What would you have in your studio if you could have anything??
peace and quiet
@@catman6089 I feel that.
Any outboard gear. Doing everything in the box right now
Yamaha hs8s with sub and Avantone CLAs 😍 anddddd a BIIIIIG SSL CONSOLE!!! and a Bunch of UADs 76 Comps im 15 and it’s crazy expensive! @andrew masters
A better monitor amplifier, a better microphone stand and some quiet time to work on songs.
this guy really perfected the 'studio' part of 'home studio.' it's insane.
Nice! Andrew - thank you for fearlessly promoting a home-based production studio. In school, I learned in a maxed-out SSL board, world-class live room, 21-racks-worth of outboard gear, and a 4-foot-tall patch bay, and that's all great - but - what really turned the lights on [for me] was visiting one of my professor's home studio. THIS is where the magic happens - where the majority of today's music [records] is born.
That studio it's just so cozy and comfy and I'm sure that it just relaxes you whether u throw a hit, recording, practicing, and even heaving a coffee a bear with friends, etc. Awesome. Congratulation!
Beautiful! Thanks for sharing!
Super nice. Vintage King is KING as well. Glad to see he is apart of the Adam Family as well lol
Sure is! Thanks for checking out the vid!
Yessssssssssssss. This room is killer. LOVE THE LOGO!
right? So cool.
I love your studio tour series! So fun an insightful seeing how different home studio owners operate!
Adriano Loparco thank you!
It is important to see how people route things and their trouble shooting results all broken down in a quick video. Thanks for this.
This is the most impressive setup yet. I can almost imagine the quality of the drums. Good chat on the compression gear as well.
This was really enjoyable...Josh comes across as a cool down to earth dude. Nice studio & some cool kit.
Couldn't agree more!
FREAKING JOSH COLBY!!!
beautiful space, great tour!
This is awesome Andrew! Thanks so much for doing these home studio tours!
Glad you like them! Something tells me there will be many more.
Definitely a beautiful space.
This is definitely one of my favorites.
Beautiful environment, congratulations.
Dude! Congrats to Josh!! Absolutely the most helpful person in making purchases (Vintage King) for my home studio.
Totally agree!
This is dope man...!! ❤️
This should be part of the 'Home Pro'' series of your channel..lol. Serious dedication, Josh.
AWESOME ROOM!!! Great tour!
Super nice! Thanks!
this home studio is fantastic man!
FANTASTIC STUDIO!!! :)
yes!
Love, love, love. Great video, thanks for sharing!
Chris Miller thanks! Glad you liked it.
@@AndrewMasters I've been having a hard time trying to figure out how to put together a good practice and recording space for my drums, so this certainly adds to the inspiration of your other vids 10 fold. It's hard to focus on playing when there's so much engineering that goes into a good recording space, it blows my mind what you guys have achieved.
This is literally a dream! I just showed it to my brother and he said "thats amazing! Knowing you, you'd never leave that room if you had a studio like that." Really great job on this man, I love it.
That’s great, thanks!
The Black thing on the bottom of the mini is the bluetooth/ wifi antenna
GREAT VIDEO Andrew thank you for sharing , Barry , Ireland
Thanks!
What a room!! Man if I had a room like that I would never leave it!
Right? It's so comfortable.
Look at the girth of those shells! That has to be 10 ply+ 20:32 that is PERFECT for tracking 💯
You can do the same thing as the presonus monitor station using a cheap mixer and using some creative routing you can have independent level control of different sources
Good call!
man dope set up
Beautiful!!
A lovely environment to create in 👍
I love your logo btw. Super nice!
Beautiful studio!
This is so epic!
That was really cool! Loved the drum room.
Thanks! Yeah it’s a sweet spot!
cool roll up desk . I had one identical as a child
Awesome bit of gear
me: oh wow ok i can get some tips on building my home studio
me, as soon as he starts talking about his rack: oh geez this is way above my level
you're killing it mannn.
Psh, not my room! I hope my next studio build can be something close to this!
Everyone has a home studio now. It's hard to impress anybody. However, this is pretty cool I have to admit.
The 72u7H for sure! He’s done a great job
I have one and I’m impressed!🤷🏻♂️🙏🏻
no way its always this clean
Amazing vid of ur studio, yo.
The best thing in that space is that guitar lamp! 🤣🙌🏾
great advice on the mac mini
Epic Setup
Josh is the man 👌
Love his set up... It's so nice!
❤️
Nice set up brother! Great job!
Thank you!
Thank you so much for asking the one question that NOBODY ever asks. What is the desk? It's such an important part of every setup!
Of course, I agree!
Fourth!
Yeeeesssssss!!!!!!
So to begin, thank you so much for traveling to these different fantastic studios and making these great tour videos!!! Second though would love it if you could get a lapel mic on the host. Just so we can have a constant audio during the tour. That's literally my only wish to make your videos over the top! Much thanks!
