I don't mind GWP sets until they come with exclusive parts/figures. There are many people who will want this Shuttle but won't be able to purchase the Enterprise on release, so scalpers are going to have a field day. It is cool to get Ro though. Fun fact, the producers on TNG were so impressed with Michelle Forbes they offered her a main cast part on DS9 and later Voyager. She turned down both because she wanted to pursue being a movie star.
Yup. Instead we got Kira Nerys (not a bad trade IMO) and Seska (not a good trade IMO). Though even funner fact, Ro Laren is brought to DS9 in the post-show novels to replace Odo, and in an interesting twist (spoilers ahead...) She and Quark become romantically entangled.
Gotta say, not fond of Lego's strategy of locking desirable themes and characters behind massive paywalls only affordable to adults with too much disposable income. I loved Lord of the Rings as a kid. Not being able to afford anything but a BrickHeadz set is just miserable. I'm sure the whales and people with the time, space, and money will love it though.
It’s true I’m an adult fan and think it’s ridiculous. Lord of the Rings is making a $100 set this year Gandalf Blarog bookends or something. Still not great it should have a range of sets akin to Harry Potter, Lego marvel.
This is what's pissing me off with Lego nowadays. Like they know there are tons of us fans who would love a whole line of Lord of the Rings sets or Star Trek sets at different sizes/prices. Instead they just give us one massive over sized over expensive set which will get them money from the whales. They know there are fans who are willing to pay $50/$100/$200 for sets but they don't give a damn about us. They'll just put it massive $400/$500 sets for the whales and nothing for us regular fans
Doesn’t help them look any better when you’re reminded that Lego owns Bricklink so all those scalpers and resellers are just making Lego even more money when these GWP’s release. They know what they’re doing and it’s scummy.
@@SafetyAlwayssOff It wouldn’t kill the scalper market, but Lego could put a serious dent in it just by restricting Bricklink sales a little bit . Disallow listing a set at anything above MSRP while the set is still in production and for, say, 1 year after retirement. If you have to sit on a set for a year in order to make a profit, scalping is a lot less attractive. Obviously, scalpers would just sell elsewhere - there’s still eBay and FB Marketplace and BrickOwl and wherever else, but it would take away the biggest, most active market.
Try to get the shuttle type 6 used on e-Bay. Preferably from Germany, that's where most of them were sold. Bluebrixx 104182. Minifigure size. Unfortunately the importer doesn't sell it anymore because they didn't renew the license, but the Star Trek stuff from them looks really good.
This is the type of thing that worried me when I heard Lego was getting the Star Trek license. You could tell BlueBrixx was passionate about Star Trek and wanted to do right by the fans. They put out sets of all different sizes from different series so everyone could get something. With Lego, the greed is so obvious when they do stuff like this or only put out one $500 set a year like for Lord of the Rings. Things like that is just them trying to make as much money from the whales instead of trying to make a line that can be appreciated by the entire fanbase. I miss the Lego of the 2010s when we'd get whole lines like Pirates of the Carribbean and Lord of the Rings with sets of all sizes
I'd rather the promo existed than not, because they can often be bought on the secondary market. Unfortunately, considering how popular Star Trek is, I do worry how expensive this GWP will be on the after-market. Maybe they shouldn't do GWPs for such popular sets that will sell-out in any case. Maybe only for sets that are still top tier but less likely to sell out on day one even without a GWP.
The El-Baz looks to be minifig scale, which is cool, but to do a true minifig scale Enterprise D would mean the set would be the size of a small car, have hundreds of thousands of pieces and a building instruction book the size of a library dictionary. I know, "what's the downside?", right? The set would also cost as much as a small car, if Lego's recent pricing tiers are anything to go by.
It's the same thing with a different name. You can't get the gift with purchase until you buy a minimum amount, which is the promo part, and the gift is free, which is the giveaway part.
I think exclusive gwp sets should be possibly in a special box or with a numbered brick or something similar then the set could be released in a month or so without the gwp brick to the general customers to purchase as a standard set, that way gwp recipients can feel just a little special but those who find the premium prices too high, can afford a small piece of the set they would love.
Awww of course they’d pull something like that. That Mimic from the DnD set had a “rerelease” for about a week and that caused extra drama on the lil official reviews for it on their site lol. It’s not cool at all, they know I *must* have that shuttle.
