I think she's a ladybug because she likes the macro categories in bins. But if she loses her inventory count because she can't see what she has, then she's definitely a butterfly! Agree on taking the Clutterbug quiz! Good luck and let us know what you found. :)
That is actually why I watched it. Went looking for videos on this subject and other than this they all seem to start with Step 1 move 75% of you items some place else and go out and buy a bunch of cute containers.
Christine you are the most real and relatable person! Yes getting and staying organized is always a work in progress!!! This pantry organization looks great! I really like the “full bin, don’t need more” concept.
Our families biggest new thing is saying don't put it down put it away. We took a weekend no kiddos and set up new systems and we meet once a week to tweak those systems if we find an error like a really rough day we leave dishes so now we immediately put them in the dishwasher vs the sink.
This idea is genius! I used these bins to reorganize my smaller pantry and it worked great!!! I can now easily find items and don’t risk losing them in the black hole at the back of the pantry. So much better!!!
I love organizing. I feel like me watching this is the equivalent of when my husband watches football on TV. I'm not yelling at the screen, but I am definitely the armchair quarterback making suggestions I know you cannot hear. 😂 Also large clear bins definitely a great way to go! That's how most of my pantry is. I do not put cereal boxes in the bins, just next to!
I also could never keep my pantry organized, (30 years struggling) until I purchased large bins with basic labels, such as snacks, chips, coffee, baking, cookies, etc..Now my pantry stays very organized because everyone, husband and kids, know where to look and return items to. It’s been a game changer. I’m so happy!
I use clear Lucite lazy Susans with sides that are about 3 inches high. Contains my mixes etc. By category, and I don't have to lift a heavy bin; I just twirl to see what I need. I realize this takes a little more space than square/rectangular bins, but is so much easier for me to access. Love your pantry. Definite pantry envy.
Dawn is amazing. She is a fellow Minnesotan who has inspired me to reduce my inventory to more manageable levels and help me really put my mind in check for what is realistic in my life. And, also, it is okay to have sentimental and hobby things, but, use the containers to help determine the level of inventory. There will always be another sale, you CAN buy it again if/when you need something. Quarantining things, the recyclable donation bin .... All great ideas! I want to get to the paper clutter stuff taken care of ... But that will require lots more brain power than I currently have to tackle that project. Lol. I also have quickly learned what is realistic for me and that not every approach will work if Im not committed or just doesnt make sense to me. If it isnt easy to put away, then it wont get put away. I have 3 kids and 3 dogs so stuff is always everywhere too. And 3/5 of our family is ridiculously over the top lazy so anything to make my life easier to manage the house, the better. I have been at this since quarantine and have made significant progress in simplifying my house to more manageable pieces and actually keeping what I have worked on organized and sustainable. It has been a lot easier for me to focus on meal prep and schoolwork and work and just mindfulness in general and really give more clarity of mind to deal with my kids, husbands, and pets.
You might try labelling the shelves with each section so everyone in your house knows what each section is. It doesn't guarantee people will get things back where they should be, but it doesn't hurt!
My tip. Organize your pantry after one of your big grocery or Costco trips. That shows me what bins and space I need for everything. I used to buy too small bins and then overflow them when I restocked.
You inspired me! I have been sick of looking at my mess of a pantry, and had come to the same conclusion that I needed clear containers to see what I had. My WM didn't have the bins, but I was able to order them. LOVE THOSE BINS! They are a game changer for me. I also decided not to pull everything out at once like I used to because it was so overwhelming. I cook a lot from scratch as well, and the cute little containers don't cut it at my house. I need functional, not frufru. THANK YOU BUNCHES!! You have saved my sanity here in Arkansas. Love your channel! ❤️
Christine, I only have three adults in my home and my pantry shelves are a mess. I realized from your video that I need large, see-through bins with labels. I’m going to give them a try. 🥰
It is really nice that you reuse what you have instead of having to buy everything new. Also, I like that you give things to friends/neighbors instead of throwing it in the garbage. You do a great job.
Look into the Clutter Bug organizing styles. It sounds like you either need a different style of system or are cramming a lot into a small space. She says her house basically keeps itself tidy now that she's found what works.
@@haveyougotyourtowel Everyone has their own way of doing things. For me, it isn't clutter that's the issue, it's three toddlers lol. Anything that they see tends to get repositioned because 'I help too' haha. Thanks for the advice! 🙂
Christine! I literally just did the same basic thing for my mother's pantry yesterday. I even got the same bins from Walmart. Great minds think alike. ;) I really think it's going to be a game changer for my mom and for you too. I have a feeling you'll keep up with it quite well. Thanks for the video and cheers!