Bryan Campbell thanks! If you want to support the channel for new gear, you can at www.andrewmastersmusic.com/donate I do all of this by myself. Any support helps me make those upgrades!
Yeah Josh!!! 🔥🔥🔥
🤘🤘🤘
Bien very good..animo con todas las cosas y vayamos con alegrías..
¡Gracias por ver!
Loving these studio tours. Would love to also see some more on the minimalist / budget side.
Pedal Science thanks! Check out the tours of Cole Mcsween, and Ben Satterlee. Those are super minimalist!
@@AndrewMasters thanks
Beautiful studio, really dig the vibe. I would be happy with even less hardware but in that kind of room.
You and me both!
well done mate good stuff
Cheers!
You don’t wanna turn it upside down. Heat rises and the Mac mini is made to dissipate heat that way. Hence the metal casing. It has an internal fan that also routes out the back. I have a 2014 and a 2020 Mac mini.
Love the Manley Varimu... so beautiful. Miss working with one.
Totally agree.
Trident 80bs!!!!! I made a record on a Trident 80b desk here in Tucson several years ago. I fell in love with the pres and EQs. I recently found a great deal on a 16 channel Toft ATB and bought it mostly because of the EQs. I also bought a pair of the 500 series EQs to have if I just don't want to go through the desk. Such an underrated EQ. The 80b is probably one of my favorites! You can push the highs and they just get silkier and prettier instead of harsh! Arguably one the greatest EQs out there!!!
Nice work! I love tridents, I worked on an A-range for 5+ years. They're great.
@@AndrewMasters I own the Daking Mic Pre 2, which I believe is a "clone" of the A-Range. I love that mic pre! I have never had the privilege of recording on an A-Range, but boy what I absolutely love to!
I would always go for higher end monitors (5k and up) before investing in all that outboard gear and I’m glad I did
Looks like my dream studio!
You and me both!
That Ludwig snare might be a Super Sensitive
great video!
Thanks!
Bro thank u
you know to trust someones vibe when they have a Disney VHS collection, cozy nap vibes.
Great studio tour, thanks👌
Glad you enjoyed it!
That looks amazing!! I hope one day, I can build a sufficient studio!! I was learnt to use Cubase in high school here in uk from 11 to 16 but they limited us to only using midi classical instruments and pianos but I dream about working in a home studio of my own and using Universal Audio.. but anyhoo Thank you for these videos, they help me to keep dreaming and be more determined to achieve my goal!!
Love that! Keep at it!
Black Swamp Percussion is 15 miles aways from me . Also , Heyboer Transformers is probably 30 miles away.
Independent Drum Lab is in our area to, these guys make some killer snare drums and then some.
Great content, love the studio tours. Cheers from Michigan
That's sick, thanks man!
Nice! I’m originally from MI too, little north of Detroit. Loved to Nash back in 2011.
Hey dude, a friend introduced me to your channel a few months ago. I actually just moved to Nashville from Pittsburgh. I’ve been producing for 8 years but am currently doing everything in the box. I’d love to come by sometime and check out your studio. Or just get coffee sometime and chat music. Keep making these videos! Love them.
Luke Oxendale thanks dude, hit me up on instagram
Love it! Headed over to Reverb.com now to spend too much money on outboard gear because of this video... THANKS A LOT!
haha nice! Thanks
Great Video!!!!!! Rad Studio!!!!!
I met Josh @ VK a while back, super nice guy.
Thanks! Same here, he’s awesome.
I wrote in a very positive and friendly way. Maybe it is better to have a better translation of all of this!
Thanks Horst! I agree, I want to inspire more people to take their career and music into their own hands so they aren't tied to any one else or any other business. Cheers!
Great Room !
Agreed!
Awesome Studio ......... I've come to the realization as a RUclips guy I'll probably never have a studio of this caliber. Lately I've been doing everything in the box with plug ins. Sometimes I get pretty good recordings with Amp and Cab Sims but always have problems getting what I here out of Sonar.
Those old Yamaha speakers in the lounge are so awesome
yes! do you know the model maybe? anyone, please :)
Yamaha S0112T
I believe you can assign key strokes in Presonus Studio One to follow similar as ProTools, so no muscle memory loss. As for audiosuite or freezing you can do all sorts of quick bounce and multiple song versions within a song - so you can easily and always simply revert back to another version. I can't remember what is called in Version 5 but you could easily have different versions with out any more CPU usage. You should check out the new version 5 specs. EDITED: I think they are called Mixer Scenes.
I just looked it up and yes, key mapping available since at least 2018 for all major DAWS, so you can emulate ProTools without having to relearn anything or loose that muscle memory. Here's a link:
blog.presonus.com/index.php/2018/02/02/mapping-another-programs-shortcuts-studio-one/
😍
KeyStone badge for the ludwig!!
His studio is literally very cool
Agreed.