No lie they kinda missed the mark not including Transporter Chief O’Brien. Way more integral than Wesley crusher and went on to be part of the main cast on Deep Space Nine. Just me…lol
While I’m not a fan of products meant to create fear of missing out, I see why a company would do it. Because it works. And in this case, it’s very unlikely someone would want the shuttle and not want the main set, plus it looks like we have almost a whole year’s notice. So to me this one is a really sweet bonus for buying a set I absolutely wanted to begin with. Not really LEGO’s fault that people charge and pay absurd prices on eBay after the fact. This is all assuming LEGO does officially announce this well before the release.
LEGO's promos are frustrating at times, but I have found that if you wait a few months once the fervor dies down, many of the sets can be purchased for a reasonable cost on eBay. I suspect LEGO makes a lot and there are resellers who acquire high quantities, so there are ultimately enough to meet the demand.
i was expecting the giveaway being a shuttle, but i thought it might include wesley crusher, not ro larren. but i guess not including wes makes sense, since he was so universally hated.
This is, for me, one of the most annoying repeated moves from the LEGO team. It is well and truly an intentional move, holding smaller desirable sets and reserving them as “Free” items when you buy the $300+ set. Clearly a move that works though, and LEGO will see the $$$ numbers made from the Fell Beast and Forest Hideout sets in the aftermarket space like on Bricklink, in which they receive some revenue. Unfortunately a move that doesn’t seem to be leaving any time soon. Even Star Trek isn’t immune.
It's b.s. like the gwp for x-mansion went well before the window. Not everyone can buy the huge sets and not everyone lives close to a Lego store. My closest one is 300 miles away
I really don't like when Lego, releases a bonus set when buying a more expensive set, especially when that set turns out to be exclusive and short lived. They have been doing this with a few sets now, and it just feeds the scalpers pockets, I know, as some of the sets I really wanted were sold out within a few hours of release and by the time they came back, the bonus set was gone. Eiffel's apartment was one of those sets, and given how expensive that set was to buy. I really wish Lego would have given you the option of buying the promo separately as the Ebay prices were just ridiculous. The same goes for a few others like Shackleton's lifeboat, etc. Okay so the ship was nice, but the lifeboat was really good and worthy of being a set on its own. I understand that they do sets like this to promote sales of the larger sets, but at least allow fans of Lego to buy the promos at a reasonable price as it's a way for giving everyone a fair go. As for the latest Star trek promo (So Far only speculation here?), and if this is true, the figure will be released at a later stage, where as, the ship may not, though I sure someone will post the build instructions? Finally, as I'm of the older generation, I won't be buying it, but I look forward to its release. As for the promo, it should have been the Borg, and their recharging station, as that would have made more sense.
What gets me is the midnight release and then it's only available for a few hours. I am not a night person. Endurance was gone by 5 am. What the heck???
Thats why i said if they ever did a RX-78 Gundam set the G-Fighter would probs be a limited GWP thingy. Same with the CAS armors if they ever did a Liger Zero set. Shame too since it would be cool if they could release them as their own things. Either as a cheeper way for fans to get at least something from a rare colab or just so that theyre avalible longer. Especialy if they were to do something like the CAS armors and the Liger Zero given that the whole gimmick with the Liger Zero was the customize parts sets.
I've never understood why LEGO didn't have the free GWP and then a couple of months later, release it as a $20 set. The people who buy the super large expensive set get a cool freebie and the other people are forced to wait a couple of months but they can get the smaller set as well. It's not free for them but that's just fine. Why, LEGO, why?
I don’t mind the GWP concept with another figure, but the choice is way wrong. Should be someone like Q or a borg. Ensign Ro wasn’t even around for very long.
The torso would also be exclusive as nobody in the main set has a red female uniform. The hairpiece too if they want to include the earring? They might just print that on the head though.
It is kinda dumb this strategy because: 1) You are not gonna buy the Enterprise D because there is a shuttle for free, thoes who will buy it, will do if there is the shuttle or not. 2) This shuttle is payed for in Enterprise D set more or less anyways, as there is no such thing as free. Logo isnt losing money on this shuttle giving it away, but just slightly reduces the income. 3) Instead of selling this shuttle for like +-5 $ or so (dont know the price) and ppl could buy multiple for their Enterprises, or if they dont have a cash for it, just buy the shuttle, Lego decides to lose that money just because of stupid marketing campaign that wont have influenece on sales of a 300+ $ set anyways. 4) You put massive franchises behind a paywall that is so big, that most ppl wont buy it for their kids. So this means you have another set for adult's and you in 5-10-15 years of such campaigns you are slowly losing/lowering the number's of sets that kids get. You lower possible future clients and their kids (as these ppl wont have lego) 5) Even when somehow someone will buy some Lego sets from point nr 4 and they will become adults. It wont be like today, where we are buying used old sets, new remakes of them or new sets from old retired themes as of nostalgia and collection increase, since we had smaller sets as kids from these theme'a. Instead these ppl wont have these sets in their kid age, they wont have this nostalgia or collections to get upgraded. So you cut partly todays adult lego clientelle. Just overall by decision from my point of view.
