FN 509c mrd's can't handle federal hst +p ammo so be careful what ammo you use. Bought mine last month, 2 weeks later took it to the firing range for the first time and the handle cracked. Sent it to FN and they said "sorry for your luck, must have been your ammo, warranty denied."
Wont sell me a replacement frame etc, its either buy a new gun or nothing.
Retired LE after 35 years. Was using duty ammo that my glock 17 had no problem with. Totally discusted with their customer service.
Really really wanted to like this gun and maybe I just got a fluke but after this treatment I will never buy another FN.
@Whatever Yo I don’t disagree with you, And I am not here to say it was definitely the gun or it was definitely the ammo, and I might even go so far as to say it very well could have been the ammo, my problem with FN is the way they handled the issue, the customer satisfaction part of it.
I was not looking for a free new replacement. I wanted to buy a new frame at cost or even slightly above cost, but was instead told you have to buy a whole new gun. That is what I have the problem with. First time the gun was ever fired after just purchasing it.

Every year at SHOT Show I manage to catch someone on video who said that he/she/they weren't going to be at the convention this year. Every year, I spot someone on video who clearly lied to me or decided to go at the last minute. It's hilarious.
I'm not upset either. I just think they ought to know better by now. There are cameras _everywhere_ at SHOT Show and you will most likely get caught at some point. Apparently this year is no different. He/she/they watch YT and participate in the arfcom forums, so I know they're going to see this.

The new FN MRD has no included optic and has an MSRP of $800.
The new Canik subcompacts come with a $300 optic and have an MSRP of $650.
I really like my buddy's Canik but in my opinion there really is a huge difference in quality between his Canik and my 509's. There is a reason why it costs a little more. The Canik's are nice though.
@@jamesmanning8795 I have the Canik TP9 Elite SC and had the FN 509 MRD. The quality wasn’t much different especially for the difference in price
@@RepentorPerish77 Since writing my earlier comment I have actually purchased a tp9sfx. It has been nothing but malfunctions and frustrations. It was going to be my wife's USPSA gun. It is buried in the safe now. I am still carrying my 509 MRD C everyday and also running my 509 T at USPSA matches at least 2x a month. No issues with either.
@@jamesmanning8795 so you got a lemon and the entire manufacturer isn’t quality? The FNs wouldn’t even fire after being submerged in water on several videos. And I am 100 percent certain a few FN lemons are out there. I also have experience with both and mine have both been proven quality
@@RepentorPerish77 I understand what you are saying. All I am saying is that I had a sample size of 1 canik and it was bad, and a sample size of 3 fn's and they all run great. Canik has left a bad taste in my mouth is all. All of this is just my opinion.
Tried to buy the 509 tactical from my local cabelas. They told me they have to hold it to sell it on there black Friday sale. I was pretty freaking disappointed after driving over a hour to the store.

so are the slide dimensions/barrel length the same on all of the 509 line? im making holsters and need to know if i can get one holster mold to accommodate them all. obviously the tactical version has different sights.
Does the X300 fit on the compact?
Is the compact with the 15 round magazine installed the same height as the midsize grip?
God i wish those weren't as expensive in yurop. If only FN made guns for civilians in Belgium too.

Yes
I have the full size tactical and the OG compact (non-MRD). On the full size I'm running the Delta Point Pro and a Surefire X300U. On the compact I'm running the TLR-1 HL. Once I find a holster I like I'll start carrying the OG compact. Anyone have any good suggestions?

Yep..anything that works in the full and mid size 509's will work...you'll need spacers for a better look but they *will* work.

Any of the magazines that will fit in the full and mid size 509's will work in the 509mrd compact. You'll need a spacer for that flush looking fit though.

@@kasper_429 Well at least you got a laugh out of me! You'd normally assume its all new products, especially at SHOT.
Maybe if FN fixed their striker problems, they would have a decent gun on their hands! The striker WILL break, so plan on buying the aftermarket Apex striker for about $50 and that will solve this pistols problem...

@@TheDareD3vil I broke (2) strikers on my FN 509 Tactical and they reached out to me and asked me if I wanted a refund, which I took! There are forums full of people that have had breakages and why do you think Apex made a forged striker? Cause FN has QC issues and that fixes the problem. So believe what you want, but I have had first hand experience...
That's so rough we don't hear about it but people don't trust sig for some first batch striker issues. Glad you got money back because I've heard people wear thousands of rounds through some FN handguns and FN refuses to fix or replace the handgun. So I'm hesitant to get a 509 compact.

A “tactical pistol” is set up for home defense
It’s ready to go with the sight and light at a moments notice at 2 am and incase of a home invasion youre going to want/need the extended mag for suppressive fire to cover an escape if needed