The UAOX changed my life!
GREAT VIDEO!
Thanks!
Very Very Cool 🤘🏾
Thanks!
Way to go for the seemless distrokid shout lol. Great content man!!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Amazing!! Love it!
Side note: I think Erick Valentine uses a pair os distressors on his drum bus. His mix bus I think it's the Undertone Unfairchild
I love that people who find my videos also love Eric Valentine, haha. He’s awesome.
He absolutely does.
Thank you for all the great studio tours. It's really fun to see what people are doing with their space and gear. I super appreciate it. I have a question. I have an Apollo X16. When you set up an ALT monitor send it routes through outputs 1 & 2. Are these outputs using different D/A converters than the monitor outputs? I'm not clear on why Josh is using the passive switcher.
Thanks again to both of you for this video.
I use the dedicated monitor outs to a passive switcher just to ensure the playback is the same across all my monitoring. The monitor outputs do spec a tad better than the line outputs on the x16. Also, it's easier this way to integrate a sub with both sets of monitors for me at least. Hope that helps!!
Amazing studio but the best thing I got out of this clip is turning my mac mini upside down :) Thank you!
As someone who recently got into 500 series, DO YOURSELF A FAVOR and pick up a Fredenstein Artistic Comp Plus. This thing KILLS snare drum, AND you can do parallel compression, for less than $300. I'm about to pick up a second one to see how good it sounds on overheads
That’s awesome, great price!
I went to go follow him on Instagram...and I was already following him!
Hahaha thx for reminding me for that like button, nice vid
Never seen Valentine use Distressors on his mix buss, seems like he always has them on the drum buss. Pretty sure the unfairchild is the go to every time now,. Great channel.
ahhhh I think you're right! I've watched too many of his videos. lol.
Andrew Masters same here, he’s incredible. Oh and ps, that Is totally an acro snare, old keystone badge. They are great.
I thought so!
no clue what they were talking about but they definitely know their business
"Yea I mean, I like them, they're great, they sound really good, it does what it needs to do, its awesome, they're really cool" .... i love watching dudes nerd out
I can confirm that flipping a 2018 MacMini upside down makes the wifi MUCH better. I had this issue in a multimedia installation project with 6 of those, and the only solution was to flip them.
Also, fantastic studio!
That was an Acrolite for sure.
I LIKE THAT SHIRT METALLICA RULES
Most of us build in the basement, but this looks like it’s in the attic.....interesting 🤔💪🏾💪🏾
Most homes don’t have a basement in TN, but wish I did!
Josh Colby It looks great regardless! 😁
Robb Vann Mann thank you!
Josh Colby No problem! 🤝😁
Josh is great!!
Agreed, I love his space.
RONNIE!!!!!!!!!!
@@VictorLee335 What's up man! Josh's studio is awesome. Good dude, too!
@@VictorLee335 Follow his instagram. It's great.
Great vid! I have bought all my new outboard gear from Vintage King. I use the Torpedo Studio like he uses the Ox, but I run stereo out into 2x Tonelux MP5A's. Works amazing. Sub'd! Maybe one day my little home studio will be vid worthy! LOL! Getting a lot of inspiration from this series.
That’s awesome dude, congrats
my moms wifi is horrible on her mini. gonna try. great vid!
If I could have anything I´d go for classic analog outboard equipment with a 32 ch. Soundcraft Ghost mixer and a 24 track R2R Studer or Lyrec Tape Recorder with good analog compressors combined with a modern day high performance DAW starting with a Ryzen or above CPU, 320 Gigs of ram and build from there,- the best sequencers and plugin suites: Cubase, Propellerhed Reason, Toontrack, Slate Digital, SLL, Waves and Neve etc. fronted by a suite of quality microphones in a couple of rooms purpose built for recording and mixing.
Ahhh,- yes,- a budget studio if ever I saw one..... :)
Thank you for your thoughtful comment! Lots of good ideas there :)
Very interesting! Did you use a soundcraft board in the past that made you want one?
@@AndrewMasters I am old enough to have been brought up as a musician during the late eighties and the nineties so I started out on analog equipment and later learned the binary stuff.
This means that when thinking of recording I will always think of the entire analog chain incl. a good quality mixer as the starting point for pro studios.
The Soundcraft Ghost was their pro entry level offering for pro studios and nowadys it´s affordable and still always just works,- so for me it´s a sure fire way to 32 quality preamps, semi parametric eqs and tons of routing possibilities for shaping the sound BEFORE you commit it to tape or onto a hard drive.
For me it simplifies the actual mixing and proccessing time spent afterwards when actually crafting the sonics of the song.
Here the modern DAW is a Godsend,- so best of both worlds.
Also the reason I became so fascinated with your channel,- all of the stuff I was still in a way learning was second nature to you, so I decided to return the "favour" by introducing you and Ariana to some music you probably didn´t know about.
A homemade sort of win/win.
