reaper for hours, starting to pull my hair out. I had set the input for channel 7 but didn't set the output to USB, I guess something was not working. I couldn't get a clean signal to re-amp with. Thanks Bro! I have Native too, also use THU and some other plugins so this is very handy info!
very very cool stuff Jason. Great tutorial that Im sure will help a lot of folks out there make their Helix even MORE useful than it is. I dont record/reamp but this is great info. Stay safe
Nice video, thanks for the upload! Maybe you know already, but I noticed you double clicked and typed 0 to bring back the fader to zero. Another, and for my liking, easier way is to hold CTRL down while pressing in the "fader slot" e.g. right under the fader, and it will jump back to zero.
Hi Jason, do you think I can use this reamping technique for vocals. I mean I connect a mic 🎤 in my helix floor and I have to create a stereo track and another track with the Dry signal does it work?
What if your 4cm with helix in the fx loop of amp and going out the emulated output of amp into interface? Will the usb out recongnize and properly output the whole 4cm signal chain or?
Can a reamp box such as a Radial Engineering unit do anything the Helix can't? My goal is to buy and use a Line 6 Pod Go to reamp using a tube amp. Is that doable? Thanks for posting this video.
Do you know if re amping with a DI using the Helix is possible in Reason? I’m having a hard time implementing your process in that DAW; the USB 7 track will not record any data.
Question about Helix Native way. We have DI signal and put Native on top of that. But can we somehow record sound created that way on new track (like you did with hardware)? I have a lot of different guitar sounds in one project (Reaper), so have to create multiple instances of Native - one for every sound. I'd like to get rid of them, because project become overwhelming for the PC :)
I can't see Output 3 in the routing of Reaper. I have ASIO Helix LT but no idea what I did. However I can see a lot of outputs in my Audio Configuration.
It would be useful if the DI signal bypassed the input block on the Helix. If you record using the noise gate on the input block it is there on the DI signal as well.
Thanks for another great Helix feature explained Jason! I compared the result of having a loop at the beginning of the chain vs reamping and sometimes it sounds different to my ears. Any Reason why that should be the case?
Great job Jason! I haven't bought a Helix yet, but I've been prepping myself and I've learned a lot from your videos! Although, I have a stupid question or maybe missed something, but why would you want to do the 2nd method of re-amping? As I see it, you may be saving some resources, but you're losing time if you're re-recording track/s rather than just inserting Helix Native. What other advantages are there?
I have a hard time understanding the difference between stereo and mono. My processed signal with the effect chain from usb 1-2 is stereo, my direct dry signal from usb 7 is mono. When I play back the dry signal I only hear it on one side of my headset (?). How can I possibly make this mono sound on one ear a stereo sound with a signal chain? What am I doing wrong here?
One of the biggest problems im finding in that the Dry signal into Helix is way too low for one of my instruments. It appears that there is no options in Helix to increase the input level like there is on a typical Interface. You may say just turn the volume up, but when you zoom in on the waveform you can see its stepped so i would assume this is a degraded signal. Anyone have any solutions on dry signal levels?
How in the world did the reamped (thru hardware Helix) track end up being earlier in time than the D.I. track? Reverse latency?? Genuinely just curious.
Why would the re-amped (round trip to helix and back) track (at around 16 minutes in) need to be nudged FORWARD in time? If latency was an issue, the round tripped track would appear LATER in time, and thus have to be nudged backward. I'm guessing there's Reaper's latency compensation at work...
Pre-Order of my latest album, very limited edition pressing of 100, running for 60 days:
bit.ly/2zxdyyq
I'd buy it if I still owned a vinyl player ;)
I know the album can already purchased in digital format, is a CD release planned at some point?
So if I have my speakers connected to my audio interface, how do I still monitor the sound when I have to switch the io in reaper to the helix for this?
Vids like this are the reason I watch you about 5 days a week...! Keep it up Jason, you're a godsend!
Awesome tutorial! I’d love to see one about getting your DAW to send midi signals to Helix to change snapshots at certain points while recording a track.
Thanks for taking the time to do these in depth Helix videos. Very much appreciated!

That is awesome! So glad it was helpful 😀
This is absolutely brilliant Jason, I've always known this was possible but didn't know how it was done. Thank you very much!
Thanks Jason for your amazing tutorial!!! You deserve a five star rating!!!
Great video , really appreciate the info !! Super useful!

This helps me a lot (and is also enjoying to watch)! Thank's for the detailed explanation & awesome presentation!
Thanks for making this stuff absolutely crystal clear Jason. Great video.
Funny, just yesterday I googling and trying to find some Reaper + Helix reamping info and here it is. Thanks :)
hey Jason.
awesome!! thanks for the info.
I just wanna say that you are the best!!!
Going to try this out when my home studio is finished next week. :)
Thank you for the help Jason.
First class tutorial Jason, very helpful indeed. Thanks

Great tutorial! I'll try it out in Ableton :)
I don't do reamping, but this video inspired me to try. Great content as usual, Jason.
Another perfect tutorial !
Hey Jason , another great vid. Can you do one on usb 8 and how to get a usable signal from it !!!
very very cool stuff Jason. Great tutorial that Im sure will help a lot of folks out there make their Helix even MORE useful than it is. I dont record/reamp but this is great info. Stay safe
Thank you for the videos in your new series. Very helpful :)
Hey Jason, Perfect!! GOT IT! So appreciate your step-by-step walk-thru with every little detail in CUBASE! Thanks so much. Cheers :-)
What an amazing tutorial.
Thank you, so much...!

Great vid. How can we got the dry track and record the process track at the same time and after if i want reamp. Thanks
Did you watch this video?
Just open up two separate tracks. Set one track to Input 1 and the other track to Input 7.
Master Jason, what is the purpose to record a Guitar DI mono and Guitar stereo? Please.
Id guess with a clean signal, you will have no stereo effects thus no need for stereo recording.

This is one of the best ways to track guitars in 2022.

Hi Jason, How can it be done over xlr,? I'm not keen on having my PC permanently routed thru the helix

Is there a way to run the dry track from the DAW to an actual amp?
Thank you thank you thank you!

On the Stomp the DI signal is on output 5 I think.
¡Thanks a lot, Jason!

It's hard panned, just center it.
Большое спасибо за понятный гайд!

Why did we go back into Native? I thought we were just going to use helix.
He said Helix Native, but it was actually HX Edit, to control your Helix from your PC.
Is it possible to re-amp using the Helix and a real amp with 4cm? Thanks

Phenomenal!!
Thanks Music Law 😀
Here I am, rocked you like a Hurri, (oopps copyright) Tornado!!
Haha 😂😂
Great..thx ..Rock you like a hurricane ;-)
