A truly epic video guys! So happy that you found a place that you love so much. I think that we all need some time to reset from time to time and why not do it in a place that you really enjoy? We hope that you continue have a great time as you continue your amazing journey around the world. Best J&J
Matt and Amy, I am so pleased that you enjoyed our country and its fairest Cape so much. It truly is a special country, despite its utterly corrupt and inept government. But her people are wonderful and resilient. May we prevail against the ravages of the ANC, because we love South Africa so much. Thank you for the great portrayal of a beautiful place that I am proud to call home.
The more you drink of Africa's water the harder it is to leave ☺ Glad you're enjoying your stay and your positive approach has smething to do with it I'm sure 👍
What a great video! Thank you for your wonderful words about our beautiful Cape Town area. Great seeing it through your eyes. Your videography is top class. This is by far the best sailing channel.
As an old sailor , I was very impressed with the young lady recognizing and even knowing about katabatic winds as a factor in sloped nearshore instances . What a wonderful shipmate to have aboard any other considerations aside . I also appreciate about how the channel is more about the sailing experience and less about the ' Look at Me !'
True. Cape Town and hout bay etc is idyllic. I feel in my element there, though I spend years overseas, I miss home. The place I'm in love with...where I'll settle down too.
Really lovely of the Yacht club to be so welcoming and make you feel so at home. I remember reading that the Cape of Good Hope was a place Royal Navy Frigate Captains used to rest their sailors and help them recover their health and recuperate. Seems it still works :-)!
I am really so glad that both of you had the opportunity to discovered a little bit of our paradise. Your Video shows everyone why South Africans and Tourists just love the South African Cape Province.. And what makes it even more special is that the exchange rates work in the Tourists favour. Which give the holiday maker the opportunity to see and taste the best that South Africa has to offer.. Come Back Soon...
What an awesome video, one trends to forget how uniquely homely Cape Town is. Thank you for the reminder. After living almost 50 years in Cape Town (false bay side) I have yet to find a more beautiful place to call home and return to. As a kid I swam at Boulders beach and can honestly say the colony has grown exponentially the now closed foxy beach (where the penguins are full up) used to be where we played in the waves. Cape Town and it's people are unique and awesome. PS don't forget the awesome fish and chips at Snookies and fish on the rocks, also the Hout bay market is awesome. Enjoy.
Lovely cinematography, both. Great that you find another place you could call home in the future maybe. Start safe and we look forward to your next video.
Fabulous that you have been made welcome in Hout Bay. One design racing is such fun, as you say it's about the skill of the team. After testing times in recent years, it's great to hear you are enjoying life there.
Funny how RUclipss algorithm tours you around. As a result, I haven't seen any of your videos for awhile and I really missed you! You live the dream I had many, many years ago. And with such enthusiasm and true enjoyment. So glad to see you again.
Wow what an awesome video. That absolutely fantastic landscape that you show on it, I dare to say I am pretty sure you cant find it nowhere else in this world. The sights as you glaze from the creeks and cliffs surrounding that area are breathtaking. I agree, Hout Bay is a beautiful place, not only to visit but to live in and why not settle there. No wonder you chose to stay there for much longer than what initially planned. I never thought the neighbouring areas of Cape Town were that beautiful, I can truly say I am infatuated with that place and the beauty of its surrounding nature. I wish you a safe trip back home as you cross the atlantic ocean on your Florence, thank you for that outstanding video, a bear hug for both of you, I hope you enjoy the rest of your stay in the area. I love you guys.
I live in Gansbaai which is up the coast from where you are now and it is so refreshing to hear you describe and enjoy our country. It gives me new appreciation and perspective and the negativity from the issues we have here is instead replaced with gratitude. You guys should stay....or at least come back. Being so far South from all the crap going on in Europe may not be such a bad idea!
Excellent episode! Those penguins…. I get it! And scratching the racing itch! And then for the denouement a Golf I to explore in! Looks sublime!!! Fair winds and following seas!
For someone who was unsure when diving, you definitely jumped into the deep end. I’ve watched enough shark weeks to know that’s likely the most sketchiest waters you can dive in( and you didn’t even mention it!). Congratulations on making such great memories at such a young age. Inspiring I’m sure for all the other young people out there. Cheers from 🇨🇦
Ah man, this is my favourite of all your episodes! I’m a Saffa who has lived in the UK for 21 years and although I never lived in the Cape but hailed from JHB, the Cape is where my heart calls home. Particularly Hout Bay. My souls just absorbed the beauty, the wildness and the absolute magic. Thank you so much.
Ha ha. My home town. Now staying in Blighty , my wife insisted. So its Kings Lynn versus CT. Oh dear. Glad you agree that its probably one of the best places you have visited.
Beautiful video, so glad you are enjoying Hout Bay and surroundings so much. Most visitors always find S. Africa so special. Hope you can stay quite a time its worth it.
