The best advantage of KSN channel videos is it's not only informative and educative for the marine people but also because of its simple language and exhaustive coverage gives a virtual tour with easy to understand language. I never feel like in the class taking lectures rather watching a documentary movie with a cup of tea. And most important - while we watch this seating with our family, they are struggling for life in the rough sea Thank you KCN
I remember that the Ships Captains Medical Guide was mainly illustrated with black and white photographs. The only section with colour photographs was that which concerned venereal diseases . Do not open it at these pages and place it on the mess table whilst your shipmates are eating, it may cause indigestion and nausea, personally I found it to be a great ice breaker for a junior deckhand newly arrived. The looks of shock and horror on their faces was a joy to see, rapidly followed by a dash to the heads and the sound of vomiting. Not seasickness, we were still alongside.
A total information about medical emergency in single video...the way you give information about each and every topic is perfect and clear.keep going on👍
Excellent explanation. If possible, explain burial at sea. I was on a gas tanker ( Maersk ) where we had to dispose of a motorman in the South Pacific ( 1979 ) 🚢
@@KaranvirSinghNayyar The Ships Captains Medical Guide carries in the pages at the back a list of funeral services for all the world's major religions in the sad event that someone dies and it is impractical to reach shore for a normal funeral. On a happier note it also gives advice on how to deliver a baby.
I'll never forget the time I got a *bad* toothache 45 years ago when I was in the US Navy. You're kinda' screwed when stuff like that happens to you out at sea.
Thank you for the knowledge you provide second ! This is very usefull , fingers crossed that everything goes as normal , safely and with out any injuries so that all of us go back home safe . As a Deck Cadet I found this video very helpfull , thank you .
Thank you so much for this post. I found this episode really interesting. A long long time ago, I was trying to obtain a position with the US Sealift command (a civilian branch of the US navy). Because I was already a Registered Nurse, I qualify as M.S.O. (medical service officer) with the US Coast Guard. Unfortunately, at the time the US merchant fleet was downsizing. Now positions were non-existent. Guess part of the reason for a small US merchant fleet is the regulation. Not sure, but I believe any US flag merchant ship is required to have an MSO with more than 12 crew. Please keep your post coming. It was my dream to be a merchant seaman. Living vicariously thru your post.
Please make a video on how do you cross International waters and do you face any difficulty with their Navy Force and international water laws it will be very interesting to know about this things. 😊
Coming home from college to watch another Fantastic 2/o KSN Vlogs worth knowledge ❤❤.. These videos are now like tutorial😂😂.. soon there will be a video on how to Navigate a ship for begginer series also..
I watched all of your videos and after watching I have a happy feeling, a feeling like I am there too. Thank you for sharing so much information with us, you are a good man and keep doing what you are doing, greater things are in store for you. I work on at sea for 15 years on a cruise ship and your videos take me back, thank you and take care of yourself
Really so much happy after watching the video and the kind of information he tells us for helping is just mind blowing 🥺🙏❤️... This person is like both combination of spirituality and educational perfect person.. We are so happy to have a personality like sir karanvir 🙏❤️
My uncle was a Navy Flight surgeon who rarely went to sea. Now, I understand what he did. He was the guy who communicated with the ship. Larger ships like aircraft carriers and distroyers have doctors on board. Shore personnel like my uncle have to serve on a ship early on so that they know what's going on there.
Very interesting video and very well explained. I hope you have not or only rarely been able to use the ship's hospital. Always stay safe and healthy. 🙏😊💙⚓
Great information and in good in depth knowledge. On cruise ships I occasionally see passengers leaving by pilot or Coast guard boats after illnesses. Never nice to see but good to know you have some training just in case.
I'm not sure if I am wrong or right, but the video quality in this clip significantly improved. Have you updated your equipment, or am I simply feeling that way? Nonetheless, great content as usual, and thanks for showcasing the splendour of the high seas.
Great, educational and very interesting video Karan. Thanks for your amazing videos, so relevant to those interested in working on a boat and interesting to us, your followers. ❤️
Hey Karan, I m so happy to gain more and more knowledge from you. But i have following questions 1. What if any crew had already got a medical degree before joining the ship? Will he be able to prescribe the medicine? 2. Is it allowed to take homoeopathic or ayurvedic medicines on board or does that need a prescription?
I truely love your videos! :) There are amazing, very professional and entertaining. I've learnt a lot from you! Thank you so much and I wish you the best for you and your family! Have a safe week!
The hardest part of the Merchant Marine has to be the isolation. You seem to work for a pretty good company that follows protocol and kits you out accordingly. Still have to think on your feet. But there is a good safety net. You imagine some of the bath tubs floating around under some flag of convenience. Tight wad owners that do the basics at best. As with most things in life chance plays a big part. Eg. A mate of mine had a major motorcycle crash. Head injuries and briefly died at the scene. The crash occurred in front of a big hospital. He was resussed. Treated. And came good. Almost anywhere else that crash happened and he wouldn't be here. And that is on land. At sea the time factor could be the biggest problem. How good are the Captain and first officer at the basics. Company facilities and reactions. The rest is luck.
Fantastic video. Q1. How often do mariners have to renew their first aid/fire fighting/survival certification and Q2. I am ex-military in UK we had to do regular practices for fire/medical emergency do you guys onboard do a training exercise to keep your skills fresh? Greg 🇬🇧
Hi K, Absolutely great to hear and see what the medical training entails onboard. Very similar to aviation, however we are also trained in full CPR and the use of defibrillator in case of heart attack patients. We also have a doctor available 24/7 based in the USA who can be contacted by us anywhere in the world and at any point in flight by radio. Obviously everyone hopes that the training will never be needed but it's good to know it's there and can be used in civilian life too. You did a great job with the video and explanations, well done and keep the vids coming, it's great to watch you.
I may be late compared to the video's release date, but on the bridge all the books are barred / blocked in to prevent them from falling out of the book shelf in rough seas. But not in the hospital room? Granted a lot of the stuff looks unsecured so my question is... How messy is that room after some rough seas to clean up?

One bit of advice: If youre pouring cremains over the side always make certain not to pour them out on the windward side.