YEAH!!! So excited for the shuttle giveaway. Absolutely NOT a disappointment. When I saw the title to this vid post I was so worried it was going to be something really bad as an announcement. I will be ready at midnight during the release. Backup plan is early AM at the lego store.
There would be no point in owning that particular shuttle and character without the main ship, so I honestly don't mind this. Definitely another point in the Trek column for which DTC set I get this year. Cant afford them all, but SO many of my fandoms are getting big sets this year.
If they did Q, then they could have used the Type-7 shuttle Sakharov from the episode Deja Q, which is a much nicer looking shuttle than the gross Type-15.
If it’s dropping in 9 months… I’d advise learning to save. I split the x-mansion payment over 3 months with PayPal, you could easily put away a good chunk of the cost in better part of a year. The free gift is an incentive to juice the numbers pre xmas, I get it. But ultimately you have a choice, get ready now or miss out.
I swear I was going to predict on the original Star Trek leak video that I bet they will add a GWP as the shuttle craft! 😅 Since Ensign Ro is in this set I think it would be the more streamlined Next Generation shuttle craft version, not the one on this video. I do want this set so I’m happy for this news.
@ I mean I’m not a Star Trek fan but it would be pretty cool to make your own enterprise the same with a modular Death Star for Star Wars they are doing it for Harry Potter x
@fascinatingfaux811 the alternate build excites me more, since there are a fair amount of left over pieces that can make pods to fit on the back of the main model. I might even use the arched canopy to make it more like the original cockpit. But I too am trained to wait for a suitable GWP
It’s not a big deal. If you can’t afford the Enterprise, then it’s no big deal. Limited stuff is what makes collecting fun. It’s not my fault some asshat flips stuff on eBay. When the ship comes out, then I’m grabbing it. I’ll do the 4 payment plan I always do. I have a great job and can afford it, but I’m not dropping one lump sum to get it. There’s a lot of ways to get the expensive stuff. Getting a good job helps. lol. I like these types of sets. It’s better than the polybags that they hand out that you can get for free with purchase any time after the promo is over. And if you’re buying the ship just to get the shuttle craft, then that’s a dumb decision on whoever does that. Buying the Enterprise brings the incentive of getting a shuttle at no additional cost. I don’t see an issue with it. Not everyone has to have one, and I’m sure LEGO knows that there’s a big chance a shuttle would collect dust on the shelf. Honestly, I don’t think this will do anywhere near as well as Star Wars, so creating a set only a Star Trek fan who’s hesitant about dropping a load on a big ship is a good thing.
Didn't get the GWP for the Endurance due to a system error on Lego's side :( This time however I will go to the Lego store and get it first thing in the morning. My girlfriend is a big time Trekkie 🖖🏼 so this set has to be in our house. For the GWP shuttle well yeah it could be nicer if it was a for sale set for some people indeed, but seeing that the set is only coming out in November the amount could be saved up for (as I am doing) anyway looking forward to the set 🖖🏼 Greetings from the Netherlands 🖖🏼
Definitely a day one buy for me, and also my girlfriend. So to me this is a big bonus. Coner Kiosk was a good GWP that I just built... But I have missed so many others that it is almost a crime for the prices people ask for them after the fact. I just like the builds...😅😊
I understand that this might have been a No-go for some but you could have get the Enterprise D and also the corresponding shuttle from BlueBrixx until recently (no stickers, all prints). There were also mini figures for a very short amount of time. The Enterprise D was 200EUR, the shuttle was 40EUR but after BlueBrixx lost the Star Trek license to Lego there were huge discounts (like 70EUR for the Enterprise D). Unfortunately, all major Star Trek sets are sold out now (exception: DS9 station) and the prices on the second market (like eBay) go through the roof. In my opinion, moving the Star Trek license from BlueBrixx to Lego was a bad decision for all the Trekkies. Over the last years, BlueBrixx released dozens of Star Trek sets in all sizes and how many sets will Lego release in the near future: Two? 😭
This is BS, we finally get Star trek (only the enterprise D for some frickin reason) and they're pulling this same schtick. They need to realize that if they were to sell this like a month after the initial giveaway and sell it for like $20 theyd make serious bank with star trek fans.
