A-M Gutter Guards 15 months later - The Good & Bad

  • I have had A-M Gutter Guards on my house (and my father's house) for over 15 months - that's 1 year and 3+ months worth of use. My intent was to keep these on the gutters for the life of the gutter if they worked, but I also had in the back of my mind that LeafFilter was an option if I could ever afford them and if the A-M allowed sediment to build up over time.
Let me clarify one thing....I am VERY happy with these gutter guards, and for the price going up every few years to rinse under them isn't bad considering the constant battle with leaves before they were installed. As seen in this video, there are ZERO leaves in the gutters, so they definitely do their job. That said, my home is my largest investment, so I'm leaning towards the premium experience of LeafFilter.
Would I install A-M Gutter Guards again, absolutely! They shed leaves and don't overflow, so they're a great buy, IMO. Their only weakness, at least in my experience thus far, is they do allow some sediment to build up inside the gutter that over time will need addressing. Hence, my leaning towards LeafFilter, a product that won't let anything but water into the gutter.
What do you think? Do you only use the best on your house? Would you pick these based on what you've seen or would you to go for a more premium product that eliminates all intrusion (aside from water)?

I put gutter guards on last year, the same thing is under mine, but when I bought them, the guy told me once a year to run my hose in it to get the small sand and tiny sand like debris from the roof out down the drain pipes...

You are a champ Kev, over-pouring the gutter was my main concern as we have a standing seam metal roof & there is a LOT of flow during a good rain here in middle TN. Your 2 review videos on A-Ms product really helped. I won't be wasting any time with leaffilter, their cloak & dagger marketing strategy reminds me too much of anderson windows... they don't want to just tell you how much, they just want to impose upon you to offer time for their sales pitch. A-M is a GREAT value & juuuust fine for the job.

Good to know re: the gutter guards. Here in the N.E., I'm not sure any kind of gutter guard is a good idea because of our greater amount of snow/ice. Oh well, cleaning gutters is just a part of my life. Curious to hear about your roof resolution.

If you get leaf filter all that roof residue will be caked on the screen and blocking flow. Check out leaf filter reviews

Kev. That looks pretty good. If you don't clean it out every once in awhile it will turn to soil and start growing stuff. As you mentioned 😅

I'm considering these myself. Thanks for the videos. I hears bees and birds can get in Leaf filter. You might want to check that out.

I think you’re confusing LeafFilter with LeafGuard. LeadGuard had a large opening that allows birds and bees/wasps to build in. LeafFilter is fully sealed, so only water can get in
