I like the narrative intros. If you know nothing about AOS lore, they give insight into what the faction is all about. Stats and playstyle are important, but so is your personal connection to the folks you're sending into slaughter.
One big perk of having your main battleline be pretty old: its from the era of huge customization, there are soooooooo many bits and extra options on each sprue.
HeyWoah your Faction Focuses are some of the most informative content around for AoS and you're great. I wish 40k was more diverse just to create the opportunity for you to dabble in those armies as well.
@@marioricomeza2839 the hard part right now for finding good faction based content for 40k is that 9th edition was very recently dropped, and the coronavirus stuff has slowed releases down to even slower pace so a lot of content hasnt been updated with new info. For article based info for each faction i recommend the goonhammer start competing series, and they have them separated based on which have been updated for 9th edition. For videos, Tabletop Titans have great gameplay videos as well as a few faction focus videos. Auspex Tactics also tends to do deep dives on many areas of 40k and is one of the fastest sources of updates.

@@taserrr When this comment was posted in October 2020 we were sitting four months into 9th edition with space marines and necrons being the only codexes to show for it. The winning game plan at that point in the edition heavily favored some 8th edition armies and made multiple others extremely difficult to stay on even ground with, go check out the late 2020 tournament results. Also AoS has so much more visual diversity between armies it's unreal. It's like if every 40k faction was xenos.
It would fun if the ever winter did something. Maybe allow the yetis be summoned on the board edge. Something like turn 2 they can come on your board edge, turn 3 the sides and turn 4 your opponents.
Amazing how a two minute story ,about an army I previously had little interest in, can almost convince me to double dip and buy the Beastclaw Raiders Starter box. Too bad your Gloomspite Gitz vid already convinced me to follow the light of the bad moon lol. Might just settle for buying the battletome to read more of the lore.
Feast of Bones was such a great deal for starting Ogors. That + one SC BCR and you got a nice diverse army. Or just stock up on BCR boxes and play them "pure". 3 could be enough for 2000 points if you use battalions.
Firebelly is a personal top 10 model ever. Maori Warrior island fire dancer vibe and such an incredible sculpt. I like the imagery that he uses his fire cloak spell to keep him warm in the everwinter blizzards. A 4+ smite shooting attack is awesome and one of his spells gives out a massive bubble of -1 to hit. Honestly I wish they would flesh out that lore more. I want to run 6 of them in a 2k list hahahaha🔥🔥🔥

This series has been great. Started recently as a 40k player but was going to do a demon/chaos army for the second one so I'll be interested to see what you have to say for them when you can get to them.
That short story in the beginning was just amazing. I would love to see a Black Library Novel solely focused on the Ogors done in the same style. They have enough intellect to enrichen the narrative (not like writing a book about Orruks... which is always tough).

I'll be honest, I didn't know Mournfang were carnivorous until today. I suppose it makes sense that they would be, it is Ogors after all, though they look like herbivores to me.
Very much enjoyed this and I'd been looking forward to it for a while. I made a Boulderhead monster mash list my 'Lockdown Army' and built it but never got round to painting it. It's not the optimal build as I went for Frostlord on Stonehorn, 2 Huskards on Thundertusk, then 2 Stonehorn Beastriders and a Thundertusk Beastriders but I was mostly building to try and make them look varied and give me something fun to run. A group of mates are doing a monthly hobby pledge and it's got me excited about painting my BCR again. If I enjoy them when we can get back to playing I reckon I might try out either all Stonehorns all the time, or a mix of Stonehorns and Mournfangs.
I tried out Kragnos in BCR on TTS, and he's probably too expensive for how much the rest of ogor stuff costs, but 3D6 charges with stonehorn impact hits are Fun.
Yes, vulture is far and away better than chaintrap rules wise. Such a long range and reliable is fun. Chaintrap obviously looks Kino though aesthetically.
Your description of what makes Mawtribes difficult to play reminds me of the Human team in Blood Bowl. It's sold to beginners as, "This is easy to play because they're straightforward models without a lot of rules", but that lack of specialization and fancy tricks/gimmicks actually makes them one of the hardest teams to play (as they're entirely reliant on just playing the game well) and thus one of the worst starting picks for a new player. It sounds like Mawtribes are in a similar boat.
Yes, I have a list with 5 stonehorns that I meme with, and then a healthy diverse list with two nice groups of mournfang. They're killer with linebreaker - just tricky to set up the combo.
I am in love with the thunder tusk models and you mentioned about running "7 of them" when I checked general handbook it seems to be limited to 4 behemoths in a 2k match play game. Is there something I'm missing? Love the video the information and lore involved was great :)
Yes, as per the FAQ, when a behemoth gains the Battleline keyword, they lose the Behemoth keyword (though they are still a monster). As such, there's no force organization chart limit on the number you can run.
I'd be really interested in you doing one for Daughters of Khaine and Lumineth Realm-Lords. I loved the Elves (and Bretonnia... *cries*) in the Old World and am on the fence as to which army tostart for AoS between DoK and Lumineth.
I still think butchers should have been priests, invoking the hunger of Gorkamorka. Would help with the ability to actually get off their buffs/debuffs and with that could change the mawpot to be a bonus to priests which in turn helps the Beastclaw priest.