Everyone has different styles for their pantries, yours is practical and the clear bins work very well. Enjoyed watching this as you are you are using what works for your household. Well done, Diana NZ
I think the bins for nuts/flours/etc only really benefit if you are using them a lot and refilling them. For us it's honey nut cheerios, white rice, brown rice, black beans, kidney beans, goldfish, a big plastic container for granola bars, and a big plastic container for oatmeal. These are things we always have on hand and are using frequently. Otherwise it's large bins for almost everything.
Looks so nice!!! I think though that like with everything - you can’t just be one and done- it’s so normal to have to do maintenance maybe once a week where you find strays back to the bins.
These health bars you bought when you went on an overnight trip, and when you shopped you said”Well that looks good.” You were caught up in the moment. Spontaneous. Sharen
I think your more organized than you think - it is honestly a struggle when so many are in a household and putting things away haphazardly!! For the box in the box in the box 😊 I too keep my cereal in a large breakfast bin - but they get pulled from the box before going in the bin and a large clip is used to keep the bag closed. I no longer have to worry about finding empty boxes in the bin, just shreds in a bag buried at the bottom... but it does make for a faster run through of the bin to tidy it up and its super obvious when we are running out of cereal. I also have a baking bin, but its got all of the things I bake with regularly so I can just carry the whole bin over to the counter, use what I need and take the bin back.
Nice!! I've been watching Dawn's channel for a few weeks now since seeing you talk about her and WOW! My mindset has completely changed & we definitely are in the very messy & long middle of decluttering!
Great Job Christine. I love plastic storage boxes. I usually get as big as I can fit on the shelves and then add a cute label. I find it there's room in the box my husband can put things back in the right box. That's because he doesn't have to put it back tidily and can just drop it in.
I like big bins, the most organized pantry area I had was when I used crates.i bought pasta, one bin was not opened bags and another was this is what we are using so everyone know where to grab first. I put all my over stocked baking supplies in another and so on... It really worked for me and I then we moved so now I am trying to get back to that.much organization with what I have now. Good news is I have a basement now where I can store over flow but in totes to keep safe from bugs and mice.
I'm so glad I'm not the only one who is overwhelmed just looking at their pantry. I organize it for ooooohhhhhh how you say 2 days, then I get groceries, throw them in their, and it's all down hill from there. Oooooooh and I KNEW when you took the label off the container, I said "just stick it to your shirt!"
Those bins are gorgeous. I have the ugly wire shelves in my pantry. I use sweater boxes without lids on the shelves. They stick out over the edge of the shelf but still fit in the space - essentially allowing me room to cram more stuff into my tiny pantry.
Since I don't have a pantry, anyone's looks great to me! I have a small, multi-shelf rolling cart that I try to use as a quasi-pantry in addition to using my kitchen cabinets as my main food storage space. As far as Christine's pantry, I like the way she has categorized her items as it makes sense to her. I like the general categories she has but I think adding bigger labels that are more descriptive would help keeping things organized (examples: savory snscks, sweet snacks, Christine drinks, Dave/Christine energy bars, etc.). How long will it last? IF the kids and Dave help keep items in their designated spots, then a quick tidy up weekly or when putting groceries away should keep it that way.
Agreed on the pantry envy! I've also got a small rolling cart and one (yes, ONE) kitchen cupboard where I can store food, the only other cupboard holds all of my pots/pans/plates/bowls/mugs/glasses etc. Thus, I've allocated storage in all sorts of weird and wonderful places throughout the house including; the unit my tv sits on, under my bed, in my wardrobe, on a second hand shelf in my bedroom, and in the hollow arms of my armchair. A Christine style pantry would be the absolute jackpot for me 😂
So much better than the last attempt at organizing this space. How she categorized everything and the large tubs look like they will work so much better. Nicely done 😊
I like this way of organizing. One of the better ways you've done. I have 4 kids and it's a never ending battle to keep it organized. You've done well. 👍
Nicely done! I agree that a bit of progress is better than throwing in the towel. I am organizing areas of my home that have been neglected and feel a sense of accomplishment with every little bit that gets done.
How have I never thought of hanging up the lunch boxes?! 🤦 I've wasted an entire cupboard just for lunch boxes. Time to reorganize! Thanks for the inspiration!
There was a video you did Forever ago. The fridge reorganized where you used that clear long shelf for it. Our fridge messed up and our landlords gave us a crappy one to replace it. Broken sides and the shelves C ouldnt fit on the side so I took your idea to put them in the fridge to use for our sauces and stuff! You're an inspiration to help me with organizing and I love your channel! ❤
Love the clear bins easy to see things. Love this was realistic & you didn't spend a bunch so it looked perfect. I like watching these because organizing a small home is important to me & I always get ideas on what might work for us. Thank you
I bought those bins and made themed gifts in them for Christmas, ie baking bin, snack bin, etc. for my various family members. Love them for so many things! I’ve been healing from a broken leg for several months and appreciate my family putting things away, but probably won’t be able to find anything by the time I’m recovered. Lol!! Oh well, I’ll reorganize. 😊
Quick suggestion. Buy some pretty contact paper on Amazon and use it like a wallpaper at the back of your pantry. I swear, it’ll keep you motivated to keep your pantry neat and clean. I have a similar size pantry with double accordion doors that are open most of the time and get a lot of compliments! 😁
I did this, too, right after watching that specific Minimal Mom video! Added the same large bins with handles. Much easier for my kids to put things away.