Not going to lose sleep over it. I love star trek, but if lego doesn't want to sell it independently, im okay. Money is going to be tight in 2025...ill spend mine elsewhere.
Calm down people. It's a smaller version of a shuttle that they will make later with one of the worst characters from the series. Be happy it wasn't one of the main characters. The GWPs are designed to get people to buy day one and it works. If you truly want it and it's such a big deal then start saving for it and quit 😢 about it.
If you cant save 30$ a month for 10 months then you've got more problems then trying to buy lego my friend. most min. wage jobs will get you that in 2 hours.
It's amazing that some people still haven't figured out capitalism. Exclusive figs and sets are a good thing for fans, collectors and Lego as a whole. It bolsters the theme and brings excitement it also makes the sets and Minifigures more valuable and desirable.and in turn that Is good for Lego and consumers. Is your favorite fig a common fig that was in 4 sets or a rare valuable one ? Life isnt fair and not everybody gets one of everything but when you work hard or set a goal to achieve or get something it makes it that much sweeter etc..
Very silly they should have started with the first StarTrek then the rest just one set of the original to get it started . Very silly and I’m not sold and I’m a mega fan of Lego and if StarTrek I’m not impressed but most likely will pick it up second hand opened while it’s still selling etc etc
Not excited at all...I was never a fan of TNG, grew up on the original Trek. I guess I will be saving my Black Friday money for the big Star Wars build this year.
That giveaway only exists to make people buy that most likely not so good enterprise d set (compared to the bluebrixx one) for that way to high list price! And because we only got the enterprise d leaked and nothing else i am sure we will se nothing more than that on ship and the tiny shuttle because LEGO most likely only bought the license because it worked so well for bluebrixx and not because they wanted to make nice ships themselves. Also I’m really sure that the wouldn’t even made one set if they don’t had to for buying the license. So Star Trek was doomed to be a disaster for LEGO from the first moment on because of there focus on taking away that license from bluebrixx instead of having a plan to make it better then bluebrixx.
Well, you asked for my comment: Please stop your whining. It is what it is. The whole LOTR whining is crass. Look at the sets we are getting! Lego do the GWP's to boost their flagship releases and flagging profits in a tumultuous world. Just look at the big picture please, and suck it up.
Show Lego with your wallet how absolutely great you think this move is. Or stop whinging and take out a loan and buy that plastic whose weight is weighed in gold just because it says Star Trek on it (and LEGO!). Be a good fan and buy everything. The Lego Group only just made a net profit of 2 billion in 2024. That's barely gnawing at the starvation towel. So please buy. Buy everything.
Lego, creating scalping since 2015. Bluebrixx was going to release all main star trek casts in there minifig scale in small sets that everybody could have afforded, but then comes the giant woke moneyhungry overhyped company with it's fanatic single minded fanboys and everything goes to hell......
I'm so sad, that BlueBrixx' license for Star Trek wasn't renewed. Their sets are pretty awesome, but they're pretty much all sold out by now. So if you want them, you'd have to get them from a reseller.
Unpopular opinion, but I like having exclusive GWPs. It makes collecting fun. IPs should be accessible but not everything should be. That's part of what makes any of these collecting hobbies endure.
"only available for like 2 or 3 days"
More like 2 or 3 hours. Maybe 2 or 3 minutes

Lego is supposed to be family friendly but they are not when they do such a limited number of BWP as it causes panic buying
There's some really good sets on Blue Brixx nowadays.
Stupid me already thinking, 300$ for Black Friday? I'd buy that. 🙄
There would be no point in owning that particular shuttle and character without the main ship, so I honestly don't mind this. Definitely another point in the Trek column for which DTC set I get this year. Cant afford them all, but SO many of my fandoms are getting big sets this year.
For gods sake, Lego, Im a doctor not a millionaire
Why Ensign Ro. Should have been Q. I like the promos. The sets are expensive and this is a great way to get something cool with your purchase
If they did Q, then they could have used the Type-7 shuttle Sakharov from the episode Deja Q, which is a much nicer looking shuttle than the gross Type-15.
Awesome video just2good
I could have bought it
But with the added signature that set might sell out before I could even search for it when the sales drop
Fuck this is why some brands die fast, get an expensive set and nothing for people who can’t afford it… if the 1st time license Lego product
Now I carnt wait for th3 Star Trek promo awesome carnt wait for the Star Trek set on Black Friday
Couldn’t they do a few modular Star Trek sets to build the ship
kitbashing? that would be pretty cool.