I'm currently painting a kit bashed butcher and also building me a slaughtermaster, I already got a new base and a pot I found for a DND Set, now I just need to spray paint the slaughtermaster and once he's done. Attach the chain. but before I do I got to put one more Gnoblar to my slaughter master as his "Crew" And I've collected so many kits with the extra parts to make regular gluttons that I can pretty much make a full unit and more of globlar squads
What do you think about them mixed with the new gargants? I think a gargant with some kit bashing leading a army of yeti riding cannibals would look super cool on table

Um can't you run those gargaunt things in a mawtribe now I'm kinda new to aos (40k orks for dah win) and tbh I'm more of a painter/possible seller eventually (but i have a feeling im gonna make these guys a permanent army cause they look cool and kind of look like a local senate candidate (youll know which one i mean if you see him) which makes me like them twice as much for the joke/meme value)

You might've sold me on Mawtribes. Up until this vid, I was torn between FEC and Seraphon after, while wanting to buy into Sons of Behemat, I also need to hobby sooner rather than later. Ogors seem like the optimal mix of Fun and Hobbying.

Yeah I just didn't include it since it's not matched play legal, sadly. Same with the one from icewind assault for bcr, and I think all of the other special battalions from boxed sets
Usually not since buffs would only land on one of those units, and with combat activations being you go I go, msu ogors #2, 3,4 might be killed before they get a chance to attack.
@@HeyWoah I am starting up Ogor Mawtribes(specifically Underguts) and I am scared to death of Lumineth Realm Lords and their shooting. Do you have any advice against them? I think my fear of them is causing me to ignore other aspects of my lists just to deal with them.
In specifically a sniper mirror match, LRL seems like a brutally lop-sided matchup on paper. Longer range than you, over half of your ranged damage comes from the Tyrant, so all they need to do is shoot him in the head with one unit of sentinels and you're greatly weakened (not to mention their ethereal spell to ignore ironblaster's rend-2). This and other reasons are generally why underguts players stop at 3 ironblasters rather than the full 4 - so they have enough room in the rest of their army to compensate in case the Shoot Plan isn't great in a particular matchup. LRL is very slow, and you are not (move 8 all, or way faster if on stonehorns) - this means that your path to victory is getting to objectives first, and then pressing forward to make sure the fights happen off the points, so you keep scoring while they're trying to chop through your lines to get there. It's less likely one of them can skirt around a flank and steal something with their general slowness, though shooting wizards is good since Speed of Hysh is a thing (on the flip side, opponent has to constantly worry against Ogors about some stonehorn/mournfang unit coming in out of nowhere and tagging an obj, so they will want to fight on the points).
That's a decent narration voice. Ive been put off by over the top narrators who obviously aren't into the material but that initial story part was fine to listen too. Not abrasive and into it

Couldn't you do more damage by having 4 MSU ogre units charging compared to having 1 unit of 8+?
Usually not since buffs would only land on one of those units, and with combat activations being you go I go, msu ogors #2, 3,4 might be killed before they get a chance to attack.
@@HeyWoah I am starting up Ogor Mawtribes(specifically Underguts) and I am scared to death of Lumineth Realm Lords and their shooting. Do you have any advice against them? I think my fear of them is causing me to ignore other aspects of my lists just to deal with them.
In specifically a sniper mirror match, LRL seems like a brutally lop-sided matchup on paper. Longer range than you, over half of your ranged damage comes from the Tyrant, so all they need to do is shoot him in the head with one unit of sentinels and you're greatly weakened (not to mention their ethereal spell to ignore ironblaster's rend-2). This and other reasons are generally why underguts players stop at 3 ironblasters rather than the full 4 - so they have enough room in the rest of their army to compensate in case the Shoot Plan isn't great in a particular matchup.
LRL is very slow, and you are not (move 8 all, or way faster if on stonehorns) - this means that your path to victory is getting to objectives first, and then pressing forward to make sure the fights happen off the points, so you keep scoring while they're trying to chop through your lines to get there. It's less likely one of them can skirt around a flank and steal something with their general slowness, though shooting wizards is good since Speed of Hysh is a thing (on the flip side, opponent has to constantly worry against Ogors about some stonehorn/mournfang unit coming in out of nowhere and tagging an obj, so they will want to fight on the points).

That's a decent narration voice. Ive been put off by over the top narrators who obviously aren't into the material but that initial story part was fine to listen too. Not abrasive and into it

@@HeyWoah i agree, their lore sounds epic. an army of delusional cannibal vampire zombies that ride undead dragons, probably my favourite faction lorewise but i dont know how to play or build an army of them.

Pretty good content, although I'm not completely sold on the playstyle of this particular faction. You should stick with the narrative intro. It really sets the tone for the entire video.