So happy to hear that you find the Fairest Cape so good. It's my old stomping ground and I miss it terribly, so it's fab to experience it through your eyes.
Funny you guys feeling at home in South Africa, it's the 1st place you have have been to, that I've been as well, and I still want to go back. We visited Hout Bay and went tuna waiting, not fishing we just waited. This was 6 years ago, If you travel North about an hour there is a lovely town called Franschhoek, some friends I met live there, try and visit it is heaven. Thanks for sharing your experiences and emotions. Regards from NE Scotland.
My husband got stuck in Port Owen and got a job when he was sailing round the world and stayed a year. Later I met him in uk and we sailed back out there and stayed! Super place and lovely people.
HI Amy and Matt! What a stunning video. Your video and drone skills are top notch beautiful. I am so glad I found your channel and look forward to every video. Take care!!
Gosh! Diving with seals is a riot. I do remember diving Scapa Flow in winter and having as much more fun with the seals than what those incredible wrecks provided in dry suits.
Amy, you need to find the answer to the question "do penguins have knees" if you don't already know, it explains a fair bit about why they move the way they do on land.
Looks like Hout Bay has captured your hearts and I can see why from this wonderful video. Spectacular nature everywhere and the penguins were so much fun to watch. I remember visiting a penguin exhibit at the Shedd Aquarium in Chicago and you definitely could smell them before you saw them ! Your bi-weekly videos are a real treat to watch. Thank you for all the time you invest in planning, shooting and editing these superb productions!
I completely understand where your coming from, I lived in camps bay for 12 months when I was 10, I still have extremely fond memories of the area, it’s the one place I really want to return to
Awesome episode ! So glad you are enjoying my country and especially my favourite part of it. Yep, South African hospitality always has been legendary and I'm glad to see it's still being practiced. My favourite part of the country never disappoints and it's seduced many with its charms, including me.
Yip, Hout bay is just awesome, such a friendly club, great marina, very reasonably priced and a whole bunch of fun, easy access into Cape Town proper via MyCiti busses and just such a beautiful place, welcome to the Republic of Hout Bay, I really regret leaving there, but I'll be back for sure en route to the Caribbean
Great video guys. Pleased you have found somewhere to call home for a while. It’s pretty clear to see why you love it so much. Look forward to seeing the rest of your stay. Thanks again.
Oh My Nauticals, this wonderful episode has really solidified my love for a place I have never been, but have always wanted to go. From when I was young and learned of this place, a place named Cape Town, I thought that sounded so cool that I have been itching to visit there ever since. After hearing you planned 1 but ended up at 3 months and found it hard to want to leave, well, my planned 1 year, might be impossible to leave. Looking forward to your next episode, thank you.
almost like sv delos that arrived in cape town, stayed for a whole summer, changed their plans to cross the Atlantic and decided do another trip around Madagascar just so that they can spend a 2nd summer in cape town.
You packed a lot into a little video! Really captured the beauty of the area too. It came so close to catching us for a whole year, but barely able to let the wanderlust win
Another exceptionally produced video. I’m now adding Hout Bay to my list. Which gets longer every time I watch an episode. You manage to capture each destination so beautifully. Thank you for opening my eyes to Hout Bay and Cape Town. Matt your Scuba Driving had come a very long way since you first learnt back in West Sumatra. 👏👏
What a beautiful place to get stuck, I don't blame ya'll to explore, I never thought they still had seals, great camera work Amy keep enjoying yourselves great video 👍
Always love the way you describe the places and experiences from around the world but this one chapter of your life you shared really is special ... just like the place you were "stuck" in - thank you !
Just a fantastic video! So well produced and filmed. I feel the same way about where I live in Coronado, California. This part of south Africa must truly be wonderful. Thank you so much for sharing your adventure.
Another great episode! I am not surprised that you are staying there for a while. Cape Town and the surrounding area is incredible. Watching this makes me want to return. The seals and penguins were incredible. I look forward to your next episode!l
Hi Amy and Matt. Thank you for another very well done video. You are creating wonderful, enduring memories for yourselves. It's great to see a young couple living their dream. Thank you for sharing. AL. Vancouver, Canada.
I had a suspicion you two were "stuck" there of your own volition. 🙂 I can think of a lot worse places you could be stuck at with the way the world is going at the moment. May want to consider taking a year off and hanging out in South Africa for a while. You certainly put in a great deal of time and effort to get there. Good Luck. Thanks for the video. Fair winds and following seas. Sail On!
My thoughts exactly, no doubt being relatively close to the end of your voyage and back in the UK, your minds must be wondering what are we going back to. Yes, friends and family, ofcourse but perhaps little else. Best wishes whatever your plans are. From an ancient circumnavigator.
Thanks :-). The water temperature definitely discouraged any swimming. Apart from the swim with the seals and a few required swims to perform underwater maintenance on Florence we stayed out of the water!

