Love the way you have re-arranged the back part of your basement to keep it specifically for your children and grandchildren. I completely concur that it would be a good idea to take down the wood framed shelves at the back. That way you are limiting the temptation to put more things back there and it would neaten the visual because when you look through to the back section you will see a blank wall giving you the illusion of a more spacious area. Great decluttering muscles 💪 You deserve a manicure after all that hard work.💅🏼

Was wondering if those bags with the sleeping bags I think, are the ones that you can vacuum suck the air from? If so, you can put two in a bag and make even more room on the shelf.

Basement is looking great! It's funny as kids are getting older and moving out their things, grandkids are coming and now you are storing things for them. The cycle of life and basement clutter! 😁

Might want to wrap the mattress in plastic storing in the basement, I have a basement similar to yours in southern NH we wrapped in plastic to keep any moisture from the floor /walls creeping in

Hellooo Karen. Great idea to move the kiddie items to the other shelf, plus that was t just an empty box it was a huge empty box! Well done. I do feel that decluttering involves lots of shuffling things around until you find a more pleasing set up. I just think maybe it doesn’t ever stop, I’m shifting things from one area to another as items get donated, trashed etc. I think you said once, decluttering is never really ‘done’

I am seeing the progress now! At first, I was concerned that you were moving the same stuff around and it didn't seem like anything was leaving. Yay!!! Karen fix! Nice to see you on this blustery snowy day! I like the do-si-do-ing of the bins! Makes much more sense how you moved all the kid stuff to the corner section! Would a zippered bed cover help the bed to not get musty? (Like a big plastic pillow case that zips). I’ve done that and also put a dryer sheet inside. I’m anxious to see how the summer shelf gets reworked. Would the kayaks fit in the hanging wood shelf you want to remove? Just some thoughts. Have a great rest of your weekend. Hugs! Em ❤❤❤❤

The only thing I’d do different is to keep the sturdy hanging wood shelves and get rid of a plastic set.
At one point it is more shuffeling stuff around and organizing it then actual decluttering things. You get to this point now - so YES progress is made! 🙃 Hugs!
When your son comes to visit, make that his and your husbands chore to take down the shelf you dont want and have them make you a better one. And the stuff you are having me go through make him toss the stuff he dose not want, and him take it to a doting place. You will not have to do a thing. win win for everyone

Karen, you did a fantastic job girl! Looks amazing!! 😁 I have been working my decluttering muscles a lot this week. I like how you shifted everything so it’s more categorized by need/person, makes sense to me. That’s how I roll. I put like with like into broad categories and subdivide as needed. Just a thought - Could you put the kayaks on the hanging shelves or maybe hang them on the wall when the shelves get torn down and relocate the summer gear all to that wall to have it all in one location? Everything is coming together nicely. My son & daughter was here yesterday visiting so I took the opportunity and enlisted their help to remove the last few items from our attic. It is so open now, it has tons of space. My son asked if I had been up there by myself clearing stuff out since we worked a few weeks ago. I said no, and he replied - wow, I didn’t realize we had decluttered so much the last time, it looks great in here. That made me very happy, so I danced a little jig. 🤣 It’s sooooo nice having empty spaces. Thank you soooooo much for all the great motivation you have given us! I watch (or rewatch) one of your videos and one from Melinda @MelindaPlainandSimple EVERY DAY before I start cleaning and decluttering to set my mind frame. Thank you! I hauled a pickup truck load to the donation center on Friday and I have another full load ready to go now that I will haul this week. (My total items decluttered this week is 3,714.) I am still decluttering so I know it won’t be the last. My hubby was telling my mother in law about the load I had hauled off and she exclaimed - Cindy, where are you finding all that stuff? I don’t see anything missing! 🤔🤦♀️😂🤷♀️ I told her from all my nooks & crannies. 😁 (I don’t know whether to take that to mean there’s still WAY to much around or she can’t believe I am getting rid of that much stuff.🤷♀️) Anyhoo, I know I can’t wait till your next video! Was happy to see you! Love the basement declutter!!!! Having morning cocoa and making split pea soup with you. I am moving then repacking my memorabilia chest later this afternoon. P.S.
