    Kerry Condon, Mikes daughter from BCSaul, also played Octavia...the sister of Octavian (who grew up to be Augustus Caesar) in the HBO series Rome. Rome was the most expensive tv show ever when it was produced...so much so that it got cancelled in second season, and the story had to be greatly compressed to finish out the series in 2 instead of 5 or 6 seasons. HBO did learn lessons from the production that allowed them to successfully produce a huge series like Game of Thrones.

    I feel like the ending is open ended because it is about choice, the ability to make choices is what makes us human, and in that respect it doesnt matter if we make good or bad calls, because at the end of the day we are still just human. Both main characters in the movie are very flawed people, but they still deserve our love and respect, because had we lived their life, chances are that we would be in their shoes right now and we wouldnt know what to do either.

    i love this movie so much!! it's so mind boggling that a movie that deals with such harsh topics as murder and sexual assault has over all themes of redemption, forgiveness, what it means to be a community, and how radical kindness is never easy but always necessary. loved your reaction keep up the great work!!

    Since you really liked this movie and since you're probably going to love In Bruges, I would also recommend The Guard and Calvary (starring Brendan Gleeson who also stars in In Bruges btw).

    Ooooo, I remember a couple months ago mentioning this movie. It's so good. I knew it won some awards and I went in completely blind when I first saw it, not even a trailer.

    I can't remember if it was "nominated" for anything... Lol... Frances McDormand and Sam Rockwell both got an Academy Award for this movie... So yeah, it definitely was "nominated" for something 😂

    You are going to love McDonagh's films. He usually works in theatre and I think that gives his stories a different take. I recommend watching In Bruges next!

    I first became aware of Martin McDonagh through his fantastic Oscar winning short film, Six Shooter. Everything you'll find in all his features was there from the very start, most notably the deft maneuvers from high hilarity to deep tragedy and back.

    What makes this film so powerful too is how much it defies your expectations. Each time you think you would feel a certain way, the film gives you new information that changes how you understand about something.
    Almost nothing that happens in this movie happens how it's initially suggested. But not a single cheap trick to make us feel like the film lied to us. Only ourselves to blame for any false assumptions.

    I love movies like this. No beginning, no end, just a deep dive in to the middle of a story. I'm sure there is a term for this but I don't know it
    Some recommendations for you;
    Natural Born Killers, story by Tarantino, directed by Oliver Stone, starring Woody Harrelson and Juliette Lewis. A unique movie experience, I've never seen a movie shot like this before or since. Made Harrelson's career by not being able to typecast him.
    Moon, Sam Rockwell at his best and at his best again.
    The Road Warrior, Mel Gibson's introduction to American audiences. Technically it's a sequel but there isn't a need to watch the first. This is the best of the Mad Max franchise and the best "guy movie" ever made.
    Heathers, a dark comedy starring Winona Ryder and Christian Slater. A dark satire of high-school social life and the "teen movie" genre itself.
    Cool Hand Luke, because if you don't watch it, that's a night in the box and because it's one of the greatest movies in the antihero genre.

    Thrilled to see you're watching "In Bruges". One of my favourite films ever. It's got a very Irish sensibility about it (The ability to go from laughter to pure darkness, and back again, in seconds). McDonagh has Irish blood in him and has written some fantastic plays, again featuring the same sensibility - the light to dark and light in dark. to be laughing and crying at the same time.

    Absolutely love this movie. The character arcs, acting, dialogue, directing, and story is just amazing. The casting was brilliant because bad casting would've taken a lot out of this movie. Every actor/actress is top notch.