@Sailing Yacht Florence, thank you for the beautiful words about my city and for showing of it's beauty. I hope you continue to enjoy stay.
Hey Kids! There are about 450 sailing videos out there and your presentations are by far the most outstanding. Fair winds, Kids!
Adventures of an Old Seadog is also very good .
Kids ? lol 👍❤️😀
I am so glad you are enjoying my country! Sorry you missed Knysna, you would have loved that as well!

Retired and "stuck" in Thailand, you make me want to go back to my beautiful country! Stunning video!
So happy you enjoyed it guys, we south Africans feel the same, except for our government and the state the country is in
Well said!! 🇿🇦
That’s a shame I hope South Africa can get it together
True. Cape Town and hout bay etc is idyllic. I feel in my element there, though I spend years overseas, I miss home. The place I'm in love with...where I'll settle down too.

Just so beautiful, what an amazing looking place. Thanks again for taking us with you.
Really lovely of the Yacht club to be so welcoming and make you feel so at home. I remember reading that the Cape of Good Hope was a place Royal Navy Frigate Captains used to rest their sailors and help them recover their health and recuperate. Seems it still works :-)!

I feel the same. I left Cape Town 30 years ago and I get terribly homesick watching your videos and hearing how you’ve fallen in love with the Cape!!
What a Beautiful place that is, 😍 Yes, sometimes you run upon places you Just Heve to stay at, at least for while.😎👍✅

Once again thank you so much for sharing your incredible journey from a very cold and wet Peak District here in the uk.
Summer is on its way to the UK as winter returns here in southern Africa. We loved hiking in the peak district on our summer holidays.

I used to love doing that hike, when I lived in CT, it blows your mind how encompassing the whole vista is.
Totally enjoy your channel amongst many I watch. Keep it up and fair winds.

Thanks :-). The water temperature definitely discouraged any swimming. Apart from the swim with the seals and a few required swims to perform underwater maintenance on Florence we stayed out of the water!
luckily for us south africans, we have got a whole other coast with lovely warm indian ocean water
