      @seethemore6360 2 месяца назад +11

      It was more gritty, more unrefined. Now it feels like it’s so perfected, everyone is good everywhere whereas during this era you saw people with a less diverse skillset, which I think led to more brawls and wars. Also the fighters themselves were such characters back then, I enjoy their personalities much more than the fighters of today. Don’t get me wrong, I still watch almost every UFC event and I love mma regardless of the era, but man the 2000s were just incredible, especially PRIDE.

      @BrownBomber92181 I think they saw it, and that's exactly why they bought it out. Competing side by side while good for the sport, why on earth would ufc allow a competition when they could have a monopoly.

      @@BrownBomber92181 That's what happened? I seriously didn't know. Pride was the stuff! The fights were far more entertaining than UFC back then. UFC was mostly two guys crawling all over each other for most of the fights while commentators went into ecstasy while worshipping BJJ with seemingly neverending praises...until Chuck Liddel. Pride's fighers were practically superheroes with clearly different styles of striking and grappling. Fedor, Mirko, GoodridgeVanderlai, Rampage, the Predator, Charles Bennet was hilarious. There were even fun to watch losers like Bob Sapp, Butterbean, Yarborough. All UFC had back then was Liddel, and Ortiz.
