      @mrniceguy7168 5 месяцев назад +18

      Exciting fighters make exciting fights. The sport was even less technical years before this, with all kinds of mistakes made, and it was less exciting than this era.

    • @SPIDERM0OSE
      @SPIDERM0OSE 5 месяцев назад +26

      I hear what yer saying but have to ask what technique is commonly used today that wasn't commonly used in 07 that woulda prevented Overeem getting KOd in the same position by the same shot if both were at the same stage in their careers today ?
      In this fight I don't think technique is the issue, I think its the self belief of Shogun & the courage to take the risk of throwing the big shot.
      Perhaps contracted fighters, in particular contracted fighters to a particular promotion that monopolises the sport, have little or no incentive to go out there, take risks, n make wins happen ?

      @davidjones8043 5 месяцев назад +8

      @@kevthegoat8774as good as almost anyone. There's a LOT of skill in this fight. Being technical has little to do with making mistakes. It's weird to even say that tbh. This fight showed MMA fans at the time Shogun didn’t need the soccer kicks or stomps to knock fighters out.

      I think he was probably on steroids in PRIDE too. It was a lot easier to do it there (probably almost encouraged) as PRIDE wanted entertainment and wasnt as serious as the UFC (I prefered PRIDE)

    😮😮😮I've been a fan since forever... Really surprised I never saw this fight .The entire Rua Clan never dissapoints , All killers .
    On a mat or
    At the beach
    Rules or not , these men are true pioneers of MMA . Ninja alone has over 100 street scraps , mostly victorious. I'm going to watch it again , thanks for the post.
    Happy Holidays

    One of my all time favorite fighters that might be number one still. I loved him in Pride and he beat Alistair twice. Both fights he came back to win it as well. Awesome fighter and a legend along with so many others.

    é muito legal ver e rever a cena: O Shogun fica em pé esperando o momento certo, o tempo exato de DESCER A MARRETADA nos cónios do Overeem. E quando desce, o cara tipo, SAI DO AR GERAL !! Foi na ponta do queixo, certinho !

    Shame most fans only saw Shogun in the UFC. Don't get me wrong: still had a HOF-worthy career there, winning the belt and having those insane wars with Hendo. But Shogun was a different animal before he fucked up his knees, when he had quickness and athleticism.