When organizing an area try to start using the stuff up. Dont allow yourself to buy anything until it's gone like pasta, sauce, drink mixes and snacks. I live in my car so I have very little real estate for stuff. I also dont have a lot of money. So I now have all my food in a bin in the trunk. I have most of the snack food in large freezer ziplock bags. I pull out a little at a time.
One of the ways that I get storage containers is every few months I buy those GINORMOUS plastic containers of cheese balls. My son and I binge for a week, and then I just wash the containers and fill them with pasta, rice, salt, whatever. Since I am the only person who actually gets into my pantry, fridge and freezers, I can keep everything pretty well organized. The only cabinet that everyone else gets into is a big 'snack pantry', made from an old computer cabinet a friend gave me years ago. That's easy to reorganize when it gets chaotic. You have 6 people in your house, all athletes who are constantly having to refuel, so it is always going to be harder for you. I think you do pretty darn good.
Thks! My pantry is shallow and cannot hold big bins with heavy bottles....so I put heavy canned stuff on more sturdy shelves, and on risers so I can see how many of any one can of beans, tomato sauce, etc. I find organizer items at thrift stores also. I need to go thru stuff and give away what is not needed. I will review all that u shared to help me with my pantry. I enjoyed ur video!! Ahna
The best thing to keep things organized in pantry/kitchen is everything has a container of some kind and those containers should hold what you normally buy not the half empty. It works. Also if you don't put it way properly you leave it on the counter.
For me and what I like, all appliances would be on one shelf near bottom, baking stuff on one shelf at eye level, cans on one shelf. It just depends on what works for you and your family. I would definitely use baskets, because they contain like items and when the container is full, I know not to buy more.
I just did this very thing in my large pantry! If it makes you feel any better, I’m no expert either......but we amazingly took the very same approach!! Now I am trying to eat out of the pantry for a few months.....grocery bill should be ⬇️ for awhile!! Enjoyed this video! ~Charlotte
My pantry is tiny so i have to use small bins, the big ones just don't fit. That's actually my frog for today. So glad you posted this and helped me procrastinate just a little longer today.
I love how you're not "perfect". You're a normal person like the rest of us. When I see other pantry makeovers they all look soooo perfect and clean and tidy and neat. But let's be real here, who can keep that up for more than 2 days? I can't. So it's very nice and refreshing to see a real pantry. Greeting from germany!
Your drink section was my favorite declutter! I'm always a fan of taking items out of boxes and pkgs and organizing them in bins or containers. I'm not a freak about it, but I do it as much as I can.
I can't remember who said this... when doing your weekly menu shop at home first. I do this with everything gift wrapping, craft stuff, etc. Save money and gas! I liked your video!
Wow Christine! That looks so good! I’m really glad you recognize that it will just need regular maintenance each week, with having so many people go in & out of the pantry on a regular basis. Having the labels should help keep that to a minimum though :) And who cares if it doesn’t match! If it functions well for you that’s what matters most!
Christine, I think you did a great job on your pantry! Keeping like things together in larger bins seems to fit your personality. Go with it! :) I love that you used what your had as much as you could. That just makes sense. Great video!
Thanks for the inspiration to sort my kitchen too I just replicated some or my larger less often used kitchen appliances and it made a big difference in my space too .. Just a polite suggest when I lived in real old apartments with panties that were older and had yucky stained shelving I went to the dollar store and bought some rolls of matching contact paper and lined my shelves with it cheaper and easier than paint and no dry time .. plus some contact paper is so easy and has fun designs
Maybe try doing a quick organize of your pantry, like 5 minutes every week. Work it into your weekly clean… once you get into the habit you might actually enjoy tidying it… cause it’ll be easy! 😊 -Lindsay
Good job with sorting your shelves out. I find the big boxes work really well - I've only got 8 boxes which is probably not enough as I have to put things on top of the lids because of overflow. I must say it does make it easier to know what you already have, at least. I love trying to do freezer meal planning. I say trying because I keep forgetting what's in our freezer because it's not upright with draws like a fridge. I find it tricky trying to keep to the box system sometimes. It depends on what's on sale at the shops (new things keep popping up) and I go through phases with the kinds of things I cook. eg. during winter we tend to often have porridge for breakfast. So I have one box just full of oats that don't end up getting used during the summer (Maybe this will change since daycare released a chickpea, banana, choc chip and oat recipe I've been adapting into a chocolate brownie recipe).
