Oh my gosh, this is one of the most amazing videos I have seen in a long time! You can hear each and everyone of their voices and I could pick them all out (I am a Cowsill fan from way back)! You can hear all the instruments including the Tamborine as clear as a bell and yes, I just used one of the lyrics to the song! Amazing video and Barry, I miss you so much!
No ear monitors back then, and probably very limited stage mix (56 years ago!). How the hell could the individual backing voices even hear themselves? Gorgeous sounds...John on drums, just a boy of...12 or so, but played like a 20 year veteran. Bravo, Cowsills!
One of the best videos from the early years. Every member of this group has such musical talent, and when you put them together it’s magical. Those harmonies. Those instruments. And whoever did the audio did an amazing job!
@@grouchosays ya she is really is putting in a good effort for one her age here :) i think in interviews she has said this is her favorite early cowsills song..
Extremely tight. Very underrated for their live performance. Shows great talent here. 6 harmonies going on. Fantastic. Lucky to have this superb quality of audio and video.
Bernie thanks much here for your comment. Since these live performances of the "cowsills", are so rare to find.. I think few people realize just how talented these children were.. Its like a well guarded secret,, and a lovely Gem if you happen to discover them !
I honestly didn't know what to expect when I clicked on this but that was absolutely brilliant! Those harmonies were something else entirely. It's just a shame they don't get the kudos they deserve for things like this.
When we’re overseas in 1968 in countries they so great live and singing in different languages even tell today 56 years later and on tour this summer starting in June see them live on RUclips
That's a great live sound. The two little guys on bass and drums are a solid rhythm section. Everybody is solid. Very impressive. A real band as opposed to actors in a television fantasy band using studio musicians.
I love the back line of 3 brand new 1968 Fender Dual Showman amps and that classic Farfisa organ up on the stage. Bands looked so cool back then. And these guys got a great balanced sound out of their instruments. Impressive.
I was born in '65 and I have fond memories of having two older sisters who played their music and even played guitar to them and many others. That's how I got to love them and all the others. And the 70's expanded my musical tastes with all who came out 🙂!
Dang, that is a hell of a good live performance. I dare say it was pretty close to Carpenters quality. And what an appreciative audience those servicemen were!
When i think of the sixties i think of my brother Tommy joining the army and going to Vietnam. I also think of Hendrix, Joplin, Door, and of course the Cowsills, and all the flower girls!
Bob, Paul, Susan, and John Cowsill have persevered and have done very well for themselves. They continue to play live to a steady fan base to this day.

Cant' keep them down, they Reemerged!! The Cowsills have settled that matter for an undisclosed amount. Bob Cowsill said they're happy with the settlement. Also they still tour and do cruise performances to a waiting audience. They are receiving yet another award, this time in California. Their story is looking pretty good!
@user-ve8ds9bg3c The Cowsill were around long before Partridge Family. They were who the Partridge Family were based on. In fact, they asked the Cowsills to do the show but because the producers didn’t want to use their mother, the group turned it down. The mother runined their chance of true success. What the hell she was doing in a kid's band is a mystery. She was not an attractive woman and made the band look odd.
Best video I have seen on RUclips in some time. This family was insanely talented.
And the father actually acted insane. He was a tyrant who spent all of their money and ticked off everyone in the entertainment business.
@@grouchosays Bud was the reason that Ed Sullivan canceled the contract he had with them.

Groovy stuff, indeed. ✌️
Amazing performance, and that Farfisa!
I loved the Cowsills. They are being inducted into the California Rock N Roll Hall of Fame museum this month.
This is completely live, isn’t it? They were, and are, master harmony singers….so impressive. Sunshine Pop at its finest!
Yes, completely live!

Pro sound! The bass and drums don't sound like kids at all. They rock solid.
Excellent review of this great group!!!

Real pros don't need ear monitors.
I hope the family watches this!!
Thank you so much for posting! AMAZING to see some real good live concert footage of the Cowsills! ❤
You dont pull this level of live performance vocal accuracy off without many many hours of practice. And they are dam good musicians to boot.

ya your right !! , i was just checking to see if there was 6 harmonies, and by gosh there are , wow !
This is so cool. First time I've heard them live in the 60s. No lip-synching here! They were all extremely talented at a young age.
Bill, Bob, Barry, and John used to play in clubs when they were young. They were all to young to actually be in the clubs. lol

I hadn't heard them live before either and I am blown away by their ability to deliver a great sound on stage. Good songwriting as well.
Great band. Great vocals. Very musical.

This live version was better than I thought it would be. That organ solo in the middle sounds better than the horns & strings on the studio version.
Just that ending by itself was WAY ahead of its time, let alone the rest of the song. This family is talent, period.
Oh MAN, they were so good!! Those vocals just kill!! And this is performed live, folks. Unbelievable.
THANK YOU so very much for Sharing. This is the kind of Videos we are missing from that Era.
Fort Gordon. Vietnam. The Cowsills. Never saw this video before. What a talented group they were.
Love the Cowsills!
John Cowsill (on drums) is 12 years old in this clip. 12 years old.

i like the partridge family
Dose anyone know what U.S.Army base was recorded at ?
It may be Fort Gordon, GA... I think
Did they write their own music?
Yes.
Kieth Richards should have brought his mom into the Stones.
Keef doesn't have a mother. He's been here since the beginning. Possibly, the great creator. Cheers.
This is the kind of song they should perform in concert and not trash like “Puff the Magic Dragon.”! No cover versions!
