      1) talvez exista uma forma de fazê-lo sem usar peixe;

    The reason everybody kept saying 'notebook' when it was 'laptop' It's not because of a brand but it's because that's what we call it here. we call a 'laptop' a 'notebook'. A laptop here would be used to refer to a fake 'laptop' like a kid's toy.
    Also I don't think a macbook would be the first thing to mind when seeing a laptop since apple it's not that big in Brazil. At least not as big as in the US

    I don't usually comment, but overall I believe that only about 3-5% of the population can speak English fluently (and often have lived abroad). There are Brazilians who learn English without leaving the country, but they are also a very small portion of the population. English, being a Germanic language for Portuguese, which is a Latin language, requires a lot of study and memorization, which can take from 2 years for disciplined learners to even longer for those who are not serious. Obviously, it is easier for those who do an exchange or immigrate abroad.

      The number of German speakers in Brazil is more concentrated among descendants or people with some close German ancestry. The majority of these speakers are located in the southern region of the country. However, Brazilian Portuguese is the only official language spoken by 98% of the population. Only in isolated regions of the northern Amazon rainforest are native languages spoken. Interestingly, Portuguese speakers from Portugal often consider Brazilian Portuguese to be a dialect.

      @etanol. 4 месяца назад +7

      actually, more than 1/2 of Modern English vocabulary derives from Latin, and ModE also has significant grammatical divergences from Germanic languages. as a Brazilian myself, I found English to be naturally achievable due to the similarities between vocabulary, and a really decisive factor is how much exposed you are to the targeted language. when it comes to ModE, we are all exposed to it at some extent, and it might be through music, cinema, videos… so its classification as a Germanic language, doesn’t necessarily add up to the amount of work needed when learning it, coming from a Romance language background.

    I am 13, from Brazil, taught myself through 2020-2022, started an English course in 2022, hated it because I already knew everything, complained for 2 years, told my mom I already knew everything, she said I could stop the classes if I did a Cambridge Exam and got a certificate, did the leveling test, got 24/25 (96%, remember that), got C1 level, but because of my age the centre I was going to do the exam in put me on B2 first level, did the exam, got 183/190 WHICH MEANS I WAS C1 LEVEL THE WHOLE TIME, and do you know how much 183/190 is in percentage? 96%. So the leveling test was completely accurate, I was in C1, got the same score, but nobody believes me because I am a kid. But makes sense tho, I won’t judge them.

    It was interesting to see how Brazilians speak English and it was impressive. If I were there I would answer anything. I have a very extensive vocabulary and I know
    10 000 words, but sometimes there are some words I rarely use in my everyday life. Unfortunately I don’t have many people who can speak English with me and I am desperate cuz I want to make friends so they can speak only English with me.
    I don’t want everyone to speak my first language because it annoys me. My family always speaks Russian with me and no one speaks English with me. I don’t live in an English speaking country. I am bilingual and I speak two languages fluently. My studies were in English, but I only had online lectures cuz I was the only student from my faculty and others were Erasmus students from different countries, but I never met them cuz it all was online, so it was pretty boring. When I had French at my university, there was a girl from Italy, we communicated with each other and then she had to return to Italy at the end of her study semester in a foreign country. Anyway, it was great to meet someone. During online lectures I had to listen, but it also was good because it was a voluble info for me and I had good grades this year.
    I will defend my bachelor paper this summer, so and then afterwards I want to move to my homeland cuz I’ve been living in a foreign country for 22 years and life is bad now, but things will get better. I want to find a good job, earn a lot of money, find a good girlfriend and make reliable friends. Furthermore, I am interested in learning other languages and I know some basic Greek words and I have a conversational level in Spanish, but I want to improve my Spanish. I’ve been working as an English teacher since last year and I am happy to help someone with English. I have dreams and I’ll do anything to make my dreams come true.

    I'm Brazilian and I can tell you that those people in your video are priviledged and considered exceptions for being able to understand and speak English pretty well, even making some mistakes sometimes. If you go to a less wealthy neighborhood or to the suburbs of São Paulo, I'm quite sure that almost no one will barely understand you.

The 10% is the expressions, the phrasal verbs that i'm still learning till today, actually but it's understandable considering that there's LOTS AND LOTS of expressions and phrasal verbs in American english 😅😆

    Matthew é o típico camarada que aprendeu com jogos e o nome dele provavelmente é Matheus.
    Costumava dizer que meu nome era Andre (como Erik Andre) até me perguntarem "Did you said your name was Andre or Andreas?" so I explained that although I've always said it was Andre, that Andreas (greek root of the name, in case you're wonderding) is way closer to the portuguese and galician pronounciantion, which is André, more like an in-between both.
    So she said me I don't have to "translate" my name or its native syllable stresses when in another language. Nor just cause there would be no matching "translation" for every nut but also, despite Matthew and Matheus being an easier swap, not every Thiago/Tiago (which comes from Yakov) would want to swap to James or even Jacob.
    Since then, I'm André and everyone gets the accent right on first try.

    1. Here in Brasil, we learn that the laptop is called Notebook in english (even tho its not) and also we commonly use this name for it more then "computador", which is "computer". So its kinda a trick question
    2. In some places and some situations in Brasil, most people often call the trashcan ("lixeira") by the same name as the trash ("lixo")
    And thats just a few details from this video. So when it comes to learning a new lenguage things can be more complex than it appears.