Sometimes I get impractical during organization ..trying to do what worked for others and forgetting my family dynamics. Lol I love that you organized your pantry based on the number in family and still making it functional.
I’ve tried several bins over the years and recently found the same clear bins. I can only find 2 or 3 at a time but I snatch them all up. I use them everywhere. They really are multi-purpose! 😉
I have a bin for opened snacks that must be eaten first and another bin for unopened ones. If it were me, I'd corral all of the little packets and individual bags into a smaller box inside the bigger bin. Yes, box within a box within a box. LOL
"Oh My" This is the first time coming across your channel. I found you so entertaining!!!! Your just so real. Also, your funny naturally! Looks like I will be subscribing. Welcome to my life lol!
I was watching with captions and ot started captioning the song. I had to go back and listen to see that it wasn’t Christine singing a long song to her food 🤣“We do this every day and I’m so amazed by you, so hold me tight”
Switched to Nordic ware microwave popper last year for homemade popcorn will never go back.... melt some butter add some salt ... sooo good and cost saver too!
The struggle is real! Mine is a mess and there are only two of us! It is loosely organized but there is just too much stuff. We are trying to use as much of it all as possible before shopping for anything but fruit, veg (perishables). I can't even imagine managing 7 people in the household. You rock!
Stop saying you can’t organize! Now you are a pro...it looks so good now! Way to show some of Clutterbug’s and Dawn’s lessons inspire us! It’s one of those onion things...the last time you organized it was good, this time it’s great. I put my money on it lasting a loooong time.
I have added large clear drawers to the fridge, the pantry etc. Dump ad go, and don't buy more than fits in the CONTAINer. I think the bins you just added will improve things as they fit the size of your family better than the small ones. :)
Take the Clutter Bug quiz! You're definitely a macro organizer (big bins) and I think you prefer visual abundance (see all your items, clear bins).
That's what I was thinking too. She's a butterfly. Clear bins would have been better.

The heaviness of the condiment bin suggests it should be on a lower shelf or on the floor to prevent future problems.

Sometimes organization has to do with everyday life and having a “home” for everything. It doesn’t have to be pretty, but that it works for you.
Hi Christine! I made the cassoulet for July fourth. Amazing! So much flavor! Your simple recipes have deceptively complicated flavors.
Put the sweetener packets in a mason jar. I love using those for organizing.
I stopped to take a break from organizing my kitchen and look what I found. Inspiration to keep going
Ahna
Love it. This is how i store my things and when i bake i take the whole bin out so I don’t have to keep going to the pantry!
What a good idea! Ours are in two small cupboards, but maybe ones that need used up first could be in a basket in that cabinet.
Love those bins! Your pantry shelves didn't look deep enough for them to go vertically, then bam! They fit with room to spare. Pantry jelly!
I love using containers as a limit!
I just did this very thing in my large pantry! If it makes you feel any better, I’m no expert either......but we amazingly took the very same approach!! Now I am trying to eat out of the pantry for a few months.....grocery bill should be ⬇️ for awhile!! Enjoyed this video! ~Charlotte
You are doing well...looks good. The important part is you have food for your family.
Wow, I remember you buying the pumpkin spice toll House
Having the correct size of bins helps so much.
It looks good! I do like the new bins, maybe later on pick up a few more of the same ones, they fit your space perfectly.
As a mom of 5, I give your pantry a good week maybe 2. Hehehe. Thanks for the tips, loved the video.

this is the inspiration I needed to rearrange and organize my pantry!!
Great video. Looks so well organized. Love the tips. Glad you have all the space. 😍
I give about a week with kids in the pantry. Loved Dawn's mom redo pantry video. It was awesome.
Also ... Great progress on that pantry! Hopefully your kids will be able to utilize and follow the system more easily also
i loved the decluttering of your pantry. I actually added ingredients to my grocery shopping list from watching your video. I love your channel.
You rock!
Was just thinking I wish I had a new youtube video to watch, picked up my phone and saw this notification...perfect!
Stop saying you can’t organize! Now you are a pro...it looks so good now! Way to show some of Clutterbug’s and Dawn’s lessons inspire us! It’s one of those onion things...the last time you organized it was good, this time it’s great. I put my money on it lasting a loooong time.
What an awesome pantry cabinet!
Organizing your pantry it just feels amazing!
I have added large clear drawers to the fridge, the pantry etc. Dump ad go, and don't buy more than fits in the CONTAINer. I think the bins you just added will improve things as they fit the size of your family better than the small ones. :)
