Bach - Toccata, but with Tesla Coils

- Toccata by Bach on musical tesla coils! Please, subscribe to collaborate even more with new videos.
For those who did not understand what is going on this video, here's a brief explanation: The main loud music really comes from the tesla coil sparks. They are literally playing the music due to the programmed phase, pulse width and firing frequency! So, there are no speakers, no audio / video special effects. It looks even better in person and sounds almost the same, just without the beat / percussion backing track.
I hope you all enjoy this version where I worked for musical tesla coils!
Any question? feel free to comment on.

The candles in the middle was totally the perfect thing to put in the middle!
The hot air from the flame, also makes it more likely of being struck by the sparks
Franzoli Electronics smart!
@@franzolielectronics ok, I got some new knowledge
WOW ❤️
Yep, because the flames and the electric discharge paths are both plasma, basically energized and now conductive gas (to put it real simple). The flame even danced a bit to it, because of the rapidly changing spark paths / surrounding pressure.
@ @@franzolielectronics What would be really interesting to see, if you used more candles, maybe arranged in some way to guide the sparks. It doesnt have to be anything condutive, just the interaction with the flames itself. I made some experiments with microwave plasma and it was intriguing to see how flames reacted near / inside of it. Maybe that is something you want to look into.

Franzoli doesn’t even need any other instrument. Since has these electronics, which will be approved by the next generation. I’m hoping he does the Wii Sports Theme because that would be cool

Can you imagine Bach seeing lightning itself being mastered to play his creations?
Electric company: this is going to put you in debt
Franzoli: haha, Tesla coil go brrrrrr
@oj ochko No, actually. A tesla coil at this size is probably 750 watts
The cost is actually an extra 70-80 dollars per month per hour that it is used. He probably used many hours to practice this and it would be an extra 200 dollars on his bill, approximately ever time he does a new song.
@@umariqbal7557 practice? The song is made on a computer, then played on the tesla coil on a sd card. There is no practice, or hours of runtime. DRSSTC's cannot run for hours, that's simply impossible. Something would blow up- either the igbt's from overheating or the capacitor bank. Thanks for incorrecting me.
@@squidward752Thanks for correcting me, I never knew the tesla coil could not be run for hours.
Actually, your electric bill does not rely on how much voltage you are using, it relies on how much power (Watts) you are using. A mega volt resonant transformer costs about as much as it costs to use a hair dryer. You are merely stepping up the voltage that your electrical outlet is supplying you.
I can't be the only one thinking that this sounds like 2 tesla coils having a musical battle right? Especially that beginning!

My face wasn't wide enough to contain the grin that came when the main tune started.
now go listen to orochimaru's theme from naruto ;)
I'm almost surprised you haven't been contacted by performing groups. I could see your work meshing with the Trans-Siberian Orchestra.
Dan Koehler actually they do use a giant Tesla coil in there shows. At least in the ones I’ve been to.
I mean, they HAVE used musical tesla coils in their performances as recently as 2019, I believe. Well, their live ones, anyway.

There's something about the way these coils, "sing", that it feels reminiscent of 8-bit music, but at the same time something completely new.
And I love it.
The candles just make this perfect

That was surprisingly GREAT!!! Bach fitted pretty well with the tesla coils

Classical music on Tesla coil - something that is really amazing! A really sophisticated piece of art. A masterpiece.
Thank you for putting the Video in 60fps
I seriously cannot hear the beginning of this song anymore without expecting it to turn into Back on the Rocks, accompanied by RB26-DETT noises.
I have no idea why these videos came up in my recommendations a whole back, bit I'm so glad they did
I made a creepy song. It can’t get creepier.

It’s a terrible night for a curse...
This is perfectly fit for KONO DIO-SAMA DAAA!!
Sounds great! Would love to hear the fugue as well!
I can't help but notice that the coils constantly sound like synthesized sine waves, I assume because that is exactly what they are. Is it, technically, possible to use different wave forms for different sound "flavors"? Sawtooth, various duty cycle squares?
I'm not very sure but these are DRSSTC 's. The current in them is indeed a sinusoid due to resonance. I don't think other tones might be possible. A square pulse input from the inverter bridge eventually becomes sinusoid due to LC resonance. Atleast as per my understanding of this.
From what I understand of musical tesla coils, the actual current is oscillating well above the audible range and the audible notes come from pulsing the coils on and off, so the waveform we're hearing is closer to a square wave. Sine waves are much "cleaner" sounding than this. All the buzzy electrical timbre of the coils comes from the high even harmonics produced by square waves.
Bach would heartily approve. You could probably almost bring him back to life with the power of the coils. Another fantastic iteration. Thank you.
classical music on tesla coils is the most heavy metal thing I've seen all week.
I had just been reading the online news and feeling pretty overwhelmed...then I watched this video. Thank you for always reminding us that there is still beauty left in this world!
If this was on Spotify I would absolutely listen!!!
Extraordinary piece of music
I really like the way the pitch decays slightly at the end of some notes, and the occasional pitch bending.
That is great! Your channel has the perfekt combination of classical and meme music!
Love that there are candles.
You could've shot this without them but I appreciate the little detail.
Total Chills! That was a great version. If you get bored, redoing this with the pedal line would be so sexy.
Forgot to turn on notifications for this channel a while back xD
the candles in the middle SOLD this one
I first heard of your work from a video of Toto's 'Africa'. It ocured to me that this would be a perfect medium for Bach of many sorts. And sure enough, here it is. Much appreciated by a Bach organ music fan, who knows this work like the back of his hand! You should try this with some of the 'inventions' Bach wrote for keyboard, or "The Art of the Fugue". The latter migh need five Tesla coils to do all the parts!
I love the fact you casually have 2 huge musical transformers in your backyard
Imagine a boss fights in a game happens like this and it's just a giant electrical creature
The first thing I thought of was that this would make for an awesome display during Halloween, I mean, creepy music and lightning SCREAMS Halloween. I envision the lab of a mad scientist with this front and center
Fantastic work as always! I'd love to someday have a whole 5-coil arrangement for making music. I can't imagine how much this might cost in electricity though, not to mention build. Still, Keep it up! Classical compositions sound phenomenal when new life is breathed into them.
Thank you!
I really hope that someday I'll be able to play Fantasia in G Major with at least 4 different sized coils
@@franzolielectronics That would be phenomenal. I'd like to eventually try and get a few coils rigged up as guitar amps. I imagine that could add a whole new layer to the sound produced in heavy metal guitar-work. here's to musical tesla coils!
@@Starstuff- I've seen that done before, and it is 1) very loud and 2) extremely awesome. Here's an example, but most videos don't have the right microphone setup to record it properly: ruclips.net/video/iqJn1-S_ecM/видео.html

The super neat thing is that the candles flicker so much because of the plasma from the electricity interacting with the plasma of the flame.
