Just FYI, the flat ring with the o-ring is called a backer ring. It goes behind the o-ring, not on the pressure side. It keeps the o-ring from deforming by pressure. If you put the backer ring first, nothing stops the o-ring from deforming.
Thank you! The pitting inside the cylinders affects the power of the rams. The left stabilizer has to be helped by the backhoe to reach full extension. Thanks for the look
I just stumbled across your channel and really like your videos and your style...you do a good job showing and explaining, in a calm and relaxing way, most are not that way. Thank you
Thanks Jeff, glad you liked it. I use the backhoe frequently around the farm. Still need to install the chokes on the control manifold to slow the action. Maybe I will make a video of that!
If you have to remove the rod only, swing boom to limit either left or right. Not sure if there is a preferred method for the cylinder. But my guess is leave the ram rod in place so you can pull on the upper pin hole with considerable force. You may be better served by calling a tractor mechanic for advice
I have a B21, model BT751, that I just got home with due to my wife's father passing. He took all his knowledge and secrets with him. The two cylinders that swing the backhoe, the ones at where you have that log, they are leaking, and I have no idea how to find parts or new cylinders. Do you know where I can find more information on parts?
Messicks has some parts. All you probably need is to replace the o rings so a good mechanic can help with that. The discontinued parts can be fabricated at a machine shop. Good luck and stay safe on that B21!
I own one. Good little tractor. Yea that seat flips up closer to the backhoe. Next time you seal that cylinder swing the boom all the way to one side and that rod should come straight out.
Benjie thanks for watching! That comment would have been real handy 2 yrs ago! I use the L35 frequently, it runs great, is small but has plenty of power. Have a problem with the glide clutch response. When i shift gears, i takes about a second or two to fully engage and chatters while in progress. So I use the foot clutch with a delay.
@@TripleTRanchAndSawmill The clutch pack were a little weak in the early years of the L35. Kubota would up grade if it broke under warranty. Thanks for the part numbers my big cylinder leaks internally. Leaks down in no time. Stay safe.
I wish I would have found this video sooner. I had hell trying to change the seals on the same cylinder on a B-21. I wish you could make a video on how to remove the backhoe. There are no videos that I can find. I haven’t been successful on removing mine and it has been over 10 years since it had been off. My tractor was a rental tractor from a local dealer
Marcus I have been using mine a lot lately. I will make a video when I remove it along with a seat manipulation. I used the l35 with a mower for a summer and found it handy. The lift arms are weak tho. Regards what part of the country are you in?
Nick, since the backhoe remote is already at the back of the tractor, it would require a few hi psi tees with quick connectors. I probably will just leave mine as is because the hoe is handy!
@@TripleTRanchAndSawmillMy fault, & I'm sorry, you did such a nice job with that mechanical thumb, & it works so well. What I meant to ask was have you ever considered having a 3rd function up front for a grapple. What is your take on that being a feasible endeavor.
Oh just saw this. I have been watching for a used grapple to adapt. It would save some time. Some guys run the hose to back remotes but it seems u could-tie in closer to the pump. Thanks
Yes the loader lifted it. I didn’t have too much trouble. I need to back it into the shop and rework the hydraulic hose connections they leak under duress. But I use the backhoe almost every week. Thanks for watching
This is a big guess: if it gets hot quickly maybe the pressure relief is not working properly see if you can install a gauge somewhere. This is dangerous condition. You could disconnect a supply hose tie it down and flow it into a large bucket, turn the engine over and see if temperatures rise at the pump. . But more than likely it’s related to the pump. Did it turn freely in your hand? Maybe you need to shim it someway to free it up. Your best approach is hire an experienced mechanic.
Use the cylinder pressure to move ram , not the whole machine, your fighting yourself not knowing what your doing,, lve replaced my inside boom twice useing common sense, easy to pull ram out,, many destroyed the transmissions not useing hydrostatic transmission fluid and useing regular hydrolic fluid
George thanks for watching and advice. Another guy told me to move the boom to extreme right position to retrieve boom ram. I think I have the seat figured out now, i use the backhoe weekly!
You fixed it man! Very fast bom,and I think it’s strong enough.

Thats good info. Thanks for the comment and next time I rebuild I will verify each seal.
I find it impressive that you did a fabulous job repairing your cylinder AND equally impressive video camera work and editing. Brilliant.

Did you ever figure out that the seat flips closer to the backshoe? If not I would be glad to show you. Good video and thanks for sharing
Yes i can flip it pretty quick now. Do you have an L35? I really like mine.

Great video I just picked up the same model. Where did you find your service manual?

Nice clever way to do it. glad it went good i will say i was nervous for a few seconds

Great! I use and abuse mine every week.

How did you lift the end in the boom to align the hole for the pin? I’ve been fighting it all day.
@chuck4031 i used the stabilizers but I am not good at it. I leave mine on most of the time.
What tool did you use? I am having trouble finding one.

How did you get the boom pin lined up? Did your loader lift the cylinder after putting the easy pin in place?
