At least when Reid plays a Jund he doesn't pretend it's a completely different deck when in reality it's just the same exact shell as every other deck he plays with worse pay off cards. Jund is always Jund and that's what I appreciates about ya
I don't play modern, I don't like jund playstyle, but watching reid play jund is something else entirely! It just feels right! Love u reid!
Damn miss this guy on coverage with the CFB boys talking in the background. He has to be the most humble respectable guy in MTG... Tom Ross is classy AF too. Covid ruined the online viewing experience... twitch streaming etc is not the same as watching guys/pros like this live at an event.

Its almost worth it to lose to triple goblin guide, double charm just to see it happen. That was nuts.
After watching the last few boomer jund videos I do have to agree that the deck is pretty much unplayable at the moment in this iteration. I play with dark confidants and 4 ragavans and it actually does decent. Sold my seasoned pyros for 50 each, they just are not that good. When losing to green stompy, have to realize something has to change. And the best jund player ever is even piloting it, so not like Reid making misplays.

Tourach is also really good in the maindeck, dodges Teferi, Solitude, and Prismatic Ending
While I agree that the loss against Stompy was fun albeit cringy, I don't think it should be taken as an example of the deck's decline - a lot of Jund's removal is damage-based, and that just won't do against Galtha.
That being said, this iteration of Jund is comically underpowered and inefficient. Lurrus, Ragavan, Confidants and whatnot are the name of the game as of today - but then, why would you play it over Rakdos Rock?

2:17 Any consideration for Choke? It's more vulnerable as a permanent, but it's also something you can cascade into.
I think you mainly want the boils against the 4 color deck, which can answer choke with prismatic ending or bounce with teferi and then counter on the way down. With boil if they tap out their only possible answer is Force. Choke is better against W&6 though, and can be cascaded into.
The problem with Choke is that Wilderness Rec will still untap the lands at the endstep, so they kind of negate each other, but more Wilderness Recs will still be a problem.
@@ShamikShah It's just as easy to say that Boil is worse against Wrenn and Six. Choke also turns all future islands into Lotus Petals (harder to play around), and it requires the opponent to play specific removal that's otherwise bad or even dead against Jund.
Regardless, you're assuming Wilderness Reclamation is widely played, and even if it is, Choke still cuts a WR's player's mana in half (no natural untap), and Choke comes down a turn earlier, meaning WR might never see play under a Choke.

what are your thoughts on March of Wretched Sorrow? seems like an awesome card for jund no? good removal, scales with lategame, keeps you in the game with lifegain and a good way to just dump useless lategame discard spells for value no?

T2 play swiftspear + lava spike 4dmg. T3 play bolt + spike 6dmg. So only need to find 9 damage. Even less against bogles manabase. One eidolon off the top and bogles has hard time
@@einoseikkula1847 We are still talking about Round 1, game 2: Duke was stuck on 2 land for too long. He was drawing so many more cards. There is no comeback from that. :)

yes and no. he had some uncharacteristically bad misplays but i think jund is t2 at best right now

@@KingCosmo7 i used to love jund but even though i love abrupt decay, maelstrom pulse, assasins trophy etc, single target removal just isnt worth it in todays meta. so im more into grixis these days. playes very similar but blue just gives me more than green.
