    The question of "is capitalism out of control?" should have been obviously yes when someone somewhere decided that it's somehow ok to sell water. The number one thing humans will die without, and a free resource from the earth, being stolen by corporations like Nestle, especially from poorer countries/communities, and sold to us, including through our own taps in wealthy nations.

    • @wafflingmean4477
      @wafflingmean4477 2 дня назад +15

      Water should be free and food prices need to be controlled (perhaps even give every citizen a small allowance that can only be spent in supermarkets, enough to buy food to live off but obviously won't cut it if you get Uber Eats all the time). Otherwise it's literally a corporation saying "give me money or die".

    • @meaculpa6984
      @meaculpa6984 2 дня назад +6

      I think you are missing a lot of nuance here. I would not want free water because it would not be drinkable. Drinking water requires a lot of infrastructure and expertise. and while rain water is free, if you want clean, drinkable, parasite free water to come out of your tap when you turn on the faucet, somebody has to pay for that. it's not a small feat as any knowledge of the ancient world will tell you. Romans literally invested large portions of their wealth, man power and technology to bring water to their citizens. That having been said, the Romans were smart enough to build their cities and colonies where fresh water was readily available--this is one reason they never invaded the Sahara or the interior of the Arabian Peninsula. In the U.S., we have built whole cities in the middle of the desert and are watering everyone's yard with drinkable water. I really don't think the fountain at the Bellagio should run for free on tax dollars. Also little municipalities are balancing their budgets on their constituents water bills. And many farmers require mass quantities of water, and are already getting subsidies on your tax dollar. do you want to pay for their full water bills?

      Capitalism is DEFINITELY out of control.
      Right now,
      The top level scum are all hiding their wealth.
      If ANYTHING changes in the health insurance industry,
      It won't be until they've split up all the money, found some scapegoats, and covered their tracks.
      And then they'll move on to another industry,
      And they'll do it again,
      Because they will never stop,
      Until they ARE STOPPED.

    “Power depends ultimately on physical force. By teaching people that violence is wrong (except, of course, when the system itself uses violence via the police or the military), the system maintains its monopoly on physical force and thus keeps all power in its own hands.”
    “There is nothing wrong with violence in itself. In any particular case, whether violence is good or bad depends on how it is used and the purpose for which it is used.”
    Ted Kaczynski. Industrial Society and its future.
    Or to put it in the Bard’s words “there is nothing either good or bad but thinking makes it so”. Violence, in particular in America, is relative. An individual executing another individual is considered illegal and immoral. Yet if authority does it, it’s considered “right” hence why the death penalty still exists in a lot of states.
    Murder is defined as the unlawful killing of any person with an intention to kill or to cause grievous bodily harm to that person. Which obviously stalking and the shooting someone falls under. But I would argue that the CEO’s actions also fit that definition as his, like so many American health and insurance companies do. If you actively deny someone healthcare that can save their lives then you are effectively murdering them by proxy and in action. Sure he wasn’t walking up to every person his company denied a claim to and fired a bullet into them, but for all intents and purposes that’s what his companies denials have and continue to result in! Death.
    So on my opinion this CEO, was more of a mass murderer than Ted Bundy and no judge or jury or journalist had any problem seeing Ted Bundy executed. And he only killed around 30 people, thousands have died due to lack of healthcare because it’s not covered by insurance in the US, most preventable deaths. Sure the CEO wasn’t playing with the bodies, no he was worse.
    CEOs are more likely to be sociopaths than the average person. You would have to be to kill that many people.

      I mean, everyone could piss on Bin Laden all day, but if we count the death toll, I don't think even he can compete with how many people ended up dead for completely preventable medical issues due to their claims and treatments being denied by United Healthcare.
      Systemic elimination of people's lives is just on a different level

    "Left" and "Right" are terms used to control the discourse and in most usage doesn't even reflect individual or group proclivities needs or policy positions.
    The discourse of left and right is the managerial language of discourse control.
    If you must use the terms you should immediately problematise and then unpack and explain the terms usage.

    I grew up in a household of six with a yearly income of 8,000 a year and tbh, I kinda hate the middleclass for suddenly caring that they can't afford stuff... No one cared when it wasnt affecting the middle class. I hope it gets better for everyone but even when I was in school teachers would complain about their salary which was minimum, 20,000 a year, this was really annoying to hear being complained about when I was hyper aware of how trapped in poverty I am.
