Marvelous. Having the patience of a saint helps you a lot sir. For the first effort on tanks you show that getting on and doing it is much better than getting bogged down like me. Inspirational once again sir. Thank you.
You‘re welcome :) Glad you like it. But actually I never touched a tank again since recently (tiger I is in the making). I mean, they are quite nice to build, compared to aircraft you can smash everything together and paint it, not so much sub-assemblies necessary. But after all, aircraft stay my favorite (like yours?). But I’ve to say tanks are great for dioramas. So I’ll building one from time to time. Likewise with ships, I really like ocean dioramas (like my very first video here on RUclips). I bought the USS Theodore Roosevelt in 1/700, combining my passion for aircrafts and ships. Anyway, you should give tanks a try. It’s a fun exercise between aircraft builds.
Thanks mate :) I did some research on the original leopard and it looks like the color doesn’t chip at all (or they repaint it really fast). Some rust here and there, that’s it.
The "RAM" panels are simply anti slip coatings so the crew doens't slip and they are basically colored the same as the camo scheme but they do look a bit darker because of the rough texture. ;)
Oh that’s good to know. I remember seeing some of them really dark on some photos, but yeah, that’s the thing with photos. They just capture a moment and light plays a big role. So thanks for the insights, I’ll keep that in mind for my next modern tank build.
@@GeneralPelleScaleModels Ja, hast du :-) Zwei Konstruktive Hinweise möchte ich dir geben. 1.
How did you get the commander sights green and shiny? I'm building an abrams, and I've been trying to figure out how to make the sights look more realistic by getting the greenish-purple reflection on them. Fantastic model, and it looks so realistic!!
Thank you, glad you like it :). I did it that way: cut the clear part, measure the part out which should be shiny. Mask and install it. The spraying the model, finish weathering and everything. Remove the mask and apply a self adhesive holographic film in the desired shine. They are sold by hasegawa or sx-art and can be cut in shape with a sharp hobby knife. I also saw other RUclipsrs painting things like that, but that’s indeed more difficult to get right and honestly the effect from the holographic film is really great (shiny, different colors depending on the angle the light falls in, like the real thing more or less).
Thanks mate and thanks for asking. I’m currently working on the post apocalyptic diorama (around 75% finished, but it’s huge), a J-15 (10% finished), a type xxi submarine with interior (5% finished) and a small vignette for the leopard tank shown here (not started). So it’s either one of the dioramas or the J-15 because I like to work more on airplanes. Either way, all are far from finish and I plan to release one more video this year.

I didn’t mix it with a yellow. But, and that part is maybe not in the video, I did some post shading by mixing the green with some white and then applied in thin layered spots. Keep also in mind that I record stuff with a lot of video lighting, that makes stuff brighter than it appears under normal light conditions. Hope this helps :)
@@GeneralPelleScaleModels Thanks a lot for the information; I plan to achieve the effect like in the video but in real life. I'll mix white and perhaps yellow in the wash before the NATO Green base dries.

If you look back at modeling history, they come from a time where the plastic wasn’t that detailed. PE parts can show details where plastic can’t, even until today with all the fancy new molding techniques. When plastic becomes to small, it’s hard to show much detail or it can even become to fragile. Thats where PE comes into play. To enchanting details. This is pretty evident when you take a look at ship builds with 1/350 or 1/700 scale. At that scale, the filigrane towers and mast are greatly enhanced in detail when using PE parts, because with plastic alone a lot of details are to small to cast. On the other side, it’s still a modelers choice. I also don’t use extra PE on all my builds, for example my latest F-16 build has only a few PE parts for the engine. I’m this particular Meng leopard build they even included some PE parts as part of the kit itself (instead of plastic).