@ I mean I’m not a Star Trek fan but it would be pretty cool to make your own enterprise the same with a modular Death Star for Star Wars they are doing it for Harry Potter x
It's too bad we don't get an echalon class for her to ram in the necelle
This is why I’m not getting the Blacktron Renegade this month. I’m worried that if I do, LEGO will announce a Futuron or Space Police GWP.
In that case I’d buy a second Blacktron Renegade (was already thinking about it) as it’s a SUPER GOOD SET and has an alternate build.
@fascinatingfaux811 the alternate build excites me more, since there are a fair amount of left over pieces that can make pods to fit on the back of the main model. I might even use the arched canopy to make it more like the original cockpit. But I too am trained to wait for a suitable GWP
I'm completely @#$%ING tired of Star Trek doing this to Ro. That episode of Picard was already past the line.
Fomo works and it wont go away regardless of how shitty it is!
Didn't get the GWP for the Endurance due to a system error on Lego's side :( This time however I will go to the Lego store and get it first thing in the morning. My girlfriend is a big time Trekkie 🖖🏼 so this set has to be in our house. For the GWP shuttle well yeah it could be nicer if it was a for sale set for some people indeed, but seeing that the set is only coming out in November the amount could be saved up for (as I am doing) anyway looking forward to the set 🖖🏼
Greetings from the Netherlands 🖖🏼
Well this is real. This Truly Disappointment🙏
My opinion is that GWP should just be a standard set too. That way those with a lower budget could still get something.
yep
Lego better give her the bajoran Nose krinkle, either way I'm buying the second it releases to try and get that promo
Sci-fi version of Shackleton's lifeboat.
lol fr
If you want 1st LEGO Star Trek set - PLEASE start collect money today! BUY product DAY 1 to get GWP!
Why lego why stop with the gwps already its 2025 for crying out loud
Gwp aren’t a problem, the problem is they keep making them exclusive to gwp
bring back the 50$ dollar spend parts packs...
Wait, there have been Lego and/or Lego knockoff ST sets? Can someone fill me in on what’s been released?
Ensign Ro? Couldn't they find a more obscure character?
Words cannot begin to voice my disappointment and frustration with hearing this
I mean I'm glad it's a shuttle design I don't like that much but damn Ro is one of my favourite Star Trek characters 😔
I just want my Lego Enterprise D!!
why the Lego Part Number couldn't be "101701"? 🖖
Tasha Yar would've been a better fig.
This is BS, we finally get Star trek (only the enterprise D for some frickin reason) and they're pulling this same schtick. They need to realize that if they were to sell this like a month after the initial giveaway and sell it for like $20 theyd make serious bank with star trek fans.
idk why I thought that was a new sigfig in the thumbnail lol
LOL
Not going to lose sleep over it. I love star trek, but if lego doesn't want to sell it independently, im okay. Money is going to be tight in 2025...ill spend mine elsewhere.
Calm down people. It's a smaller version of a shuttle that they will make later with one of the worst characters from the series. Be happy it wasn't one of the main characters. The GWPs are designed to get people to buy day one and it works. If you truly want it and it's such a big deal then start saving for it and quit 😢 about it.
Definitely have to disagree with you. I love these exclusive gift with purchases. This new Star Trek promotion is A+.
glad ya do! to each their ownnn 😄
Seeing the price he’ll no
It's not the black Friday set
oh? :o
Very silly they should have started with the first StarTrek then the rest just one set of the original to get it started . Very silly and I’m not sold and I’m a mega fan of Lego and if StarTrek I’m not impressed but most likely will pick it up second hand opened while it’s still selling etc etc
I want voyager
this is why I quit buying lego. I just get a clone or rebtick it from other brands. the shuttle als giveaway is super disappointing
Awesome
Oh Lego *sighs*
I want it though❤
Sick
I'm so sad, that BlueBrixx' license for Star Trek wasn't renewed. Their sets are pretty awesome, but they're pretty much all sold out by now. So if you want them, you'd have to get them from a reseller.
Unpopular opinion, but I like having exclusive GWPs. It makes collecting fun. IPs should be accessible but not everything should be. That's part of what makes any of these collecting hobbies endure.
Lego is a building toy.
to each their own! glad someone enjoys em:)
@@piotr78 breaking news!
Ugh I hate that
You, giving people advice? How about nothing instead?
I think the same
Eh, I don't really like Star Trek anyway.
